    The O'Donnell issue is that Langston CLEARLY did not know about the team being at the meet, it feels like no one is dirty, because when they show Langston in the car with no members of the team around he was surprised that it was a setup. It just wouldn't make sense that none of them could warn him.

    I don't believe any of the 110 are dirty. The whole season boils down to good ex-cops vs dirty ex-cops. I think Swan has been kept sedated and restrained to a gurney like they showed when they threw the one out the helicopter. They plan to have Swan as the fallguy for the fallout from this deal and probably for his body to found in the rubble of what is left of New Age when they get their money and split. As for how that Dixon telling Reacher she would kill Swan scene, it felt genuine to me. She cares enough to carry the burden of killing their old friend so Reacher doesn't have to do it himself. I hope we get some more juicy flashbacks to show exactly how Reacher handled that direct order.

    To be fair to AM: he's clearly low-key panicking. He said himself, he expected this to be a smooth deal, and it's gone wrong at every turn. He's had to ditch his identity, take a new one, and now might have to ditch THIS one too because of the cop giving him a warning. He's calm on the outside but the man is floundering as everything keeps going wrong for him. You can't just kill a COP and walk away with nobody following up on it, he wouldn't have done that if there was ANY other option.

    I don't know if there is a dirty one but my mind drifted back to the one who supposedly died in a car wreck a year or so ago. We rarely see him at all and the one other time I remember him is he was usually grouped with the kids of the team, all of who are dead now.
    But something I remember hearing about this story, is that the team members are being tortured, and not just in the way the three we know are dead. So Swann might be in more trouble than we think.

    I also got a lot of slasher film vibes from this episode with AM walking up to the cop and u see him coming though the dash cam and Reacher acting like Michael Meyers killing everyone in one bus and then dragging the other guy under and starts screaming even the split diopter shots it’s felt like Brian De Palmas influence and John Carpenters influence are all over this episode

  • @mojoshivers
    @mojoshivers 9 місяців тому +6

    I think it would have been a disservice had Swann been actually involved. Reacher only works if his methods and influence are unassailable. If anyone on his team had gone dirty, it puts up for debate whether his methods, his training, and his influence are right. If Swann had been dirty I think the loss in confidence to Reacher would’ve been detrimental. Then you just have a character that’s more introspective and unsure than who he is.
    Reading the books you can see that Reacher functions as he does because very much the results do bear out that the means were necessary. If Swann had gone dirty, that’s a bad result all on Reacher.

    The only member of the team that I think could be “dirty” is possibly Lawery. Neeley mentioned at the diner when she and Reacher first met up that he had died in a car crash. He could have faked his death. It would be a fun little twist since it seemed to be a throw away line and he’s not on anyone’s radar. Other than that crazy possibility I think everyone is clean.

  • @surlycanadian

    Russo’s death makes me mad on multiple levels. First of all, he was a good foil for Reachers methods and I was enjoying his presence in the story but secondly….does no one in the 110th know how to apply pressure to a wound? Neagly…holds him while he bleeds out, and he dies….a minute before an ambulance arrives? And Dixon is doing what while O’Donnell is calling 9-1-1? Is she casually walking over to Russo and Neagly?
    I just can’t help but be angry that the writers decided that Russo succumbed to wounds due to the Special Investigators inability to apply pressure.

    • @lsaria5998
      @lsaria5998 9 місяців тому +3

      The whole scene a rare case of bad writing in the Reacher series. There was zero reason for Reacher's team not to see him safely away. There was zero reason for him not to call it in to NYPD. There was zero reason for him to drive to a dark, unoccupied spot in the city that is literally famous for never sleeping. There was zero reason for him to split from the kid. There was zero reason for him to break cover to try and take out three guys alone when he knew he had help on the way.
      The last two episodes have been really disappointing to me from a realism perspective, which was a massive part of what was so good and refreshing about Season 1. This season just has too many moments where the writers clearly thought "we want to shoot this scene, how do we shoe-horn it into the show somehow".

    • @surlycanadian
      @surlycanadian 9 місяців тому +1

      @@lsaria5998 well one of those things is bad luck but totally justified in the script. He swerved to avoid hitting a truck and that funnelled him to that area he got stuck in. And him breaking cover makes sense to me because he wanted them shooting at him and not her. She had a 100 foot hallway essentially to run down before she could get behind something else, so he needed them to point their guns at him. He couldn’t call 911 because he had his line open to Reacher’s crew because they needed constant location updates from him. They couldn’t see him safely off because they had to get Marlo to the meeting site immediately, didn’t have the time to drive all the way to queens and back and Russo wasn’t ready to go anyway. Maybe that doesn’t fly with you and that’s cool, but all that is fine with me.
      For me, it’s only the last 30 seconds that is bad but it’s REALLY bad. Nearly unforgivably bad. If they were going to kill Russo off and not make the 110th look like incompetent fools, have him succumb to his wounds as Neagly (and Dixon) run to his aid. Have him roll over and see Jane and her mother so he confirms that he got her out of there, smile thinking “worth it”, and then die. It’s just…so bad and weird the way they did it.
      The show is consistently so good that rare terrible details like this hit me like a roundhouse kick to the side of the head.

    Everyone in this show aim like Storm Troopers. I know that crazy precise aiming is unrealistic, but so is missing too much like that as well. The "car chase", with 3 guys shooting non-stop at Russo with automatic guns, for like 10 minutes, no tire shot, front window barely damaged. Hell, these guys were supposed to have a formation with firearms, right? I can hear the "Oh but they were in / shooting at a moving vehicle". Still. Sorry but that was dumb. Then the chase end, Russo been on the side of that car for a while, with the girl inside. If he just stayed there for 2 more minutes, he would have been fine with the others joining him. The shooters showed no sign of moving towards them at all, they were shooting at nothing. And yeah none of them shot through the door where the girl was hiding, so no reason to believe that they would have 'cause at this point we already know that they can't aim and they are dumb. After Russo was shot and the girl kept running, then one of the shooters suddenly gets in front of her, coming out of nowhere. Not behind her, in front of her. WTF. I love this show, really, but it's the first episode that made me think that it was a bit dumb. When watching Reacher I don't expect full realism, but at least a bit of realism. It has in previous episodes, not always ofc, unrealistic stuff happened before, but they somehow make it look badass or something. This whole scene was just plain stupid, and it makes me feel like Russo's death was useless. Would have loved to see him fight Reacher after the whole plot was resolved at the end of the season. Just my opinion, now let me dry my tears.

    • @malcolmrowe9003
      @malcolmrowe9003 9 місяців тому

      The shooter didn't quite come out of nowhere. We see him separate from the others at the car to give chase as the girl starts her run and Russo starts his charge of the light brigade. The questions of how he makes up the ground, why we don't see him overtake her and why the girl doesn't notice him are a little more problematic but I agree with others that Russo and the girl should have stayed behind the car a bit longer and that you'd expect the ex-MPs to apply some basic first aid, even if they thought he was going to die anyway.

    I still suspect O'Donnell and Dixon. The reason for this is because the cops that were trying to take out Russo seemed to know about the girl. If it had just been Russo they were after, they wouldn't have known anything about her. That's why I think perhaps the 110th has a dirty member. O'Donnell seems like an obvious choice, which is why I suspect Dixon. Her being dirty would be a real shocker. She could have been working for them from the beginning, and lets them know what's up when she gets a chance. Taking out Swan would be a way to cover her own ass, too.

    Although Odonell is still number 1 in the circle of suspected traitors for me, it occurred to me today that Dixon could be the traitor. First, the drop height for Reacher would be greater due to their relationship. Second, she was amazingly randomly right there when they first met, so Reacher . Thirdly, she can also be the link to the past. She was infiltrated and was supposed to get close to Reacher, which didn't work that way at the time. She could have foisted the coke on Swan at the time.
    Und Swan könnte auch Dixon um hilfe gebeten haben, nicht wissend dass sie schmutzig ist.

In the first season he was the world's greatest detective, now he's overly emotional all the time. And in the first season they killed his brother so why was he so cold then and not now. The action and the writing is so obviously sub par this season. Really killer has a girl at gunpoint on a completely silent street and here comes a car from another dimension and hits him saving the girl. What is this.. Looney Toons. Also look at Reacher after he crawled from under the bus. Man almost had a heart attack. And the way he got rid of those two guys on the bus is so lame and beyond stupid. What the f did become of this show. I'm really biting my nails at the thought of Reacher fighting 65- year old Robert Patrick in the finale. He's gonna push him down the stairs maybe. I would also add why the whole subterfuge with cutting the bottle to make a fake silencer to threaten the guy with. He could have just threatened him with the switchblade and it would have had the same effect. The guys chasing Russo must have had a huge box of ammo to be able to shoot full auto for that entire chase scene, and then they continued to shoot at the car without changing their position or seeing a target while the cop had a touching conversation with the teenage girl.

    Really didn’t like this episode much. Their plan was half-assed - and Reacher is never half-assed.

    Jesus Christ this was a bad episode. Loved the first season but this is Walker Texas Ranger bad. It is clear as day that A.Ritchson is so involved in movies that he has no time to choreograph fights so he mostly strangles his enemies. Six episodes down and still not one great fight or cool moment like in season 1 (except for biker fight). And the writing omg. This super assassin waits for the police woman to call in his fake ID and vehicle and then kills her. Give me a break. And the last scene is pure stupidity. It seems that when Ritchson bulked up for season 2 he lost ability to move at all. I swear to you, in this episode he makes a grimace on his face by just taking his shirt off. Pathetic.

      Also the fights are set at night, with very fast cuts, so you can’t see who’s doing what to whom.
