- It's Doom, but with 100% more numbers popping out of enemies when you shoot them, also recoil, also pretty goddamn difficult. PRODOOMER, THE DOOM MOD THAT HAS IT ALL.

I was having trouble with Lava Moss as well, until I realized what I was doing wrong. This mod has a stealth mechanic, and you're expected to use it. Fists and the crossbow are silent, as are all spells. Most of the enemies in the entry area are facing away from you, and can be picked off one by one so that they don't all swarm you at once.
Also, I figured out the best strategy to kill the Spiderdemon666. First, place sandbags and other summons near it, so it gets distracted on those. Then you want to get as close as possible while still behind cover, such as the pillars next to the boss. This will cause the boss to fire its shots into the pillar (if you had tried to keep your distance and hide behind one of the pillars on the edge, this would have allowed the homing shots to spread out and hit you from the sides). Keep the boss on the opposite side of the pillar and shoot its protruding legs with your super shotgun to do the most damage, and it will die pretty quickly. Tested on Badass (Nightmare) and it works better than anything else I tried.
So yeah, I finished this mod on Badass with 100% completion, and I kind of sort of spoiled it for everyone on the ZDoom thread. If you want to find out how to find everything yourself, do not click on this link, and do not read my post on page 16:

Stealth mechanic. In a Doom mod.
But why though?
Stealth is for pussies.
+umbaupause Anyone can put what they want in a Doom mod, please don't be a fucking dickehad and say"durr dum is abeeut cheinse and rip teeeeerr dis sux".
Talk about self-sabotage. The guy making this mod definitely needed play-testers.
Though I hear it's a lot better now than when Icarus covered it.
The latest version (v3) is still rated 5/10 on ModDB. It seems that while people appreciate the scope of the mod, the quality of the final product has suffered as a result.
@@stefanm.734 There's an special reason for that score? . I would like to play this mod, but Im not sure because the difficulty.
@@DanielValenciaCol It's mostly due to the fact that some mechanics are subtle, like the stealth, and people weren't ready for the difficulty. The other problem is that of how Icarus made his videos at the time.
He posted 1 episode a week, meaning he had to avoid replaying past levels for more cash and XP, which you're expected to do in order to keep up with the difficulty curve. Icarus wasn't able to do that since, again, he's got 6 days before each episode is made.
Once you're in the mindset of “it can get 10-20 hours” then you'll find it to be golden. I'm now on a run of New Game Plus saving up for some of the extra powerful NG+ exclusive equipment, like the minigun and black hole launcher.
@@SgtMjRomero is there an easy mode?

Is this LEGO Star Wars?
FragrantGingerCalamari Phantasy Star Online
HOLY-
pro tip: you can watch series at Flixzone. I've been using them for watching a lot of movies recently.
@Stetson Case Definitely, I have been watching on Flixzone} for since november myself :)
@Stetson Case definitely, been watching on Flixzone} for months myself :D
Looks like most of that hub layout is from Phantasy Star Online. The music certainly is anyway.
+xenokaos1 yeah i am happy about that, the only problem is when i search a PS doom mod it shows me phantasy star 3 generation of DOOM
and its not horribly compressed either
Excited to finally get PSO2 announced for the west :)
when the video started I was like "Is that Phantasy Star Online music"
I got weird TekWar vibes from it. I agree with the music though.
There's a new version of PRODOOMER that might be worth a look. One change is the removal of recoil.
is it easier though
Holy shit, this mod is absolutely *massive*. I'm a little scared to try it, haha.
Gameplay and Talk they turned Doom into Destiny
My god I'm downloading it right now, and I'm really excited!
when a mod is so brutal you have to take a vacation to Disneyland... :D

Man, the beheaded kamikazes from serious sam. The memories.
Lord Tomlluckrah the Great AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH YOURSELF!!! ... OHH OHH
Not sure if someone has already said this, but this mod seems to have a MASSIVE influence from Phantom Star Online. What gave it away for me was the hub world music and the fact that the different stages/levels have a nasty difficulty spike.
PSO for the win ^^
Phantasy star online. sorry for replying to a7 year old comment, but it was bothering me.
Judging by the music and sound effects, I can at least respect this mod for injecting some Sega magic into Doom.
the main character is called sonic
Phantasy Star Online. :3
And F-zero GX (almost made by Sega)
An example of 'just because you can doesn't mean you should.'
Prodoom seems like very very close to something i always wanted to make for Doom, an EXP system. Simple mechanics, but no idea how hard it would be to set up. So you start with the basics, each enemy gives EXP when killed, more for stronger enemys. Level up at certain EXP points and say with each level you get 5% more max HP, your weapons cause 5% more damage, max armor increases by 5%, fire rate increases by 1%. Thats the basic levelling mechanics. Then include skills at certain levels. Then you could create certain enemies that would be designed for higher level players. I always thought it would add a lot of depth to Doom but when done right. I 100% agree that Doom is mainly meant for enjoyable monster mashing. Its not fun when you get pit falls, traps, or awkward level design that catches you out in stupid situations.
i giggle every time i hear a sound from Diablo
Because of you I've gotten so many Doom mods and am having SUCH a blast! I will probably stream them, too. (out of respect I won't advertise on your channel ♥)
ChrisSchimpf Remember me if you get super popular! :P
Definitely! Keep up the awesome MOD reviews! :D
+ICARUSLIV3S just found your channel, this is great, my childhood just comes flooding back when I watch these video. I wish I could still find my gateway 2000!
I am playing p4oject brutality how do I run weapon mods?
.........you just did....
Thank you so much for introducing this to me, my only gripe is with some of the level designs, they are damn near impossible, specially the ones with the kamikaze zombies or the level with the one hit killing archers, I'm not ashamed to admit that I also used god mode for some levels.
this is the largest doom mod ive ever downloaded; the fricken thing is over 300 MB
Taylor Phillips That's three times larger than the new Doom! Holy shit!
No it's not. 331 MB is 0.331 of a GB. DOOM 2016 requires at least 45 GB.

Even if this mod isn't that good I can salute the ambition the guy made for it... maybe if he had a team for the level and game design it could even become a fully-fledged, solid Doom RPG mod
Prodoomer is what happens when you take the micromanagement and progression of tower defense/horde mods and make a single player campaign out of it.
This sounds like they added so many great features to Doom to add so much depth to it. But the levels seem to be so insanely difficult that it takes away from the overall enjoyability.
Nah, the difficulty was added believing that we'd replay earlier levels before tackling the later levels. It's not a mod meant to be played in a single sitting, rather to be enjoyed over the course of a week or two while you enjoy the time off from work and weekends.
Edit: I meant replay the levels when the game is getting too hard to enjoy, or to collect any missed secrets/needed cash for upgrades.
Some of the enemies are taken from Might and Magic 8, the dudes with the tridents.
Wtf I need to play it now
I love me some Might and Magic
Mr Icarus... it's NEVER boring when you show a doom mod. Never.
...I dunno about anyone else, but I can see those pits in the second area of Lava Moss just perfectly fine. It's just less grassy on the floors you can fall through. Hell it's not even just a little less, it's a whole lot less.
Yes. This is the type of doom mod i love! Leveling, monster types, skills.....it sounds like kyle'sRPG mod. Bit difficult sounding tho
Plays doom , super happy about disneyland.... nothing out of the ordinary
I fucking love the Phantasy Star Online music. I miss that fucking game.
... This is based off of Phantasy Star Online... Sweet.
Oh god, after watching your video for 5 minutes, I finally remember that music. It's from Phantasy Star Online...
I like it, there is a lot of strategic thinking required to win, but it looks very much like a numbers game with just how much grinding and leveling you need to do to get upgrades.
The map design in this game really needs some work. Most maps are way too large and it's really easy to get lost. Some rooms are so massive and have such a miniscule amount of enemies. They need to do some serious reworking on the levels, because underneath the absolutely labyrinthine level design is the potential to have a really well-made Serious Sam-esque Doom mod.
My least favorite map is the rooftops level. The game expects you to do precision tightrope walking in the DOOM ENGINE. No. Just, no.
I'm so glad you covered Lava Moss. That canopy just dropping you into insta-death lava was bullshit. I nearly rage-quit the mod as well because of it. I got really damn fast at saving in that level that's for sure. There is a lot of great stuff with this mod, but honestly the level design ruins it. So much switch hunting. And like you said, it's the bad kind. There have been so many instances where I have run all around a level after hitting a switch just trying to find out what the hell it did.
Beheaded kamikazes are enemies in this mod?
Yes.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I love the Diablo II noises. Potions and the Ents' voices.
For the endless hours I played PSO over the years...I instantly recognized the music from Pioneer 2 on the hub level.
Thanks for shedding light on this little gem, Only just got around to playing it and really enjoying it so far.
That oldschool PSO music gave me a feel :(.
Dark Souls with guns.
After listening to the stream of this, it's easy to hear the disdain in his voice when he's talking about this shitshow.
Commitment DOOM!!?! Still this has a ton of stuff to it and it is innovative!
that's totally the pso hub level music in the hub....
Gotta love that Phantasy Star Online music
4 years later I can sniff the anger
There is a concept such as "battle design", which appears to elude a lot of mod creators.
Calculating which enemy comes from where, when, why, what it is going to do, which
lines of crossfire, which ambush, where, allow or not an escape route, cover, enemy
chaining, enemy combinations, reinforcements, which weapons are available, etc.
A master-class on this subject was demonstrated long ago in a game known across
the galaxy as "Quake II" :-) Particularly, its mission packs.
Then, any successful battle design is ought to have a sound, beatable strategy (reliant
first of all on brains, and only then on fingers), a strategy which should be repeatedly
tested - to confirm that it produces consistent victories with an average/average+ skill,
as in - without having trained for a month to deliver the said results.
Finally, add a margin of error: different elements which may offset the said strategy
(as in: go wrong), even if you know what it is and how to win. That usually has to do
with enemy AI and the tactical options that the designer has provided for the
opposition VS how much the player is powered.
Add difficulty levels by increasing the chance(!) for things to go wrong (as opposed to
just hitscanners killing the player quicker), or increasing the dependence on precision
and/or timing, less forgiving enemies, fewer chances to recover upon mistakes, - etc.
This is actually much harder to implement than it sounds. Because making a cheap
killbox is easy, - and is of interest to none, as there always(!) are plenty of more
competent games in the field: as in things that compete for a player's time and/or
commitment. Lastly, make all difficulty levels present, so that each player chooses
a personal comfortable preference. Unless opting for an averaged setting.
Then again, there is a simpler approach: just copy-paste every enemy x30 in a
timed sequence, so that their respawns overlap. Voila, instant Serious Sam.
could you find a wad similar to this without the insane difficulty?
i can tell how much rage you have loaded and want to cuss the hell out of it but you cease yourself because it's way too much of a hardwork in this mod and you may get burnt for doing so lmao. respect for that anger control :P
This mod is autistically hard, and its one of my favourite video game mods. Satisfaction you get from beating it without godmode is insane, and this mod has a lot of character, great soundtrack and level design that just keeps you going. Overall its just pretty fucking astounding. If you can beat that hellish archer forest shitshow level, then you can officially call yourself a PRODOOMER.
this is the reason i belive in dagon.. he showed me 009 sound system when i wanted to hear it so badly again.. he showed me this awesome mod!
Watching this video after his live in twitch, forcing his way through to the end of that mod. I'm pretty sure Icarus would be WAY more savage with this mod and just dont recomend it in any way possible XD
Will you be reviewing horror mods such as Ghoul's Forest/Ghoul's World, or perhaps the more atmospheric Unloved?
DustedEnderman I'm sure i'll get around to them sooner or later :D
ICARUSLIV3S It is creepy....Good luck with that ^_^.
Quake 3 textures never gets old
12:52 That's not a Spider Master Mind, that is the muthafuckin' Primagen!
The guys that "should be in Avatar or fighting Auqaman" are lifted Triton sprites from Might and Magic 8.
tried v3, by a certain point in episode 2 i gave up on trying to play legitimately because the mod thinks challenge means throwing 10 kamikazes at me with every opened door or sometimes every 5 footsteps
I think it's all that and a bag of chips.
Gotta love the Phantasy Star Online inspirations.
Never thought I'd see Sonic 06's ranking screen or get Phantasy Star Online vibes in a Doom mod. The dev's a Sega fan.
I just finished this, and while the recoil is annoying, this mod is VERY hard, and VERY good.
The new version of the mod fixes some of the problems like recoil you should check it out
"I wanna like it cuz u can tell they put a lot of time into it"
I can spend an hour taking a shit too, but did i do as good a job as the guy shitting for 5 mins?
Hope you have a great time at Disney!
All those white line attacks from the Spider Demon boss reminds me of Diablo 2 Mephisto lightning spam. Not sure which is worse.

I think you're biased because you have to get through many mods for a living, and this one demands your full attention.

The super shotgun has the firing sound of Day of Defeat's Springfield rifle for some reason. Definitely not a 'shotgun-y' sound.
You were playing the lava moss level wrong. The mod has a stealth mechanic you are supposed to use.
i actually like that the firearms ave realistic recoil.
I'm actually really glad you've shown me this mod, I haven't been this impressed with a mod since the Wrath of Cronos for Hexen, challenging but lots of fun and replayability
that being said, I fucking hate the suicide bombers
How'd you get it to run?
Everytime I try to load it, Doom2 just runs
It does look like something someone is putting on their resume.
I disagree with your opinion on the n64. While I do agree that they look plasticine, I believe that it added to the atmosphere to have more 3D looking enemy's. But I still agree with you on the spider mastermind. Blegh
DOOM is the only game where adding a fuckton of menus is actually pretty cool.
Phantasy Star Online feel and music in the hub.

Phantasy Star Online music. I dig it.
i'd love to see a deadspace mod.
REVENGE me too
I recently tried this mod, and I was completely sucked in. I've spent more time on prodoomer than I'm willing to admit. I absolutely love the RPG - element and upgradable stuff. If you use all the things, skills and allies at your disposal, you can unleash all kinds of hell and literally wreck your enemies, even bosses. Some of the music is ripped straight from old favorite games of mine, like Pso Online, Metroid Prime and F-Zero GX, and i love it!
That being said, there are some maps I look up where to find all the stuff, because I don't ever want to play them again. Lava moss is such an example. This mod has some downright sadistic platform - elements and other things which just seem unfair, and sadly detracts from much of the fun.
I'm gonna go play more though! :D
Iget my arse kicked by the first ever enemy. It's a cyberdemon.
Why is there the crimson omen from gears of war when you die? It's really cool don't get me wrong but what
