Today I learned about Big Bill Hell. As a Baltimore resident, this brings me great joy.
If you're an old Glen Burnie man like me, you remember Bob Bell commercials. Evidently his advertising guys made it as a joke, but it feels exactly like one of his commercials.

I'm sorry but I'm just gonna say it - I fucking hate this latest version of Reelism. It just doesn't have that same "one more try" factor that the old Reelism did.
In older versions of the mod, it felt like I had more of a chance to stand my ground and fight enemies in earlier waves and I could actually use some old-school Doom strategy like thinning out high-priority targets to keep myself safe until the next spin of the reels. When I died, it felt like I died because I wasn't playing well, not because the game had piled too much on my plate. Contrast that to this version where it feels like success pretty much rides entirely on being lucky with the reels and it always seems like there's at least one mode that's there simply to make things arbitrarily more difficult. It feels like I'm being punished for wanting to play the mod.
A lot of the mechanics seem great in premise but once you actually have to start playing seriously with them for any extended period of time, the novelty wears off extremely quickly and it becomes frustrating and tiresome. Imo, Kinsie has spent too much time trying to be 'le epic funny man' and not enough time actually focusing on the balance in this latest version.
Oh, yeah, what are you gonna do? Release the dogs? Or the bees? Or the dogs with bees in their mouth and when they bark, they shoot bees at you?
That would be Dog Pope II...

Mods like this that just feature the most batshit insane series of enemies, weapons, and locations is one of the prime reasons why I love Doom Modding so, so much.
Holy shit, this fills the exact gaps in Reelism that had me end up getting bored with it. Installing when I'm off work tonight.

Definitely my personal favorite weapons category in Reelism 2 is the D! weapons which were lifted from the fake screenshots of those D!Zone map packs from the 90's and the guy who sells those weapons at the marketplace is the player sprite from Freedoom!!!

probably my favorite mod ever. i found some mods for the mod on twitter that added pacman ghosts and knock off toys that are trying to kill you.

Been playing alotta RE6 exclusively for Mercs, so this sounds like a nice alternative.

I recently ended up with a copy of RE6. It absolutely boggles the mind that there was a fantastic gameplay loop that the campaign just flat out ignores.
Mercs is good fun though. Punching shit down as Budget Jason Statham is a great time.
@@ClarkKentai Yeah, mechanically it's insanely detailed and nuanced fun. Mercenaries does a great job showcasing what a system it is; unlike the Stories, which--aside from Chris' campaign, derided at the time as Cawwa Duty-fied--seem to be astonishingly designed counter to the systems intent.

Man, this looks fun. I think I tried to get Reelism 1 to work back in the day, but it wouldn't for some reason. I'll try to see if I can get this one to work instead. Plus, anything with a Big Bill Hell reference is amazing, and I love the fact you included the entire video in this.

Of all things that were keeping me on the edge of "I should probably play this sometime when I can bother to", the Gender Reveal IED (one of my most favorite memes of all time) was what finally did it for me.

I really like your coverage of Doom Mods, great content!
Something that it would be cool for you to cover is Doom Roguelike Arsenal. You can play as multiple classes, modify weapons into other weapons, apply monster pack modifications... a lot of customization to be had, and IMO it's the coolest way to play Doom.
There are also additional playable classes to the base mod made by Cutman Mike (of MM8BDM fame) that can be added on to the mod for even more variety.
It feels even more roguelike if you create a new mapset on the fly using something the Obsidian map generator.

I miss some of the Reelism 1 maps and mods but what we got here is some insane quality.
Tons of fun and like Reelism 1 it'll stay installed for quick runs even after the credits roll.
Has me inspired to look up how to mod it as I'm itching for more already.

I reccomend you CountryCide. If you remember the mod Trench Foot, then you'll be just familiar with the theme and aesthetic. CountryCide is a prequel to Trench Foot, so it should be given a chance, it simply kicks ass.

It's just a different, very fiddly, very cautious gameplay loop. (It's got everything I want!) Some don't like that stuff though.
for reelism 3, he should have a new cosmetic currency..you can go to a house market and choose a house to buy.. one could be a castle.. one could be a condo on a tropical island.. you can buy vehicles, planes etc to drive around there. you can buy all kinds of objects to decorate your house with, all kinds of cool toys and things in glass cabinet. go to the pet store, buy a pet, he should just go all out and you can buy loads of cool stuff for your character to hang out with between maps.
