Free market (private businesses), entertainment (tourism), and agriculture are the main ways to survive as a nation, create jobs, and generate a steadily increasing national GDP (export income), which in turn can fund a good healthcare system and increase overall happiness.
Who would have thought being the dictator of a tropical island would become a popular game genre.
You wanna lay around the buildings before building roads.
For the colonial era build 2 rum factories + 4 sugar, 2 tannery + 3 cattle, 4 sawmill + 10 loggers, the rest is to supply the local market. Industrial products are more expensive to sell rather than raw products. For mining, go for gold mine.
When you reached cold war, the plank industry will feed the shipyards, build as many as you can as it is the most expensive comodities in the game.
Shipyards = gazilion cash.

You should look for mining material first. That way you dont build over those areas.

Love the video Baron! I love how well you organized all of the agriculture, but you started the colony with a road across the beach (next to the first dock) and it is soooo unsightly. The overall organization would definitely benefit from pushing that road inland a few blocks
Obviously that would rely on you making a series out of this ;)
Especially if you want to develop your primary urban waterfront property (putting high value residential buildings on a more beautiful coastal road)

I love this game but it doesn’t like me. I’m new to this kind of game after years of playing games like fifa and call of duty mostly I’m hooked on this game have been for a month. But because I’m new to strategy builders I’m useless. I spend hours a day and hardly ever in the $+. So hoping this video helps me make cash for a change and not be hated by the people from the start. I’ve got no further than the Cold War and wonder if I build too much too soon with most plantations and mines struggling to have more than one person working in each mine or plantation. Could that be why?
One major oversight in these games is there is No local economy. You pay thousands in wages every year but the workers don't spend a cent on anything.
