Just realized the actor playing Joseph Seed is the guy who gets shot through the door of the diner in the opening of a film called A History of Violence. He was excellently creepy and unnerving in that film, as brief as he was in it.
Even before the DLC came out, it was apparent that the Seed's were a massive lesson on how destructive a broken family life can be. The DLC's made it all the clearer, especially his relation with Faith.
He thinks he’s talking to God but it becomes vary apparent that the voice in his head is his own ambitions and even just sounds like his own distorted voice. When far cry 5 was announced, I was skeptical of Seed as a memorable villain, but after watching details and stuff I missed he might be my favorite and most grounded villian, at first the monologues were a bit cliche but as jopseph kept talking I heard the underlying truths in those words. He may not be a divine prophet, but much of what he says does come true.
22:38 I rewatched some of it & the bunker scenes clicked here after hearing Joseph's line. I initially thought the bunker visions were things he did in the past, however, they are visions of the future, at least according to Joseph or the voice in his head. Correct me if I am wrong. I once was lost, (understanding the storyline) But now am found (thanks to Father's "Revelation" at the timestamp)
They were visions of what it would have been like if he had his family inside the bunker instead. He realized all of their problems and understood that if all of them had been in that bunker, if his plan had went through without the Deputy stopping them, that they would have likely killed each other.
It would have added a lot to the character other than "Crazy southern cult leader". It would have felt more like Joseph was a flawed human who was in fact doing all of this for himself under the guise of religious salvation and not what they ended up having, some asshole who is obviously wrong but the writers won't stop telling the audience that he's right.
@@none62092 I find it funny how every time the deputy was captured he managed to escape every time because “god” wanted him alive to save Joseph from his family.

Joseph Seed is a character that was confronted with hardship, chose cruelty, and called it strength as a coping mechanism to deal with his own weakness. He literally stumbled his way into prepping for an apocalypse he had no way of knowing was coming, he had no idea Sabal had his finger on the button, but he dealt with it with kidnapping, brainwashing and torture. He didn't have a flock, he had thralls. He replaced his own sister when needed, and allowed his psychopath brothers to indulge their own insane egos and coping mechanisms by tormenting others. And all with an unshakable belief in his own righteousness. He might just be the most evil Far Cry antagonist ever, worse than even the ones in Primal.
So, this is basically a DLC of Joseph rationalizing to himself why his family and Eden's Gate had to be "erased", because of what could have been had he not been attacked by the Deputy........ I take it the "Voice" was just his inner thoughts convincing himself of all this, making excuses for why his family had to die; "John would have been obsessed, Faith would have suffered withdrawl, Jacob would have been insane and killed me".... this entire thing is him setting up New Eden and accepting what happened as "necessary". Nice tough with Faith being his wife's name, no wonder he was so obsessed with her being perfect and pure..... Edit: Just thought about this too: It appears the only reason he saved the Deputy (or just didn't kill them) is because if he did, all of it would have been for nothing, to him, even if one person was saved from all this, even someone he hated, like the deputy, all the madness would be worth something in the end. The Deputy as perfect for him too: They were confused, sad, and best of all: vulnerable. They became weak, which Joseph could use to manipulate them and make them join his side. That makes a bit more sense now.

Right, but also his cult were murdering tons of people and abducting, brainwashing and torturing many more which was unnecessary for his plans to survive the apocalypse. Those insane actions were going to cause a response by all the people they were terrorizing even after the apocalypse, and Rook was that response.
Now that I watch all this I realize how broken the far cry 5 bosses were how in their own way shape and form they were just normal people who were shattered in every way imaginable and Joseph tried to rebuild them the way they were before and in his own image at the same time Extremely messed up and depressing but glad they flushed out the far cry 5 bosses at least and flushed out three and fours bosses even more

Joseph is probably my second favorite far cry villain, Vaas ofc is first It’s also incredibly sad hearing Joseph so happy at the end and acting like a caring father, It’s obvious that the real Faith was his wife and she must have died, so Joseph is calling this girl Rachel Faith cause he can’t get over her death or something, I really believe that Joseph is definitely one of the most interesting far cry villains I love Vaas but Joseph is a very very well written character 😔

The faith in 5 wasn't the original faith, if i remember the plot right
@@ZariusFontaine yeah, you are right. The Faith the Deputy faces in FC5 isnt the first Faith. So this Faith in the DLC could be the first one so it makes sense its a different voice actor
The messages he left to his wife at the end. Just heartbreaking 💔 thank you for posting this
WAIT WAIT WAIT.
So technically it is not the story of Joseph dead Wife and Daughter but with Faith instead of the name of the wife that i do not remember? Oh wait maybe i am wrong.
@@Viktor-gi5up The wife's name is Faith
The real name of his sister is rachel not faith.
There are multiple Faiths. Faith is just the name he gives to certain women like Rachel (the one in FC5) that he has a personal relationship with. His wife was given the name Faith at one point.
Just watch the whole video and you will understand…especially the end…
Hearing Joseph speak and talk like a person normally would, anxiously calling his wife is…is so heart wrenching to hear. Because imagine if she actually did manage to get to her friends place safely. Everything that could have been prevented.
So unlike the other 2 where it shows memories of their past, this one shows Joesph's development in between Far Cry 5 and New Dawn. This is also the only one where the protagonist doesn't make an appearance
Edit: My Mistake y'all, the protagonist of Far Cry 5 is in this DLC. I forgot that in New Dawn he is actually The Judge
I don't see how they could, the Dep was a silent protag without a canon gender, unlike Jason or Ajay.
@@averyaustin1 what could've been cool is that they actually took your data from Far Cry 5 and transfer that Deputy that you made into the Collapse DLC.

I don’t get why they’re still telling Joseph’s story… Far cry 6 is out, why are they still making far cry 5’s story?
This is why Joseph was such a pacifist in Far Cry New Dawn.
That brief moment of Joseph catching fire and then immediately setting fire to Jerome and them both immediately screaming at the same time only for Jerome to fall over dead sent me into a giggle fit and completely took me out of the moment, jesus that was funny.
What time stamp did this happen
@@thyweebhub 23:36
Just realized the actor playing Joseph Seed is the guy who gets shot through the door of the diner in the opening of a film called A History of Violence. He was excellently creepy and unnerving in that film, as brief as he was in it.
also saw 5
Even before the DLC came out, it was apparent that the Seed's were a massive lesson on how destructive a broken family life can be. The DLC's made it all the clearer, especially his relation with Faith.
He thinks he’s talking to God but it becomes vary apparent that the voice in his head is his own ambitions and even just sounds like his own distorted voice. I like how they make some actual biblical connections like when the pastor started quoting warnings about the false prophets and Joseph claimed himself to be the savior just like it says.

Everything from the dlc brings back memories.
I once was lost, (understanding the storyline)
But now am found (thanks to Father's "Revelation" at the timestamp)
Indeed however.... those futures r well.... destroyed and wouldve suffered
"Possible" futures.
They were visions of what it would have been like if he had his family inside the bunker instead. He realized all of their problems and understood that if all of them had been in that bunker, if his plan had went through without the Deputy stopping them, that they would have likely killed each other.
Honestly, if they had something like this in FarCry5 where you experience their trauma and etc this game would have been memorable.
FarCry 5 is already an extremely memorable game to me, it’s probably cause i played it AFTER Halo Infinite and got addicted to Halo’s little semi open world system for the campaign and was looking for more, but holy hell did the characters in 5 make me feel something good
FC 5 is a lot more memorable to me than any other FC games, and yes, i've played all of them.
Ubisoft, THANK YOU. These dlc have been absolutely AMAZING! I haven’t felt so many emotions in a video game in awhile. Anger, sadness, happiness, understand and how all of the games connect in a way I never thought would be possible. Thank you Ubisoft Toronto, I know COVID must have put strains on a lot of you guys but these dlcs are amazing and I’m glad I gambled on the ultimate edition. Thank you honestly these dlc have made todays struggles just that much bearable
I guess what makes Joseph a compelling antagonist in far cry is that he actually has conviction to his beliefs, insane as they might be.
I can't honestly say even Anton Castillo was that committed to his true Yara beliefs. He might have been only for himself in the end but I would definitely say he's a close second.
Anton clearly did I mean he was mass producing the cure for cancer
Joseph's 'voice' is clearly his own. You can even hear it
Excellent VA by Joseph's guy. Very well done
I'm like a 1/4 way through FarCry 6. Watching this has made me realise how much emotional involvement in FarCry 5.
The secret ending in the dlc shows us how joseph was before he turned into this fanatical cult leaded he sounded normal but then his wife's death just probably broke him
Insanity is still my favourite but Collapse is now my second! Control rocks as well, there’s not a single one of these DLC that isn’t awesome.

The Deputy never talking truly makes him more of a force of nature itself rather than a man.

Joseph Calling
Like a Normal Person
Honestly hearing Joseph talk like a normal person in that phone call scared me a bit
It’s always nice to learn more about the villains and to become them
the relationship between Joesiph family is far more interesting than what we saw in far cry 5

Joseph’s final message when you killed the final sibling, honestly was one of the few moments in a video game where I cried. The deputy killed his family and took all of what he was trying to protect.
he was responsible for dozens of murders too y'know
Right, but also his cult were murdering tons of people and abducting, brainwashing and torturing many more which was unnecessary for his plans to survive the apocalypse. Those insane actions were going to cause a response by all the people they were terrorizing even after the apocalypse, and Rook was that response.
Now that I watch all this I realize how broken the far cry 5 bosses were how in their own way shape and form they were just normal people who were shattered in every way imaginable and Joseph tried to rebuild them the way they were before and in his own image at the same time
Extremely messed up and depressing but glad they flushed out the far cry 5 bosses at least and flushed out three and fours bosses even more
I cried sooooo much at Jacob's part when he was having a PTSD moment with the music box. Damn, those voice-mail at the end really got to me. Also explains . . . a lot. When he tells you the story of his daughter in Jacob's compound, it made me hate him, made me see him as a true monster. Murdering a baby like that. But then seeing it from his side in this made me pity him. And hearing those voice-mails, well, really put a bow on things.

I still find it hilarious that the Seed Brothers are from fuckin Rome. Of all the places you could make a villain come from, the writers picked Rome, right in the middle of Floyd County, Georgia. I love it.

The man had only two things. A family and religion. He lost the first and absorbed by the second.
Nah. Religion didn't absorb him. What really absorbed him was himself. Especially when you realize Joseph had become as messed up as his 'family'. The man killed his newborn daughter all because he thought God told him to do it.

Joseph is probably my second favorite far cry villain, Vaas ofc is first
It’s also incredibly sad hearing Joseph so happy at the end and acting like a caring father, It’s obvious that the real Faith was his wife and she must have died, so Joseph is calling this girl Rachel Faith cause he can’t get over her death or something, I really believe that Joseph is definitely one of the most interesting far cry villains I love Vaas but Joseph is a very very well written character 😔
