I've watch ALOT of paint repair vids in the last 2 days and this was one of the best, succinct and accessible info, well explained, good camera, test , and setup, and the results speak for themselves. I can confidently now say I'm ready to fuck up my car.
Australian here. What a great instructional video! Thanks. For some reason I've been able to escape doing this sort of thing to the vehicles I've had over the decades but now is crunch time and your methodical and fulsome explanations are great.
Thanks for making this video, this video is definitely a confidence builder and a easy to follow instruction guide on how to remove scratches, and wax and polish my car without the fear of ruining my paint job. Much appreciated!
Man, all I have to say is what a fantastic video! The way you explained everything as to why it is important and more beneficial to do **this instead of that** and how you showed us that you don't need a $400+ polisher to do the same thing a $170 polisher can do just as well. I was just looking for a reference video using those paint chip repair pens and I came across your video I felt like I was right there learning how to fix those scratches. You did an amazing job my friend keep up the great work!
Those Magic white sponges work great on interiors. Cleaning the steering wheel, center colums, dash, seats and doors etc. oh and tires too. You can get a box of them for a $1 at Dolllar Tree. Your videos are excellent, Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge. I discovered these videos at the perfect time since I'm having to restore 3 of my vehicles and do some work on my mom's car too. I'm only 33 view in and have actually learned a few things already so, again, Thanks Milan!
Nice! This is the first time I've watched someone do any sort of paintwork repair through sanding and polishing. I feel now after watching this video, I can perform this process as well! Thx for posting!
This guy knows his stuff, I’ve watched multiple videos of his and he covers all the details so you aren’t left guessing. Not many UA-camrs making diy videos make things so clear. Everyone already saying the same thing in the comments so probably don’t need to say this but heres for the algorithm giving you more views and subs.
I just got a new used car. All the cars I have bought were used and this one is the most expensive of them and I plan to care for it more. Actually I just learned that the swirl marks don't belong to a car. I'm so happy to learn more from you and the other youtubers. So thank you for sharing knowledge.
my first car was used; from a dealership but 2 years later i finally got it corrected at least 80% of it using some great consumer products like Meguiars line of products their ultimate compound and polish are great, even liquid wax, washing daily is fun and people often ask me if it's new lol
@@jorgenvonstrangle000 oh I wait for the dry spring days to wash my car. At the moment the road is wet and muddy so it is pointless to wash before everything dries up. But thanks for the advice!
Watched this whole video and enjoyed it! There's a scratch on my Benz that drives me mad and now I feel confident suggesting this how-to video to my husband. 👍
if you can feel it with your fingernail, the scratches won’t come out no matter how much you buff. If you overbuff you will remove too much mil thickness in the clear and can potentially burn through!
@@dannyhowarth4571 exactly, as far as the scratch didnt pierce through the clear coat it can be removed by wet sanding.Sometimes the scratch is quite deep and you can feel it but it doesnt mean it pierced through. Most people believe that whenever some white scratch appears on a dark car that its the primer hence they assume the car needs to be repainted.Even a scratch in the clear coat will appear white; its always worth trying and wet sanding.
Yep, the often repeated fingernail advice is pretty meaningless, totally depends on how deep your clear is. Spray the scratch with water and if it disappears for a moment you're probably in luck. As you say, the white you see is usually just the clear coat scattering the light, just like crystal clear ice will turn white if you scratch it with a rock.
That's what one side of my car looks like after scuffing into a low brick wall..Besides that, I have badly faded paint where clear coat has removed on different areas of the car. I can't afford to have the work done professionally so I'm gonna have a go at diy. Your video is easy to understand and explained well. Feeling a bit nervous but hopefully I can achieve good results.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. The magic eraser worked great for my door. A 🛒 had hit my black car door and it didn’t really scratch it .. it more or less left a rather large “scrub” or “scuff” mark and that magic eraser took it right off without causing more scrubs or scuffs. Followed it up with some wax and ya can’t even tell anything ever hit it.
This is great information!! I have a 10 year old black truck - the paint needs some love. I think from what you have showed me, I should be able to significantly improve it. Thanks!! :)
i just bought a 10 year old minivan at a great price because, oh, maybe 60% of the total paint on the whole van looks like that part of that altima lol. i bought paint touchup sprays, brushes, pens, a buffer, different compounds. ive never done this before and this van is quite a big job but im so glad videos like this exist to help people do things like this. im sure i wont get it anywhere near perfect but im sure gonna try.
Dude thank God for this video! U got a subscriber. Great explanation, walk through, showed ur products, excellent. Im amazed at how well u explained everything. Keep up the great work.
Great video and detail. I just bought a 2013 car with light scratches all over and several paint chips that I'm going to try and touch up. Watching this video well help me out a lot.
Excellent...gives a dummy like me confidence to know I can fix scratches.. really just knowing how...and the video reall makes it clear and simple,,,,great!
This video is awesome! You gave options and shown the difference between those options and explained everything in great detail what to do and why you can do it that way. Thank you!!!!
I just bought a new used truck and have been buying all kinds of detailing equipment. I want to take care of this truck. The only thing I need to get at this point is the polisher and the compound. My truck had a pinstripe on eat and the dealer removed it but never buffed it out. I am scared to death to use the polisher as I have never used one before. I just don't want to cause any damage. A common complaint with the M15 is that the power is weak. I don't want to spend double for something but I also don't want to buy something where I'll need to upgrade either. Part of me says just pay the extra money and be done with it. Anyway, great video. Thanks.
I got a quote from a body shop claiming they would have to remove all panels, repaint, blend, and rebuff, for a total of $2000. Clearly based on this video that quote is absurd, and wrong. Thanks for showing this.
Thank you, I had a shopping cart scratch my car to the clearcoat and I was able to completely get rid of it by wet sanding Luckily I also have a Griot Garage orbital sander and you can't even tell it was scratched anymore after polishing.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT MAGIC ERASER TIP!! I hit a pylon with a near brand new 2019 Rogue yesterday, I thought it was scratches, but I think it's just the paint from the pylon.
damn why this guy doesn't have million subscribers. Good content very informative and clear, he is a very good speaker and nice video quality. thanks a lot
Thank you so much I buy and sell cars stuff like that puts me off buying them but knowing can pretty much get rid of them with stuff I have already is a amazing thank you 🙏
I never even CONSIDERED using a magic eraser! I wonked my mirror coming out of the garage the other day, and transferred a nice line of white onto the mirror... magic eraser took that gunk right off, and with a little work and wax after you'd never even know I was a dummy!
I feel so stupid for scraping a decorative rock in a Mcdonald's parking lot that was covered by snow next to the parking lot exit. Couldn't see it. Now the bottom of my passenger side is all scratched up.

really appreciate the video Milan. With the sandpaper paper method removing the clear coat - will the polish or wax replace that level of protection? or will that section be primarily 'exposed' without a clear coat moving forward?
THIS HELPED SO MUCH thank you, really Imma do this tomorrow I was leaving work and accidentally scratched my car against the rail where people store carts so I got red paint from the rail on my car door
I have a harbor freight DA polisher . Probably not near the quality, but for using it like twice a year, it saves a lot of elbow grease. Definitely better than hand polishing!
seeing the state of that gives me hope, I just had a halfwit in a Dodge Ram get impatient with me going 10 over the limit and passed me in the median, his rear tire picked up an object about the size of my hand and chucked it into my driver side fender, hit the wheel well edge of my fender and went down the side of it stopping just short of the GT badge, I'm surprised it's not dented it made a loud bang so whatever it was had some weight to it, I think mine is through the clear coat I can feel the jaggedness of it and wetting it didn't make the scratch lighter but I'll try wet sanding it, I need to wet sand my oxidized carbon hood anyway
Thanks!
Happy to help! Thank you for your support Paul.
i can barely express how precisely this video answered all my questions about "buffing it out." thanks for the quality content.
