Tried my new 3D yesterday, it’s an amazing rod really powerful but a joy to cast. I upgraded from a sage method and I can say the Helios 3 is amazing at every range where my method was not great in close. Could not be happier
I get that you can get a feel for the rod casting it on grass but the real and true test is on the water casting for fish. Either rod is great, just depends on what type of water you're fishing.
I was waiting to hear about these rods. TY. Since you are comparing rods by the same company - [G2 vs the Radian], [Asquith vs NRX LP]. Then have the winners go head to head.
One of the biggest downsides to these rods at least aesthetically and functionally IMO is no hook keeper. 850 dollar rod with no hook keeper is kind of odd if you ask me.
I find the hook keepers useless and there are better ways of storing your fly. Also having a little extra line out of the tip of the rod is helpful especially when trying to go from storage to fishing asap. When rigging your rod up, grab the fly and secure it to an eye half way up or higher up on the rod. then take the extra fly line and leader and wrap it around the base/butt. when you need to fish just un loop the line around the butt and then hit/tap your rod this will have the fly drop from the eyelet and you already have 15 or so feet of line ready to cast.

Whats the line that you use?
The Method was designed for range, so it doesn't load right in close applications.
BarryBigPlumsFishing did you happen to try the sage x.
Sage is Sage #1 on my list. I want to get Method and Mod one of each but instead got my self Helios 3F 🤦♂️
Andi M I use the scientific angler amplitude mpx......awesome match for the 3D

I have the 5F and 5D also.. i find the F is definetly a much better rod.
I like my 3F 4wt 8'6".
I'm contemplating having a rod builder wrap over that K Mart label. What a terrible idea. Or maybe I'll just buy a Loomis.
