  • Mixed emotions flood when shooting this pistol. Memories come back, of our first moments shooting the P365 and how many similarities they share, but the price tag sets them apart.
    A budget micro 9 was a tall task to begin with but Taurus has developed one with the intent of competition in the market place.

    I have a GX4 and P365. I just unloaded my GX 4 to see if it felt gritty and it felt great. I can group I as well as my Sig. Never thought I would have been a Taurus fan. My first and I said would be my last Taurus was a 1911. The slide was so loose it marked the frame.I now Own a tx22 and a tx22 competition. Love all three.

    I have the GX4 and teamed it up with the Veridian E series laser and I love it ! Tried at the range today and banged plates at 20 yds regular ! From 12 yds on in I was tearing up the paper ! I like how easy the laser sighted in and it shoots where that light is ! I love this combo and it's my carry gun now !

    I just picked one up and am going to the range tomorrow. I got the TORO edition because that’s the one they had. They have made a few updates since last year I think but dry firing it, the trigger felt good. It’s a little heavy but for carry that’s not necessarily a bad thing and I found the trigger had a very crisp break. Thanks for the video and an update would be great.

    Never heard anyone say grit and trigger in the same breath when it comes to the GX4. Maybe it's just the example you happened to get, but mine has a short take up to the wall and no grit whatsoever, just an excellent trigger, and man is mine accurate. Was right out of the box and still is with about anything I want to feed it. Now my used G2C has the double strike capability so has a long take up that a lot of people love to knock, (Until they need that double strike because of a hard primer), but a decent trigger after all of the take-up. Again, a decent trigger as far as I'm concerned after you get used to it and learn how it works and how to use it. As with the GX4, I shoot it very accurately at much further distances than you were shooting there. Pork and bean cans are in a lot of trouble with either of the ones I own at thirty yards for sure. I think Taurus makes an excellent pistol at a reasonable price myself and note this is two years after your review, so some improvements may have been made sense your review. I know they had a recall on some of the early ones and I think it was trigger related. If mine is an example of what you get in late 2023, I'd say they got it fixed.

    • @GSquaredTactical
      @GSquaredTactical  8 місяців тому +2

      Yeah, the reason that we started doing the UA-cam channel to start with is because we personally got sick and tired of watching UA-cam videos for pistols. We were looking to purchase and never be able to find a single bad review concerning said pistol, and think to ourselves well we must be making the right Choice here because everyone on UA-cam seems to agree that it is awesome and then we get said pistol and it not be worth two craps. So, even though Taurus is only one of two companies that actually sends us guns to review, it really does not matter to us because we are going to be completely honest and if that upsets the folks who send the stuff then I guess don’t send us anything else, because we are going to be completely honest about our experience no matter what and that is a guarantee from us to everyone watching. yes it is very true that everyone’s experience is different. If we have a great experience with a firearm and someone tells us we’re full of crap because they had a bad experience. It really just shows their ignorance, because certainly one pistol can be great and another of the same kind can be horrible just like with vehicles or anything else that one may buy. We never discredit ones experience if we have a great one and they have a bad one or we have a bad one and they have a great one we are happy for them. With that being said, I actually really like the GX four and I am not a trigger snob, I simply just reported that I was a little bit gritty. Thanks for watching and for sharing your thoughts and please be sure to subscribe if you have not already.

      @@GSquaredTactical Certainly not knocking you or your review. Hope you didn't take it that way as that was not my intention. Just stating that it has been two years since that review until I bought mine and I have not had the experience that you had with yours. Yes, by all means keep them honest, I appreciate that and your reviews.

    • @GSquaredTactical
      @GSquaredTactical  8 місяців тому +2

      @@ditchdigger93 oh, no, I did not believe you was knocking the review, but you have got to have some super thick skin to do what we do and it’s just a hobby for us because we certainly do not make any money doing it lol. You don’t understand if we say one bad thing about a gun that some people like they will call is inbred, talk about our wives, talk about our haircuts, tell us that we divorced our sister to marry our cousin I mean, and that’s just to name a few. So anytime someone tells us that they have not heard anyone put gritty the name of a certain pistol we automatically assume they are trying to discredit what we are saying about our experience, but I could tell from your message that was not the case.

  • @rbm6184

    Glad the pistol performed well. Being a new pistol maybe the trigger will wear in with use. This GX4 pistol is a new design and not part of the G series but I know the G series triggers do wear in. G2c and G3c pistol triggers are on the heavy side out of the box but like the mags they do wear in and become lighter with use. Are triggers that aren't match grade such a problem for close range carry pistols? I doubt it at close range and I doubt the shooter will even notice it under stress. I also agree that for a carry pistol less is better to keep the pistol small and concealable. So a large red dot or reflex like an RMR sight would add size to the pistol and that defeats its purpose. Like trigger safety levers on rifles that adversely affect trigger pull, I think large sights on carry pistols to be used for concealment have no place. But that is just me and folks will do what they want and what works for them. Thanks for sharing.

    I was a little disappointed that Taurus didn't use the G2c/G3 trigger system in the GX4. The good thing about the G2c/G3 trigger system is that it can be easily , cheaply and radically enhanced with a Keep Tinkering trigger. In fact I would put my KT triggered G2c up against any poly/striker fired pistol as far as trigger pull quality and feel.

    • @GSquaredTactical

      I haven’t (Trey) specifically tried that trigger set up but if it’s as good as you say I’ll have to take look at it. I’m all for a enhanced trigger. And now that we have done our base review of this pistol, might as well slap some mods on it

    They seem to be doing better than when I bought a 709 slim that fell apart after 200 rounds. They had horrible customer service and out of 20 odd pistols I’ve traded through over the years as I’ve upgraded them regularly the Taurus 709 slim still remain hands down the worst. A jamming gun that would slide bite you, jam every mag, and rust just from touching it. Since then I have friends who swear by the g2c and g3c as truly great pistols. I hear good things about these too. Eventually I’ll try one but for me I’m happy with a p365, shield, makarov, Glock 43x, cz75 or my 1911.

    After trying this, I don’t think I owned it for 2 weeks, I love my Taurus G3C & TX22, but this one is a no go for me..The capacity and size are very similar to the G3C. The GX4 is smaller of course. I like the longer trigger, and I like the manual safety.
    I shot 50 rounds through this, had about 7/8 FTE. Not today Renee!
    I like the size, grip is awesome, ergo’s, capacity, minimalist design with nice looks.

    Wasn't looking for a firearm that was Red Dot Optics ready or had a 'rail'.
    I wanted a small 9mm that would be the best for self defense, concealment, yet have quality and be dependable.
    I wasn't going to be in any shooting competition with the GX4 as I have other firearms for that.
    Purchased the GX4 at my local Scheels and got the last one in stock at that time.

      I find it mind-boggling that people are upset with micro-compacts not being optics ready. For me, these are pocket guns. The instant you start sticking even a small red dot on them starts to defeat the whole purpose of them being so compact. To each their own, but I'm honestly happy to not have a couple of screws sticking out of the slide on a retaining plate. If you don't ever intend to use them, they just look terrible.

      @@GSquaredTactical Haven’t got it yet, it’s on layaway. Just agreeing with your shooting buddy. He said something about the trigger. I’ve seen other video’s covering that topic. Hopefully Taurus will recall the issue. I bought one of the original Full Conceal 19 model which had an unsafe trigger. Rather than fixing the trigger for me, they just sent me the parts to fix it myself and now the company is out of business. Fortunately I got the trigger at least lol.

      I’m not so sure I agree, the Hellcat was getting claims of trigger issues as well, then nothing but crickets. I see a similar pattern with this pistol, about 3/4 vids from the same guy, all you ever see is him holding the pistol so tight his hands are shaking, the exclaims there it just did it another 3/4 times. Some guy no one has heard of.
      If it gets them some views why not cry Wolf? Most of the reviews on this pistol are very positive.

      @@bowl816 Exactly. All the anti Taurus guys are eating it up and spewing it everywhere. They swear that if you use the old GI Joe kung fu grip and hold your mouth just right and look cross eyed at the front sight, you can cause issues with the striker release. LOL It's a piece of plastic, thin and light weight. Of course if you squeeze it hard enough you can cause it to deform slightly and possibly cause a malfunction. You could likely do the same with any of the rest of the micro 9's. With a proper grip I doubt that many folks can do this unless you are trying extremely hard to do it.

    All Taurus vids I have watched they all talk about problems in the vid or comments. I've never seen vids or comments of failures with smith or glock ...which I have both. A glock 19 and a shield plus and neither have ever had a failure with any manufacturers ammo... brass, steel, fmj or hollow. Not sure but I guess you get what you pay for
