The way you two interact together is so honest and true. You can’t pay for that!! Takes me back to The happy times before my husband passed away. We were married for 33 years and watching you is like going down memory lane, not too mention humorous . It’s like coming home. Thank you so much. Enjoy one another 😍the joy and tears (good) you bring cannot be measured.
When I was a little girl my mawmaw would make me a bag of mini marshmallows, salted peanuts and raisins. That was mine and my cousins snacks at mawmaw and pawpaws house. I still have it to this day and I am now 49. Brings back sweet memories in mawmaws kitchen. I do so miss them. 😢
Mandy, we make a raspberry jello with raspberries and we do the same topping: sour cream mixed with marshmallows that we set in the refrigerator overnight, or for a few hours, to help the marshmallows soften and then beat with a hand mixer until mostly smooth. We love the topping so much that we call it - medicine. 😀
Great recipes as always! I have to say that Gracie Lou always puts a smile on my face! ❤ Also, my mom taught me to always measure cinnamon and vanilla with your heart. She also taught me to always use a heaping measuring cup for anything that calls for cocoa. And if a dish was savory it always started with onions or garlic, or both! My mom is an excellent cook and baker! She definitely gave me my love of cooking and baking!
Garlic and vanilla are heart measured. The cooking gods tell your soul how much you need. My son was called out by his high school cooking teacher for pouring vanilla into the bowl during cookie making. His response was that I told him vanilla isn't measured by "normal" ways
I've made this jello saiad for years and you do use the big box with less liquid because of the liquid in the canned fruits, it's a delicious salad I add chopped pecans to mine ppl always ask me to make it for get to gathers, the sliders look so good!
Hello Mandy! I made the sliders and everyone raved about them! I tweaked your recipe just a touch....instead of melting extra butter in a small dish to add the dry ranch and parsley to, I just used the buttery liquid that the chicken cooked in. I also added a bit of crumbled bacon and some chives along with the Gouda in the sandwich. They were a big hit!
I’m in the middle of making the Mississippi Chicken Sliders for a party we’re going to. Just wanted to hop on and thank you for the recipe. Already made this once before for my family and it was a huge hit! Love to you guys ❤
Love watching you and tater, it makes smile and laugh. My husband used to help me in the kitchen all the time. I miss having him help. He has had a battle with cancer and is doing great. But he can't walk, needs hip and knees replaced. So I still take things to him to taste. Thanks for sharing yours and others recipes.🦋
Mandy I use the microwave when making jello. I add the dry jello to the water (scant 1 cup water for 3 oz size jello)) in a large measuring cup. Microwave on high for a couple of minutes----usually has come to a boil and dissolved the jello by this time. Add ice cubes to the jello, using the measuring up to determine the number of cubes. I often remove some of the cubes before they have dissolved. My grandkids and my late husband loved orange jello, shredded carrots, mandarin oranges, and crushed pineapple in a salad. After draining the fruit well, I also use paper towels to really"dry" the fruit. Additionally, make "ice cubes" of the remaining juice to add additional flavor to the next jello salad. I'm new to your channel and really enjoy it. (I might be called a senior, senior. Dee Hachinsky
Yes. Pineapple is usually the culprit when jello doesn't set up correctly. You need to towel dry the pineapple after draining the juice. Yes, there is a white raspberry.
Hi Y'all, I had my son (19y) make the Mississippi chicken in the instant pot, then we assembled together. We really loved these! Thanks for the recipe!
I make the cranberry salad with cranberry jello and cranberry juice for the cold water. If you put the cranberry sauce in a bowl and lightly run hand mixer thru it it easier. I also put pecans in mine and only use the pineapple and cranberry sauce. Not the other fruit. For topping I put cream cheese, sour cream, and 1/2 cup sugar. Spread on top and sprinkle with pecans. So good
Love your videos!!! I’ve made the sliders before, just without the peppers and I add add a spoonful of the jellied cranberry sauce on top before I put the top buns on. It’s like Thanksgiving on a bun….so good. My husband and I are celebrating our 48th wedding anniversary today….and I’m so blessed to have him in my life….you guys are just too cute together.
if you mix the sour cream with the marshmallows, let it sit in the fridge overnight, the sour cream acids breaks down the "powdery" feel in the marshmallows. makes them taste better.
You two are just the sweetest, I have really become quite fond of you both! As a live cook on Facebook, I think your videos are amazing, you can feel the care and love that you put into them through the screen. And you’re right Mandy, always measure cheese and garlic with your heart ❤ As I always say, a little bit extra for love! Lots of love and hugs from Australia 🇦🇺♥️🥰
Always measure fresh cracked pepper with my heart! Love it! As for sour cream--my Auntie Mame made a lovely fruit salad with Mandarin orange slices, fresh sliced strawberries, banana slices and pineapple tidbits. The dressing is 1 cup of sour cream, 2+ tablespoons of powdered sugar and vanilla to taste. Ever so tasty!
Same as you with a few additions; garlic, cheese, onion and we always double the sauce recipe! There's never enough 😂😂 blessings and love to you and your family 🙏🏽🙏🏽🕊️
My Mother-in-Law used to top her rhubarb jello with the marshmallow/sour cream topping. She used to mix it up and let it sit out on the counter, stirring it occasionally, until the marshmallows were almost melted into the sour cream. Yummy!
I wanted to tell you. When I was watching this and you were talking about using sour cream, you were hesitant. It made me giggle. I was there in the past. My grandmother would make sour cream salad. One big container of sour cream, mini marshmallows, a can of pineapple tidbits (drained). Add some shredded coconut. I try it and see if I need more coconut or marshmallows. After all that is mixed together. Top with mandarin oranges. Let chill in the fridge. Sounds so weird but dang good!! We love it in our family!! Try it and see what you think!!
My grandma ALWAYS made homemade cranberry orange sauce. Everything from scratch back in that day and I carry on that tradition with it. Delicious video today Mandy!!❤🎉 I love the color of your lipstick 💄
I'm a Midwest girl and as a child many times what we thought was whipped cream to add to the top of our Jello salad or already on the Jello salad we were served in restaurants was actually mayonnaise. I would rather consider sour cream than mayonnaise. This salad looks wonderful and I will definitely have to try it. Keep the good recipes coming!
Maude knows what time it is! After all, her name is "Maude"!! (and then there's Maude.... doo ta dooo)! Thank you for ALL your content, it's much appreciated! Your relationship gives me Relationship Goals! and Your cooking gives me Cooking goals!! Hundred Percent. Also, I am a HUGE fan of Miss Gracie Lou... I'm always happy to see her get her share of "Cheese Tax" and or "Fish Tax"!!
We make the Mississippi recipe with chicken often. I don't make sliders but I serve them on French Rolls with white cheddar cheese and some of the juice for dunking. Pretty darned good!
We have made the chicken sliders twice and they are a favorite! I'm a new subscriber but have loved your videos and recipes! We are in Texas. My husband and I have been together since I was a senior in high school so coming up on 24 years married and almost 30 years together! We have three girls and the oldest just started college this year and our youngest is in 4th grade! Keep going with the recipes, they are great!
We enjoy a similar jello salad for Christmas and Thanksgiving. It calls for strawberry jello, crushed pineapple and frozen strawberries. You divide the jello mixture in half in one layer and refrigerate until solid. Then add a layer of sour cream and top with remaining jello mixture. Put in fridge to firm up. The sour cream cuts the sweetness of the jello. I'd like to try this recipe with the raspberries and sour cream/ marshmallow topping. Sounds delicious!
Yum! Letting the marshmallows soak in sour cream for a couple hours makes them even more amazing. Making the big box of jello with the 2 c of water makes the jello salad thicker when the fruit is added.
My mother who was born in 1901 always told me you couldn't put pineapple in jello so I never tried to, another thing is the big box of jello with the small box liquid measurments makes a much firmer jellow, you might want to try that, it's really good and it might make all that fruit set up better.
Our family makes a fruit salad with crushed pineapple, save the juice and dice 2 apples in it so they don't turn brown, a can of mandarin oranges drained, chopped pecans or English walnuts, banana if you want and you can put the slices in the orange juice from your can to prevent them from turning. Add in some coconut if you like, stir all that mess together add a whole bag of mini marshmallows and 2 cups of sour cream. You can add maraschino cherries to, but you really have to drain all the juice unless you want pink fruit salad. The combination of all of the ingredients together is so good and the only fresh ingredients are your apples and bananas. I use 2 of each. Now you need a really big bowl to mix it all in cause it will feed an army, sorry no measuring done, great for a potluck or church get together and is nice in the summer time. We often have some type of variation of this at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Unfortunately I can't have the coconut anymore and all my fruit has to be peeled. But save the juice off the oranges and the pineapple and use it for the fruit that turns brown. Some kinda good.
I wanted to thank you for introducing Caraway pots and pans to me. My children had purchased a set for me for mother's day in the blue. I LOVE them, never had cookware like them. You are so right about easy clean up. Nothing sticks to them. I made no bake cookies and never had time to clean it before I left, so when I got home, of course, I washed the pot, and it slid out like I just made those cookies. I love your videos and tried a few recipes. I'm excited to try the sliders. Hope ya'll had a great time at the lake.❤
I haven’t even finished watching yet and had to pop in and say how amazing the Mississippi Chicken sliders look! Definitely going to try those! Also, another tip on the pita bread, the next time your at Sam’s pick up some of the authentic Greek pita bread that they sell. They’re not pockets, but it’s very soft and is traditional pita. They’re SO good! And they freeze beautifully. When you need them all you have to do is get out what you need and warm them in the oven or a skillet.
Mandy, you should try to make sundried tomato pesto. There are a gazillion recipes online. You can make use of some of the herbs in your garden. Making pesto is super simple and it's great on pasta, sandwiches, pizza, etc. it's wonderful for these scorching hot summer days. P.S. Those sliders look incredible. I am definitely making those!
So glad y'all resolved the big box jello, less water issue. Right after I watched the video, I took a nap and had a dream about this, solving the problem in my dream. Woke up and had to find this and comment!
I'm asking y'all to please pray for my daughter-in-law and granddaughter. She's having a few health hiccups and was admitted to the hospital. She's due next month with our granddaughter. Thank you in advance. God Bless.
We swap veggies here in Chicago too! Usually have to many tomatoes, zucchini and cucumbers. Will trade for anything but squash- no big, I would never be rude or wasteful! Someone is going to eat it and possibly not even know what they’re eating! Mandy made a squash spaghetti noodles type with her “fancy cheese grater” 🤣. Gotta Love that family 🥰
Just made the slow cooker chicken tonight. Two words: MAKE IT!! 😊❤❤ Going to make street tacos tomorrow night w/ the leftovers 👍 Thanks so much, I so enjoy watching you guys!! xo
I made the strawberry shortcake for my church picnic on Sunday, and I came home with nothing! My church devoured it. I only made two little changes to the recipe. I added in a little vanilla extract in with the powdered sugar and cream cheese mixture, and I put fresh strawberries on the top of the cool whip. Thank you again for sharing it!! It’s now going to be a staple in my house.
Hi Mandy and Steven, Love your videos! When I have too many tomatoes in the garden, I make what I call "Tomato Glut Sauce". Using a large roasting pan, core the tomatoes, no need to peel them, and cut them into large chunks. Add chunked onions, bell peppers, (maybe a jalapeno since you like spicy), garlic, zucchini (not too much though because it is so watery). Add Italian seasoning, salt and pepper to taste. This whole recipe is "from the heart" as I have never measured anything, just used what I have lots of. Cover the roasting pan and put into a 375 degree oven and roast until everything is reduced, soft and starting to get good color. The time depends on how much you fill up your baking pan. I also will stir it a couple of times while it's roasting so everything cooks more evenly. When it comes out of the oven, let it cool a bit, then put it into a food processor or blender in batches and blend into the best tomato sauce you've ever had. Taste for salt and pepper after it's blended. I freeze this in recipe sized portions. Enjoy!
All of this looks incredible. I grew up in Southeast Alaska, but now live in Georgia. I sure do miss all the fresh salmon and halibut!!! I guess I'm kind of a fish snob, because I am spoiled by the best. Measure from the heart---chocolate chips! Like, who only puts in half cup of chocolate chips into something?! I'm surprised Gracie Lou wasn't in there when you were cooking the halibut! Hugs!
They only use two cups of water to a big box because a firmer jello will set more like a creamy dessert. Use two boxes if you can’t find 1 large. Then use the 2 cups water. I love lime cottage cheese jello salad, I make mine sugar free my using sugar free jello and heavy cream instead of sweetened condensed milk. Add a little Splenda for sweetness. Love Jello salads, good for breakfast leftovers, too.
Hubby is NOT a fish eater ... but the Pesto Pasta looks amazing! I will try making it with some chicken, which he will eat and I think will pair wonderfully. Thank you for sharing all your favorite recipes. Love them!
My mom makes a dessert using sour cream I absolutely love. It's sour cream, coconut , fruit cocktail and mandarin oranges mixed together. I always love it during the holiday dinners
I had my first taste of sun-dried tomatoes!! I bought a pouch of tuna that had ball n sun dried tomatoes!! It was yummy!! I've heard of soaking the sun- dried tomatoes!! I'm sure they're all great suggestions!
I wholeheartedly agree with Duke's. We used to live in Tennessee and when we moved back to West Virginia, I was terrified we wouldn't be able to find it. The only thing Miracle Whip is good for is Deviled Eggs.
I just wanted you two to know that tonight for dinner we had the Mississippi chicken sliders. They were so delicious, I'm going to make them regularly. Thanks for sharing this recipe.
Just wanted to let you know I made the taco stuffed peppers and Mexican rice and it was awesome, I love watching your videos say a special hello to my boo Gracie Lou ❤
I make Mississippi Pot Roast and make hoagies with the meat, mayo and Provolone cheese. So good. I have to try the chicken and make these sliders. Looks so good. On the dessert, you probably should have used the large box of Jello because it would have firmed up better with less water. Not box directions. I love the jelled cranberry the best.
Hello there, Y'all are so much fun to watch! Do you have a cookbook or planning one for the future? Love so many of your recipes and I keep going back watching your "entertainment" cooking and would love to have them in one place. Keep the good stuff coming......
My heart measured ingredients are cheese and onions. The recipe will say a medium onion and I will put an entire large onion in. The recipe may ask for 3/4 of a bag of cheese, and I will put the entire bag of cheese, and maybe a little bit of a 2nd bag will be in the dish. 🌰 🧅 🧀
Yeah...just needed the larger box of jello. Not surprised the result would be unset. I love sour cream in sweet preparations! Can't wait to try that jello salad!❤
We were always a Hellman's family until about 5 years ago after an 11 days running the generator 1/2 the day power outage (Hurricane) I threw out everything in the fridge just to be sure. When I went to Publix to restock they only had Duke's - we love mayo so I bought it and we have never looked back.
I'm a jellied cranberry sauce girl. Definitely cheese and garlic with your heart. And nope didn't notice the spot lol I love Mississippi pork too. So good!
Always makes my day to watch your videos, Mandy. ❤ These look so good! I don't know what's been taking me so long to make the Mississippi roast or chicken but these sliders are tempting me even more. The jello salad looks refreshing...jellied cranberry sauce for me! Must have the ridges from the can 😂. Love Steven's thought about food..." food has no chance around me" 🤣 I agree with him. Y'all have a great weekend.
I've have a suggestion for you guys to try and that is the next time you make a pork loin or roast for the crock season as you would but cover it with a can of cranberry sauce. Cook as usual. I'm not sure if you ever tried it but we are not crazy for pork(except for bacon or ribs) but this way is the way it turns out beautiful and so tasty.
Tried all three instead of fish I used chicken and added chopped pecans to the toppings for the jello salad they were all delicious thanks keep them coming
I would LOVE it if you put the bloopers back in!! They are sooooo 🤣
The large box of Jell-O might’ve made that a little more firm maybe that’s why it was written that way looks good
Yes! A large box of jello with half of the recommended water will result in firmer jello that won't be watered down by the pineapple.
Yup! The large box and less water helps set it up better with all those goodies that are added to the jello 😊
I thought so too 😃
Exactly. Large packs of gelatin are hard to find in some places. If I see "large" box I just buy two small ones
And if you can’t find the large pack you can always use two small ones.
THANK YOU, Mandy for making and sharing my Mississippi Sliders recipe! And, I'm thrilled y'all like it so much. XOXO
Thank you! They are delicious!
Mandy, im thinking the big box of jello was right. With the less water it would be stiffer with all the other wet ingredients in it.
I am a widow and it is hard to cook for one but my dog loves leftovers 😂
Great recipes as always! I have to say that Gracie Lou always puts a smile on my face! ❤

I've done the Mississippi roast recipe with chicken and a pork loin roast. It's always good. 😊 Jellied cranberry for me!

My favorite Thanksgiving leftover is a roll with a little mayo, some turkey & jellied cranberry sauce topped with a super thin slice of onion. Yum!
Happy Anniversary 😊
And a thin bit of stuffing (slice)

I think our styles and foods we like are spot on. Anytime I need a dinner idea, this page is where I come to. Never ever disappointed! 😊
Girl, that jello recipe has 100% my attention. At holidays 1 MUST BUY 2 CANS OF cranberry sauce for any to make it to table. Mouth watering ! !😊

Oh, l must try the slidders and the jello salad
I like jellied cranberry sauce. I agree with cheese and garlic being what you measure with your heart.
Sour cream topping for fruit salad...in stead of marshmallows...add 2 tblsp brown sugar and tblsp orange liquor or flavor,,, over the top.

I’m with Steven, marshmallows really only belong in S’Mores. But since he likes the dessert topping, I’m willing to give it a chance. 😀

I have learned to use less water when making a jello salad. Takes care of the juiciness of the fruit.
we measure cheese with our 💕 in this family. cool whip and butter too
Just made the slow cooker chicken tonight. Two words:
MAKE IT!! 😊❤❤
Going to make street tacos tomorrow night w/ the leftovers 👍 Thanks so much, I so enjoy watching you guys!!
Measure with my heart, garlic, onions and cheese ♥️
The time depends on how
much you fill up your baking pan. I also will stir it a couple of times while it's roasting so everything cooks more evenly. When it comes out of the oven, let it cool a bit,
then put it into a food processor or blender in batches and blend into the best tomato sauce you've ever had.
Hugs!
I’m so glad you and Steven can laugh while you cook. It seems that just makes my day. Have a great weekend ❤😂😂😂😂
Love them!
Tried your paper towel when cutting onions hack last night. It worked great. Those red onions always make me cry but no tears last night.
Totally agree that cheese and garlic are measured with the heart ❤️
I wholeheartedly agree with Duke's. We used to live in Tennessee and when we moved back to West Virginia, I was terrified we wouldn't be able to find it. The only thing Miracle Whip is good for is Deviled Eggs.
I agree about the sun dried tomatoes. 9:23
I love dill weed with cod fish. I am thinking of any white flakey fish. ❤ I love your family videos. Also, some paprika on it with the dill.
My husband's family has a recipe that has a dessert similar to this with blueberries... so good 🤩
I have Mississippi pot roast in the crockpot right now. Next week, we will be trying the chicken!! Speechless Steven requires making this at home!!
Mandy you and Stephen are just so adorable Him wiping your face you are so sweet Gracie Lou is so precious God bless You all 🙏🏻✝️☮️🥰❤️💚💜🌹💕💙💐🍀🌺
You two are seriously just too cute! Love your channel. I measure chocolate chips with my heart.
Love you guys. Thank you for always sharing your lives and recipes. ❤
So good!
I just spent some time on Lake Keowee in South Carolina. It was so beautiful and relaxing. Hope you had a great time. Love your videos.
I’ve been loving, binging your videos. And loving how you say ole and bole and fole. totally southern.
Those sliders look yummy so does the jello salad. Yes we share veggie in our neighborhood. Enjoyed thanks for sharing. Hugs to all 🥰
I just love watching you and your family! You make me smile! 💕
Thank you, friends!
We appreciate you. 😊
Mandy, these look amazing, you guys are so comical together. Love your channel....
I love your kitty! She is precious.
Tried all three instead of fish I used chicken and added chopped pecans to the toppings for the jello salad they were all delicious thanks keep them coming
