Williams was found guilty April 10, 1979, and executed December 16, 1983. That’s pretty fast, for a capital case to go from being found guilty to executed. Nowadays, a convicted person can expect 20-25 years on death row.

I gotta admit,i did enjoy listening to Rev. Jackson speak when i was young. I was 13 in 1983 and remember his Presidential campaign in '84 and he did well in the debates. Seemed to make more sense than Gary Hart and Walter Mondale. Maybe if he won the Democratic nomination in '88 we could've avoided Daddy Bush. Probably not though.

I'm sorry but I feel a life for a life noone has the right to take another's life they can't get that back. If someone takes another's life, that person shouldn't be allowed to breathe and take up space in this planet and have three hots and a cot. How fair is it to the victim or victims they murdered and the families? What about the people he hurt? the court system don't think about the hurting families whose loved ones was taken from them at the hands of some deranged creep who had no value for human life. . it seems like that the courts have been more for the criminals. However in this one I'm surprised and at the same time glad to see that they did denied Robert Wayne Williams commute to life in prison.I feel that they made the right decision to execute him. I don't feel sorry for people like that Anyone that commits terrible crimes like this they deserve what they get I do not feel sorry for people like that, got to pay for your crimes that's how I look at it. You take another's life so should yours be taken, and it's Biblical and I don't know how people can do bad things and think they gotten away with it. Nothing in this life goes unpunished even in the he next life if they don't pay in this one because God is a just God.

    Interesting facts:
2% of counties in the US account for the majority of death row cases. 2%. In that vein, it's hardly who we are as a nation.
The execution rate for the poor and minorities - compared to stats for Caucasians in similar cases - are much higher. (It bears noting that this is true even when all parties are represented by public defenders.)
Of great concern is the number of post-sentencing exonerations is jarring, as well. In a system without appeals, these people would be dead and their innocence moot.
There are also several cases, particularly in Texas, in which there are good chances that innocent people were put to death.
Adding irony to these statistics, the most executions occur in locales with the highest number of evangelical Christians.

4 years was usually fast. You've got to wonder if race had something to do with it. I use to believe in the death penalty, however I have seen to many situations where those prosecuting these cases think that if they don't get Capitol Punishment then they didn't win. It shouldn't be a case of win or lose. It should be a case of justice. My State doesn't have the death penalty, and the death penalty actually costs the taxpayers more money in most cases than it does to lock someone up for the rest of their life.
