Hey Justin ... Im an old metal drummer from the 80's hair metal era and I was in a horrible motorcycle wreck that left me semi crippled. Anyway to make a long story short Ive decided to get back on the horse and drum again after years of physical therapy... Let me just say OMG things have truly changed and I am way outa my comfort zone with all of these choices. However I did play on an electronic kit at a friends house and now Ive got the bug ... I just wanted to thank you for all your video help and Im searching for a top of the line all I can get money is no issue kinda E-Kit. What kinda scares me is that Im not really an engineer settings kinda drummer ( Im old school )
Thanks again for your help Justin !!!

Can’t beat that, Justin’s buying guides are great for people who are just getting into edrums. He had similar video 3/4 years ago when I started and it gave me invaluable knowledge that would not be obvious to me as an acoustic drummer

I think for old gear that's not Roland, the Alesis DM10 (especially the old module) is where it's at. That module is better than most everything that's out now, and I never had a single issue with the entire kit. It was the most reliable setup I've ever been on. Should have never sold it - regret, regret and more regret.

I'm looking to buy a potential 2Box Drumit Five (first gen) on sale for $1100- I offered $600 knowing I am low-balling out the gate- but the thing is there was another kit a fair distance away that was selling for $700. The seller is taking 3 days at a time to get back to me... wish me luck guys!

People, if you wan't to find good, cheap, used e-drums go to ebay! 65 Drums explained everything you need to know about buying used drums. I've found a maybe 10 times used Millenium MPS-850 that normally costs 650€/$ for 120€!!! I couldn't believe it at first and thought it has to be a scam, broken, not all parts or something but no, and yes I drove there and bought I from private and brought it home! What's important is that you read all about the product on ebay what the seller writes, private or company. Is it broken, does it have all parts and is it really the one in the picture.. Best is to write the seller and ask some questions. That's really important and every seller answers gladly! Most of these are almost never used or sometimes maybe only opened and looked on. Often there are companies that sell resent perfect ones or like he says refurbished but perfectly repaired or exhibit articles that were maybe 10 times played a little. They are often for half the price or less and with guaranty.

Here’s a story I recently went through, I was selling my nitro mesh that had an extra symbol, my dad was selling it for 250$ usd but what happened was is this dude traded a somewhat crappy but workable enough double kick, a rlly good sabian ride, a decent enough zylgin ride or crash can’t rlly tell, and a sabian China which I haven’t used much cuz too loud, but the sabian ride is phenomenal so moral of the story, maybe offer a trade with someone instead of taking cash unless ur gonna use said cash for something specific

Hi Justin... a guitarist here trying to get into edrumming (mainly for demos and be able to save the day if something happens to our drummer hahaha) I would love a Roland kit but they are quite expensive... I was thinking what would be a good kit that I can upgrade as time goes... I am thinking of my Squier guitars which I have upgraded with better electronics, pickups, etc over time to the point that they are gig and studio worthy. Loving the channel and thanks in advance.

As far as "cerified refurbished", I only know that I bought an Xbox 360 refurbished and it lasted six months before something happened to it...boom! Not quite so dramatic but there was this burning smell...! Anyway, I had gotten a warranty for it and GameStop honored that. My brother-in-law bought a refurbished acoustic-electric guitar and saved $300 on it and it's perfectly fine, has been an awesome guitar for fifteen years. So, it IS possible to get great refurbished gear, just make sure it's been certified and know your options if your gear goes belly up.

In the last few days I keep seeing old Roland TD-3 and 4 e-kits being sold at ridiculous prices. One of the TD-3 kits for sale in the Seattle area was listed at $1100! The person advertising it wrote, "I paid over $1500 for this kit but am knocking off several hundred. This is a great deal on an electronic drum kit!". Really? All rubber pads except for the snare for $1100? People forget that once they buy anything, it begins to depreciate in value. That $1100 kit is worth $500 today, if the seller is lucky.

The Guitar Center floor models are always broken, so I'm baffled on how they even manage to sell a full kit, especially online. If you don't demo them within a week of set up in the store, there's always at least one pad that won't trigger, or the module screens busted. LoL

    • @RADERFPV
      @RADERFPV 3 роки тому +1

I'm lucky, the Guitar Center in my area hardly has any visitors, so the edrum sets are all like brand new. I'd actually buy one of the td17kvx or td27kv they have on display if they cut a a good deal, but they won't budge for me.

    • @saltygh0st124

Yeah, they aren't too good at deals there anymore since the financial troubles began. I live near a major city with one of the huge stores and the drums get wrecked quick.

Was thinking buying up a set of pearl tru trac heads. I have a 14” (plugged in my older td3 and triggers fine) i use on my quiet kit that is mic’d along with my Gen16s and aquarian super pads. For $250 for a 10,12,14,and kick. Non adapters which i can make pretty easily.
I’ve been down the DIY a conversions and Roland modules. I thought would be nice to switch off the mics and use the tru trac heads when i want a change. Any thoughts?

I just bought a td27kv and it's so worth the extra bux. The digital ride and digital snare are a treat and the sounds are very adjustable and user friendly in the module. Both are good kits though. I'm not a fan of the pads on the TD17 personally. That's what made me go with the td27kv. I had an alesis nitro 1st running it with Superior Drummer 3 on my iMac. That wasn't a bad setup and I added a dual trigger 14" cymbal for a ride because a one zone ride is very unpleasant to play. That's almost the main reason I chose the td27kv. The digital ride is incredibly realistic. Another strong consideration for could me was the vad306. It features the td17 module but I'm sure you could work a deal where you get the td27 or even a td30 (which are still incredibly nice).

@@solomonlee2222 Thank you so much, I really appreciate it. I made up my mind (finally, after about 5 weeks research) last night to fork over the extra cash and get the TD27kv that you got. It's little bit out of my price range, but I rather buy nice and not twice. I know I'd be a lot happier with it in the long run, especially with it having a few extra inputs for expandability. I'm with you on the tiny pads of the 17, just a little too small for my liking, and I'm not looking to replace components, just add more to the existing kit. I'll have the money in 1 more week, saving me from having to finance - that was my big thing, not having the money really and not wanting to finance another thing I don't really need, but really want. It's worth it though, I know I'll love it for a long time to come. I also like the bigger screen on the module, much easier for my bad eyes to see. I'm rambling now, just super excited to get this kit! Have a great weekend :)

Just from reading in chats its obvious Alesis isnt quite Roland level yet. Way too many people having to send back stuff for replacement. You just dont see comments like that about Roland. You get what you pay for. Roland is steep but it last decades problem free if not abused.
