The complete performance is now available as a bonus DVD with 'Hidden Treasures Vol 2', which is the second of 3 special Seekers 'rarities' releases by Decca. I was at Expo '67 when I was 6 years old. Sure wish I could say I remember this but my memories going that far back are pretty vague. I just remember sitting listening to some music that seemed really pleasing to me, and would like to THINK it was the Seekers!!
Oh Judith unbelievable two years had past since youv'e been gone. You are so missed beautiful lady. ♥♥♥🌹🌹🌹😭😭😭
I was there too and watched the concert 1967 I was 14 and still remember it just as clear as it was yesterday
My brother was there 14 too and me I was in the little kids cart! Too young to remember!
Hi Dana
Do you remember if this presentation happened on the Patriots day of Quebec?
I was there that summer but not for this concert.
What a wonderful time. When people who sang actually had talent.
So sad to hear of Judith‘s passing away on August 5, 2022. Her body grew tired over the years, but her voice always carried on and she still sounded great. What a wonderful lady she was.
One of my all time favorite songs....great lyrics and wonderful NRG!
So sad to hear of Judith’s passing yesterday here in Australia. Loved the Seekers.
Very much so ..... they still have millions of fans around the world, and definitely here in the UK.
Great performance. Great group. Judith has the most beautiful voice. My parents loved them and so do I. Their music is timeless
She made her own clothes. Humble supreme talent, our Judith and the boys.
Apparently she also darned the boys' socks and did all the washing and ironing for everyone .
It was a different time
Phil Anderton so much better when husbands and wives knew their respective roles. Family life is going the way of decadent Rome
@@tonybarfridge4369 nobody wants to iron your socks? poor you
Yet she left the band after only a few years to be a solo jazz singer.
@@linsioux217 yes and how did that work out?
Lovely. Such a beautiful sound. God bless Judith. Love all of you!
Wow great energy!🔥❤
I was but a baby, but discovered them later in life. One of my favorite bands. Judith has the best female vocals I have ever heard.
Guys sound great as always, and Little Judith is cute as a button!..as always
Sadly, Judith is no longer with us.
@@italia689 yes I heard the sad news. 😔
Gone at 79 she can now rest in peace 🙏 🕊.

Judith is a real Sweetie Person and the guys always sing well also.
They all look elegant and always have Sunny Energy ! ! !
You probably know that Bruce Woodly wrote
‘ I am Australian ‘ and sings the first verse and Judith
singing second verse at Meyer Bowl Australian Football
Finals. It is worth hearing and seeing THIS ! ! !

In my opinion here she is the most beautiful and cute than ever although she was always beatiful cute and humble.
This was one of my favorites when I was 17.I still remember the words.
Holy moly... this is good
I love The Seekers. They resonate Australian life.
Just life in general.
She had a voice of an Angel
That doesn't let the boys' voices overpower it.
Beautiful and unforgettable!
Quel beau souvenir! J'étais à Expo 67, avec mon groupe d'étudiants (es).
J'avais 19 ans...
Bruce was the co-writer with Paul Simon (Simon & Garfunkel) It appeared on the Seekers LP, Come the day
Outstanding instrumentals, harmonies and of course Judith Durham’s sublime voice.
Fantastic!
Phenomenal group .... and a superb version of this great song.
First time I’ve listened to this and it is absolutely fantastic
Aussie Legends. 🏁
Keith Potger came up with some great 12 string intros and fills to Seeker songs. "Allentown Jail" is classic.
The flood of sound from Keith's 12-string guitar is remarkable. They actually would be able to play in large venues for quite large atttendances without support of orchestra.
Absolutely fabulous teamwork -- one of the great instrumental and vocal groups of that era.
Keep these precious little clips coming Rich.
Yes, please very much do! I've never seen this footage before, and it just sounds wonderful. Bruce is just brilliant here.
This music Is fantastic
For a “bad end of a relationship” song, this is so upbeat and catchy!
There's something about ending relationships that often makes for upbeat music! A _lot_ of (for example) Abba's songs are actually about sad subjects (including breakups), but you'd never know if you just paid attention to the tunes.
The principle of sad songs with upbeat music was a principle of the 'yé-yé' pop songs of France in the sixties, especially those composed and sung by Francoise Hardy. Hardy's songs (in french and English) have her trademark sad romantic character but are often in this style. The most successful Canadian singer-writer of the 2010s, Coeur de Pirate (Béatrice Martin) has discussed this often and some of her hit songs have a similar contrast between subject and tempo. Find them on UA-cam, many times.
Wow, I remember well the World Expo 67 in Montreal, Canada. Seekers are a very likeable musical group for me. At that time, Czechoslovakia came to Montreal with a complete world cultural novelty - Laterna magica. A very successful combination of film and theater together on one stage. I don't know if Seekers met our exhibitors and Laterna magica in Montreal. Maybe the Seekers got inspired and recorded a concert or at least a song with Laterna magica. If such a record exists somewhere, please send me a link. Judith Durham: "Rest in Peace!"
Song was written by Paul Simon. Judith is looking as beautiful as ever. Fell in love with her when I was 11 years old.
At that time Paul Simon was running about London trying to get people to buy his songs. He even approached Val Doonican.
It's written by paul simon AND Bruce Woodley!
RIP, Judith
I have never seen this performance. Wonderful! Thank you for posting it.
Thank you Rich for this beautiful song.
Great performance ! I grew up with the version by The Cyrkle and hadn’t heard this performance by The Seekers. And I didn’t realize that Bruce co-wrote the song. Loved it! Thank you, Rich. 👍
In my opinion this Seekers version is even better than the original ....
@@barryh.4220 Same here. 👍 IMO the original sounds like a bouncy pop tune of the time but The Seekers add some soul with their voices and instruments. Reminds me of their wonderful coffee house performances.
Simon and Garfunkel did this one live on occasion. That makes sense considering Simon co-wrote it!
….co wrote it with Paul Simon while he was in the UK.
Superb sound ..... what a group the Seekers were ... Judith Durham phenomenal voice.
Bruce Woodley co-wrote this song with Paul Simon before Paul Simon got big with Simon & Garfunkel! Woodley is an under rated song writer.
Beautiful....magical song! 🎈🎈
Never heard this performance before, great!
Seems sort of ironic that at Expo 67, where the world came together to build pavilions celebrating modern technology, this performance was recorded in glorious B&W.
LOVELY...! 🌷
Bonjour du Québec!
Thanks for yet another great video Rich to feed my Judith addiction. Love viewing them. Judith is frequently mentioned as a girl next door as to her looks and demeanor. In my opinion Judith is the Queen of all girls next door, bar none!
I think she is the greatest and most beautiful woman singer ever to step on stage.
I was at Expo 67 but too young to attend their concert.
No backing tracks there. Fabulous
Gordon Lightfoot introduced Canadian Railroad Trilogy. What a year with these great artists!
I love Judith Durham & The Seekers! I was born in 1961 and grew up listening to all 60's & 70's music! But even though Bruce Woodley of The Seekers helped co-write this song, I don't think The Seekers version ever charted. The most popular version of this song was recorded by The Cyrkle that reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1966.
The Seekers version of Red Rubber Ball didn't make the charts because it was never released as a 45 RPM single. It's a track off their 1966 album "Come The Day" (AKA in the USA as "Georgy Girl"). That album certainly DID chart!
Good thing they enjoyed playing their songs especially with people just staring at them unlike todays audiences so involved and participating to performances, so great to see this post thanks again good job Rich from CHICAGOLAND DANNYBOY
Love this...thank you!!
U was at Expo 67. Sure wish I had been at this concert.
One of my favorite groups...I wish that I knew they were there....I missed them and probably was in the Russian exhibit....GRRRRR
Still great in Oct. 2021…
Loved that song so much ,you did guy's it so good
Thank You. Just the best
I like ANYTHING SEEKERS~STILL~in 2021!
2022 ... 🙂 (probably decades more.)
@@G6JPG Indeed~Forever!
They were playing that day at Place des Nations!
Epic Folk song.
There is a great pop punk version of Red Rubber Ball by The Diodes (from 1977).
Always loved this song, but only heard it by the Cyrkle. But they do a great job.
Maybe I was there that day, I was on the site almost every day! But it’s so long ago….this magical age ( the year of the Beatles, Magical mystery tour Album!!))
To see the twelve string sing lead vocal is cool. He has a great voice, imho. The twelve sing guitar has the full sound.
Hermosa música 😘💯😍💞💝💖🤗🤩💐🌹
Aí que saudade féz parte da minha adolescência!
As displayed on an N64 😁🤣😁
(I kid, I KID!)
❤❤❤❤
i was born in Montreal that year 8)
I heard the version on their album.
Another Seekers gem from Rich's archives. How do you do it, Rich? THANKS!
Buenardo siempre esta en mis videos..¡¡
🙌
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Great music! Does anyone know if the Seekers
performed elsewhere in Canada?🇨🇦
Wow that crowd wouldn't be allowed here today in montreal, they're not distancing and nobody's wearing any masks...can you imagine such a thing !?
👏👏♥️👍💕
Rich - do you have their performance of Come The Day from this show on film? I have found the recording of it on the Seekers channel but not the video. I would love to see the clip if you have it but perhaps it might not be available at all.
Hi Stephen, I do, but have an understanding that I won't upload too much from The Seekers' available output to encourage people to buy it! This then prompts the publishers to release more & everyone wins 👍 The song can be found on the bonus DVD with Vol2 of 'Hidden Treasures'.
@@rich963 Thanks for letting me know
🎶🎶🎶🎬👍☘️
Now Judith is gone. So sad.
1967
Didn’t really hear Judith’s voice until about 2/3 of the way through. Great rendition though.
Such DOUR expressions on a lot of the audience, then I realized --- Ohhh, it's a French-speaking audience! I'll bet a lot of them weren't understanding the humor in the story.
Notice that they don't have their mics in their mouth
ALL THE MEN
LOOK LIKE GIANTS.
How tall are they? 🐦 👧 🤓 📚 🎶 💃 🕺
Odd how little rhythm is in the audience - the crowd looks dead.
An important show and audio recording. However, I have to say that the video technique of AI or interpolation or digital recreation (not sure what even to call it) is an abomination and does a great disservice to the existing film record of this great band. 0:44
The guys in the audience behind them look like they've been constipated for weeks...
Would you say the same thing of the audience attending opera, jazz, or Broadway performances? Same thing -- they're there to view an artistic performance, not to be part of it.
歌❓男の歌手⁉️上手くない❗(笑)😅😅😅
So stiff nOT GOOD AT ALL
Sounds like Judith kind of takes over the lead vocal near the end
Simply fantastic !!!
