  • Accord is among the most popular vehicles sold in America and for 2011, Honda gives it a fresh new face and a few other tweaks. Is it enough to keep the suddenly competitive Sonata and Optima at bay? Tom Voelk checks out a top-of-the-line EX-L sedan with navigation.

Little do people know that in Japan this is one of Honda most luxurious cars. The Acura TSX is actually called the Accord in Japan and is the cheaper car when compared to the U.S. Accord (AKA Inspire in Japan). Hyundai makes good cars but the interior quality and overall quality of the car itself will not come close to this thing.
Acura TSX (Honda Accord Japan) MSRP 26K
Honda Accord (Honda Inspire Japan) MSRP 36K

@jvrdlc agree. is because the navigation, it is a trim level and not an option like other cars, and that cost 2k. otherwise the EX-L can cost u 30K

@flatblackstrat Your right. It's marketed as a luxury car while in N. America it's a family car. The reason it's expensive is they have better materials like real wood trim, and more technology like the ability to watch TV/DVD on the Sat Nav. I can't imagine how better the materials must be from the N. American Accord since the Accord sold in N. America are high quality already.

@ilovecars1996 this is what ive thought for a long time. i can see why it would be nice to just walk up your car, open it, and push a button to turn it on without ever taking your keys out of your pocket; but i dont understand why everyone is obsessing over them. apparently they are even looking to make them a required feature.

@2Kriss2Kross I don't know about all that. The TV tuner would make absolutely no difference in the end price. I just got back from Autobachs today and you could get a portable GPS with TV tuner for 300 bucks so that would not add any price to the car. I think it has to do more with safety regs than cost reduction. I don't think any stock head unit in the US has television. You may be right on the wood thing though, but judging from pictures the interiors are identical.

@Charles2337 yeah thats why i said that the first time i saw it i thought it was some cheap wal mart accessory then i saw a few more and realized that was the "redesigned" accord

@DriveCarReviews i think they are preserving that feature for Acura, so it can be that much more exclusive. correct me if i am wrong but only the TL with SH-AWD has push button? I'm sure the next gen Accord would prob get it.

@ilovecars1996 same with toyota and lexus. nissans still putting out some odd designs like the but the new versa suggests that they may be headed that way too

@carguy379 In Japan and other countries, rear fog lights take the place of those strips and don't look that bad. But as always, they screw it up for the North American market.

i understand keyless ignition is convenient and all, but it's just to start the car. why is it such a big deal?

@DriveCarReviews You see so many movies with machines that do everything for us, and everyday a new technology pops up, telling us its a more convenient way to do stuff, and while i agree, i still see that our future is becoming like the movie WALL-E , where we are travelling on chairs, cause it is more convenient !!
Its just my vision of the future:)

i hate those reflector strips they added on the back. they look like they're just a cheap peel and stick accessory and look tacky in my opinion
