  • Working on leading with the kicks but still having everything else sound like its leading and/or glued on top. Its very difficult for me. Thats why I'm practicing! :D

This is just the best overhead view I could get while getting as much of the kit in frame as I can, due to height restrictions from the mic stand I'm using for my phone camera, and its position due to the shelves behind me and where my kit is placed in front of it. I figure its not nessecary to get the full picture of every cymbal as long as you can hear and see what I'm hitting. Thanks man! I'll never stop! I'm growing with you guys and I'm so greatful for you all!

Other reasons too. The mount on the stand that holds my phone is cheap, and the floor sometimes shakes from my drumming causing a pretty big sway in how the mic stand supports itself. If I decided to hang it directly over the drums I wouldn't get enough height, I'd basically be zoomed into the middle toms and snare, and it would likely fall out of the mount. Also the mic on the phone picks up alot of the frequencies pretty decently and evenly I find in that position. The speaker that my module is projecting the kick drum sound from is right behind me and under the phone/mic so it picks it up pretty directly, and with it being mostly a high frequency it meshes well with the actual acoustic kick sound not interfering too badly with its lows, or the rest of the kits lows. Since I got a better speaker for my triggers it honestly doesn't matter too too much, but I like it being right there and not even possibly having a note escape being captured. Of course due to dynamics some will but the goal with triggers is to have a more even kick sound. Hope this makes sense to you!

Also, you can see from the rough difference of angle that varies across my videos where I tried to get this exact same view, you can see on the reflection of the kick drums beater heads my pedals are doing everything you can hear, there is no false playing here, not that im saying you're saying that. Just incase anyone thinks im trying to hide something im not hahaha.

Why do your bass pedals sound like a metronome? Is that because of triggers?

I'll take that as a compliment!! Hahahaha jk. Usually that would be because of super precise playing(which is a rarity for me) hahaha. But yea the triggers help to clear up the kick sound helping them be heard more clearly through the rest of the abrasive and overriding sounds. Also wearing headphones with the kicks coming in through them help me hear and feel everything even more instantly making iit even easier for me to play soundly in time. I'm not using a click in my ears here though. Only have in one video on here. I can try in some future videos! Clicks are intimidating to me, but I do love them as they help me stay in time and im not incapable.
