Keep doing this stuff. Twenty or thirty years from now, each of you will still be telling the story of this trek. Thank you for making and sharing this video.
Aw yeah, so cool. I loved the collab vibe on the footage and how the different personalities added unique depth to the story. I felt like I got to know you guys. What a wild route... this helped me understand this trail more and got me thinking about lots of factors if I attempt it in the future. It's an incredibly fierce and demanding route, but equally beautiful and awe-inspiring. Thx John. (p.s. GREAT music as always. I want it!)
I've never spoken of this. I have a scar on my right upper arm from night terrors that I had from some stuff for lack of a better word from being in the US Navy. Hiking/backpacking has been the most relevant thing that I have done to ease the experience. What you guys have done is amazing to me and now I'm just happy to be on the average trail. You guys are amazing. Thank you for sharing.
Took me a while to getting around to watching this since it was 30 minutes. I wanted to sit back and really enjoy it. I felt like I was there with you. Thanks for making this. It was awesome.
love the fire and camp shots...all you guys vibe so well together ..looks like a great time up there ..alcohol and crampons that's what I'm talking about..
Cool group great times . Looks like your close to Iceberg lake which is just below the chute at elevation around 13,200' give /take. The old mountaineers route. Class 3 . Guys/gals it would have been a hard go on a clear day. Try another time as you said . Thanks for sharing your Z ADVENTURES. ✌OUT. PS. I've made summit on that route 1 time and the conventional route 1 time as well 2014 15.
Love the movie! I got super excited when I saw you guys were doing the mountaineers route! Reminds me of the time I attempted it in the middle of May alone and didn’t see anyone else on the mountain. Got to 13,500 while it was snowing around me and my lungs were screaming but my turn around time had came so I went back and completed it the following April for spring break :)
17:13 the best shot of the sierras from the inyos. as DV and whitney regulars, Roxana and I thoroughly enjoyed this video WOW, well done (neat while you all were on whitney, we were in DV )// Considering the conditions this year you all sure did make it WAY up there, probably smart to stop where you did. Amazing production, glad we watch it on a big screen thanks for taking us with you.
I think it’s the video game like music in the background that just makes me know that the next level is always coming. Keeps me watching, for sure. Well made! Great time! Always fun to look back on.
Pepper flake is the coolest! That dude is so chill... Pretty epic goal and experience! You guys were going up Whitney via the mountaineer route? Field testing those Pa'lante packs!
2 winter Whitney attempts. 2nd one we got 500 Ft had to turn back. Going up is optional, down is mandatory. Thanks for making the smart decision. Amazing video! Convinced me to bring some Whisky on my next trip.
What an amazing adventure! Loving your new documentary style format! All the best things of your channel but more of a focus on the others and the story along the way. I still would like to see you as the subject from time to time. I’ve been both places but now I want to try this! Thanks for the inspiration!
I haven't really enjoyed the very short vids of the last year or so though they are all nicely produced, but this is one of the best since the thruhike vids - thanks -
The idea of Whitney in mid April is scary, to me. But I'm just an old fart who likes to walk, not somebody with skills! Love the space music in your vids.
Looks like y’all had a real hoot! Seams like a super fun route and I’m certainly inspired to pull that off soon. Where those the Nepal’s I saw? How where they working for you?
What camera did you use to record this? Still using the Sony a7S II from your video blog 9 months ago that went over your setup? Epic journey as always. Keep doing what you love.
the previous day was good for summiting but we didn't plan going up that day so we made it to upper boy scout at around 2 or 3. on our day, a guided group that got a very early start turned around around where we did later, reaching us right around when we first put on our crampons. getting an even later start than we did on summit day honestly seems like it would have had the best chance at success given how it progressively cleared up throughout the day. i would imagine the wind up there would have stayed similarly intense, though. just wasn't the right day for it.
What's the fun in that?! If you can't break an ankle, it's not worth doing. I get the feeling they didn't all have a lot of experience with crampons and ice axes.
"Lowest to higher than Nick". Be real, I doubt anyone was higher than Nick.
Really enjoyed the mix of perspectives. It doesn't get much better than a good adventure with great company. Loved the tunes as well. Thanks, John.
Damn John, love seeing you in a "hiking" video/vlog again. You do great things with editing of vids. Love your work man. More of this!!!
God damn this was edited well. Best doc I've watched in a long, long time.

John: don’t ever stop making videos and music...truly inspiring! Amazing adventure you all had!
Wow, John! Wow... this is my favorite video you've made. It's super fun, funny, and intimate in an untouched way.

The Easy Rider of hiking films! Without the sad parts! Thanks John!
Took me a while to getting around to watching this since it was 30 minutes. I wanted to sit back and really enjoy it. I felt like I was there with you. Thanks for making this. It was awesome.

Wow....another instant classic from John.
I feel like all of Pepperflake's hitches should automatically be in convertibles.
Your color grading is fucking sick man

How did you get David Lynch to make a hiking video?
What camera did you use
Loved it! Do you ever consider making some of your music available?

Cool! Congrats! I have done the H2L and the L2H.....Not easy!
You and John set the standard for L2H

Awesome‼️🙌
Is there any way to get the music from 6:44? I dig that so much, would love to add it to my playlist for when I am working
BTW, I don't mean for free, will gladly pay
The soundtrack is in the description
John Zahorian sorry, didn’t see that. Thanks! Your videos are awesome, really making me try to figure out how to make my life more of what I want.
What camera did you use to record this? Still using the Sony a7S II from your video blog 9 months ago that went over your setup?
Epic journey as always. Keep doing what you love.
same body, new lens. sony a7sii w/ tamron 28-75 f/2.8. nick's footage is iphone. maria's is canon m50
@@JohnZahorian nice! Thanks for the reply. Been looking for a decent rig for a while. Been using the old Sony RX100M2 since 2013.
😲🤘thanks for the views...awesome
I had the same idea but I can’t climb Mt Whitney because I’m visually impaired
I believe Everest has been climbed by a visually impaired person. I know you could do it with the right people around you.
How long does that hike take
Did you start from Upper Boy Scout Lake early in the morning? Wondering if there would have been better conditions to summit earlier (as per usual).
the previous day was good for summiting but we didn't plan going up that day so we made it to upper boy scout at around 2 or 3. on our day, a guided group that got a very early start turned around around where we did later, reaching us right around when we first put on our crampons. getting an even later start than we did on summit day honestly seems like it would have had the best chance at success given how it progressively cleared up throughout the day. i would imagine the wind up there would have stayed similarly intense, though. just wasn't the right day for it.
Maybe next time. Odds are the mountain will still be there for a while. ;)
Nice video. Well done. I assume you were going up the Mountaineers Route on Whitney?
Hi John, what hat are you wearing? Looks super shaded. I love the videos btw. Very, very inspiring. Thanks :)
something i grabbed at walmart a couple years ago
awesome.
great movie, great adventure. good vibe.
What is the structure at 16:35?
What a blast!
Great film!
So dope!
Hi john would you mind to put a list of your gears at the last part of climb. Thanks appreciate it 😉
La sportiva Nepal cube boots, BD sabertooth crampons, grivel ice axe
John Zahorian how. Out The jackets? They’re look lightweight though,. Thanks a lot
mr flake and i just wore our frogg toggs. maria had a patagonia something
That gnarly down climb pepperflake did, was that in Long John canyon?
Josh Cross yeah, we got a little off trail...
Journey before destination
What an amazing video and hike. Was someone higher than the highest man? 😉😎
April 17 is my birthday too 😆
take off your crampons before glissading!
What's the fun in that?! If you can't break an ankle, it's not worth doing. I get the feeling they didn't all have a lot of experience with crampons and ice axes.
Me too!!!
Pepperflake is fire
