I have always wanted to do Rainier but didn't have time/$$ for a two day adventure but this video inspired me and two experienced friends to do the one push this past weekend! Was an absolute blast and fun to compare our fitness (which we *thought* was pretty good to yours ;). We ended up leaving Paradise at 10:30PM, summiting at 9:15AM and getting off around 3:30PM. We had some route finding issues on the way up in the morning which probably cost us an hour in total and then it was so darn hot by 10AM that hydration (needed over 6L in the heat total) problems slowed the descent considerably. Big props to you guys for making it look so easy but as a warning to those thinking about it at home, this is a serious mountain where you can get yourself into trouble very quickly. It's also a real roll of the dice with the weather/conditions, no parties summited the two days before or one after.
Brings back memories. In '69 I lived and worked at Paradise - first job out of high school, and taught the climbing school course at Paradise that beginners were required to take before climbing to Muir, then summit next day. Did the peak in one day, as I had to be back at work down below! Part of job was carrying trash from Muir to Paradise, and we were 'competitive' - my record pack weight was 165 pounds. Once we use a rescue sled to transport a 'gumby', (as we called dead climbers - because often they were frozen into odd positions), down to Paradise. The frozen body was wrapped in an orange plastic tarp, and when we reached the dirt path above Paradise a woman tourist asked if she could sit on the sled (we were putting the wheel on at that point) for a picture. We obliged, and then she asked what we were carrying. Not sure, but I think she still is screaming and running to this day. Good times!

I climbed Rainier in 1974 with an 85lb pack not counting ropes in REI stiff rental boots and cotton socks, (hey, I was 16). I went with two out of shape guys who were so slow we had to sleep in the crater and descend the next day. It was quite the adventure.
I've watched this video probably a dozen or so times and every time I hear Danny say it took them 6 hours to summit... I'm dumbfounded. I hope to get to that level one day.
Right before the 5 minute mark when the sun was starting to come up in the back ground and make its way just over the horizon.. (or the "line" for all you flat earthers) was a beautiful sight to see. Mount Rainier is somewhat unique among north american mountains because it’s the tallest peak of the Cascades and relatively close to a number of big outdoors cities.
Since I cannot give your videos more than one “thumbs up” I have taken to doing so on all the positive comments. Happy for your partner on this one (I view Rainier now as he did years ago). Thanks for the inspiration and great content!
This was a lot of fun watching you guys. I just started mountain climbing within the last couple months. Started hiking the white mountains here in New Hampshire. We don't have anything quite as high as this, but I just started my checklist to complete the 48 4,000+ footers we do have.
I stare at that beauty every day, I live in the little city of Puyallup. My sisters brother climbed this mountain well over 20 times, he has not regretted it since
Summarizes the experience very nicely! Stirs recollections of my trip up with RMI. We did the “pancake seminar”- three nights at Camp Muir with some work in crevasse rescue. Back in those days, my climbing buddy and I could gain ~2500’/hour, but this terrain isn’t easy. For you to gain around a couple thousand feet per hour average is quite impressive! Congratulations on a successful BIG day.
Awesome video, you make it look easy! The numbers don't lie, 9000 ft elevation gain! But you were not reckless, you had all the appropriate gear and proper fitness, well done! Plus a bluebird sky summer day certainly helps!

Hey, you have produced an excellent video. Thank You!. I have climbed all of the major routes on Rainier and was in the first party to circumnavigate the mountain at about 10,00 ft. But that was 40 years ago. I cannot believe the number of people on Rainier! Just look at the beaten down trail in your video. I would have left high camp at midnight in order to be home in Spokane by midnight. But hey, you cannot say that you have done the Pacific Northwest without climbing Rainier.

Mount Rainier is somewhat unique among north american mountains because it’s the tallest peak of the Cascades and relatively close to a number of big outdoors cities.
rainier is close to many cities but not accessible for a huge part of the year since it can gets an average of 17 meters of snow a year.
Well-Tempered Clavier and early morning Rainier.
Perfect pairing.
Go get 'em!
"Hittin' the shake weights" to train for Reiner. You guys are awesome, keep sendin'!
Was just at Ranier National Park last weekend. Thank you for sharing this adventure with us.
Hiked pinnacle peak with the family. A great place for adventure.
You guys did rainier in a single push of 6 hours? WOW!!!!
These guys are in phenomenal shape. Well done boys
Awesome video, you make it look easy! The numbers don't lie, 9000 ft elevation gain! But you were not reckless, you had all the appropriate gear and proper fitness, well done! Plus a bluebird sky summer day certainly helps!
Hello everyone
I congratulate you on your great mountain tour. Thank you for the wonderful film. It brings back many unforgettable memories.
I wish you wonderful mountain tours.
With alpine greetings
Raphael Wellig
When you said you were going to leave at 1 am from Paradise I thought, "man, they're going to have to haul some serious ass to get up to summit at a safe time". Then when you guys got to DC at sunrise I was like, " holy ****, they flew up to there". Great job guys! Love the content!
Really digging the new tunes, and constant inspiration!
Awesome job guys. Never ever underestimate the power of a bowl of Wheaties.
You guys made the climb look so easy. I feel tempted now. Nice work guys!
Long time fan of this awesome channel. Every video deserves the number of views this one has.
I love the use of Ave Maria for your departure
You guys are maniacs I love it !!
I've lived in Washington most my life, my goal is to climb Mt Rainier someday. Great video, good to see you guys knock it out of the park no issues.
I grew up near Bellingham and I've climbed some of the smaller peaks near Baker, but I've always wanted to climb Ranier. It's just such a beautiful mountain
@@edboy484 Agree, I love that I grew up here and from most locations in WA you can get a decent view of this mountain.
Loved the hike there, went to the look out tower and even got to see a jet fly through hella low!!! Best day ever plus a fantastic place to get stoned lol
Looks like the shake weights worked! Solid climb guys.
My wife and I go to Mount Rainier every year we try to go in the winter time we usually stay at the Packwood Lodge we live in South Florida so it's a treat to see so much snow
Well, I guess you guys are still active on this channel. For some reason I assumed the channel wasn't. I'm a moron. Awesome stuff. Love your videos. Just had surgery a few weeks back and I have been watching your videos over and over again. It aggravates the crap out of my wife so thank you for that:) I started walking again today and am looking forward to pushing myself to get back into shape. Just wanted to say thank you for the inspiration and that you guys are far from amateurs. 👍👍👍👍👍
Danny and I are no amateurs at aggravating our wives as well. Get well soon!
I didn't skip ahead, you both are doing something right here.
17 miles, 9000 ft, 9.5 hours.
holy shit! you guys must have been flying
yeah, that is boogie-ing
About 1.79mph
@@ROCCOCYCLES which seems very slow but going up that high of an attitude at that speed ain't easy
Great memories, brought me back to the time I climbed it when was stationed at Ft. Lewis in Sea-Tac’
You guys are amazing!! You make this look like such an easy trail! Can't imagine doing 9000 feet!!
I'm pretty certain the people who thumbs down this stuff have never done a hard thing in their lives. Nice work fellas and thanks for sharing
"If your pants come off you know you are having a good day!" ... awesome quote
Danny always inspires me with words to live by
Works at night too.
I am really enjoying the videos from these lads. Edge of the murderwall is especially good.
Great video! Yesterday 2 of my friends and I climbed broken top in Oregon. It was nowhere as difficult as this, but it was fun and there weren’t any crowds.
Just watching this again nearly a year later and its still class. Hope its not long till youre back out again. Stay safe
In the beginning of the video I'm thinking y'all are crazy leaving paradise the same time some teams leave Muir... but holy pace guys! Insanity. Climb on.
Totally Awesome! I've been to Camp Muir, but not beyond. It's on my bucket list.
Dude this is so cool! Im so glad this came onto my recommended.
What a fantastic journey to take us on. That was beautiful-the scenery and the effort. I'm taking some screenshots for desktop backgrounds. That exposed pinnacle of rock at about 6:15 with the layered and foggy landscape behind is a phenomenal scene. Love it. Keep up the good work.
Chris Clouzet guessing this was during the summer, super clear day so I am assuming that’s likely smoke from wildfires. Just saw this flying from Seattle to Denver but worse now.
That was amazing! Thanks for letting us see what it was like at the top. It's always been a dream but not within my limits hah.
I can see that mountain from my bedroom window! It's so beautiful up there! Never reached the summit but take my kids up to play in the snow a lot.
My favorite was the "poo check" before leaving 😆, we can all relate to that
I’m about to do a climb with RMI in September. Y’all did in one day what we’re gonna do in 3 which is both nuts, and also encouraging. Makes me feel like with 3 days of time to get up and down, we’ve got no excuses not to make it to the summit and back in one piece.
This is so sick! Thanks for sharing! Targeting Rainier in a few years !!
Amazing. And not a cloud in the sky. Don't see that every day there. Good trip!
Great video and climb. Been looking at this mountain for 15 years and hoping to climb it one day 🤙
You guys re fast and strong and dont take it to serious. I like it better though when things go wrong in your videos. it reminds me of many crazy adventours of mine. cheers from switzerland
Wow, I think you guys made it look easy! Great job.
Hahah this is an awesome vid guys, well done, so good to see such a great film about a mountain that I've always wanted to climb
Holy shhhh.....you guys crushed it! Good work, fellas. What an incredible place.
Hi from Chamonix, France 👋! Really enjoy your channel - keep 'em coming 😁.
Just seeing this video...unreal...you guys are like olympians... I thought Rainer was like a definite two dayer...unreal..thanks for the high quality video...
Not only a great climb, but your video documentation was killer as well! smooth AF! Damn boys! I would love to know cameras used and Your fitness, diet prep. This is how I''d hope to roll. I will search in case you've already given details. Thanks!
Your production is amazing and how chill the vibe is is really admirable. Not hardos, just chill dudes who do cool shit
I was just at Camp Muir last week. Sorry to have missed you guys.. Awesome ascent though!
Day off from forest adventure times after 15 miles + 5000 feet of vert yesterday doing a loop around mt loch (Victoria's 4th highest mountain). Great to kick back and watch you guys get after it. Love everything about the video. Great banter. Fantastic you show the whole expedition from hotel to summit and everything in between. makes me feel like I'm there with you
Sweet video as usual.
Just started a quest right now for all 50 highpoints in the United States. I'm in my senior year of highschool and doing number 3 , Oklahoma, next week. I can't wait to get to this one.
'is there a poo in me' I can not relate any more haha
Awesome! Thanks for posting. Hope I can summit this mountain someday as well.
I’m not even sure how that’s possible 🤣 So bad ass. BEASTS!!!
Just moved from Texas to Washington on October 1st 2022. Been to the bottom of Mt Rainier and almost to the top as far as Cougar Creek. I can't wait to reach this summit.
