It took an extended fast of 98 hours to really feel the effects of autophagy.
I have been suffering from age related macular degeneration for about 10 years.
A few days after the 98 hours fast I noticed a significant improvement in my eyesight...from struggling to read text at arms length to be able to read the same text at almost elbows distance..so about 30% improvement in just a few days.
Shorter, daily intermittent fasting for nearly a year did not achieve the same results as the single long fast did.
I hope to do at least one 48 hours fast every couple of weeks, and a 4-5 day fast once a month.
Bone broth contains protein and will stop autophagy.

I am comfortable with OMAD and daily good exercise during fasted stage for long walk and hiking.
Seem working well for me as I can see huge improvement in my vision, hair and skin. My arthritis now is more manageable. Have been on intermittent fasting for a year but exercise and sports practice since 5 years old. Am going to 70 and still very active.

Not being able to go long inbetween meals is a sign that you are not fat adapted. Your body is so used to getting glucose (carbs) every few hours and does not know how to switch to burning fat efficiently. Work on increasing your fasting time slowly and it will get easier 🙂 12 hours, 14 hours, 16 hours, etc.

It will inhibit it, yes. Bulletproof coffee is great if your goal is keeping your insulin low. But let's say you are fasting 14 hours every day, then having bulletproof coffee, then eating a keto diet - you will be doing a lot to maximize autophagy so it's not worth cutting the BPC out for the sake of a bit more autophagy.

Another informative video, and precisely explained. It does slightly depress me though. I am an obese man just over 60, and a type 2 diabetic. The Keto diet has kept my blood sugar in check, my most recent A1C was 6.7. I haven't had to take any daytime insulin for months now, but I take 60 units of a nighttime insulin before bed every night. Weight loss has been a struggle despite intermittent fasting and keto. My doctor is not a keto friendly doc, so she won't include insulin levels in my blood work. I was hoping the fasting would spur autophagy, but your video has informed me otherwise. Nevertheless, you have given me something to discuss with my doctor, so thank you.

Insulin is for gaining. You can get your own fasting insulin test, no doc needed. Ownyourlabs is great resource and the test is very cheap; I believe it's $12.60. Many docs in the know say levels are to be under 6 for optimal health. Mine is 3.5 and I'm 62 years old; it's very doable but in my opinion most doctors get in the way of true healing. Best of luck!

I like to delay my first real meal until mid-day, but I do drink 2 cups of coffee with heavy cream (one of them with about 1 tbsp of MCT oil). I like to hope this maintains some benefits of fasting, but it probably doesn’t :-) [I *did* watch your Bulletproof Coffee video]
Off topic: I am an older guy (52), and even with low-carb/keto diet, my weight has been creeping back up. I was 190 lbs before the diet change. Dropped to 170 lbs for about a year. Then I slowly ballooned back to 182 lbs. I can’t put my finger on a diet change, and I exercise more now (primarily resistance and HIIT) than when I first started keto. Some people can do it more often, depending on your weight. But for autophagy benefits it really only needs to be done every few months 👍

Health Coach Kait I ordered the glasses because I live on utube & keep waking up all nite. But they pulled a fast one on my total so I’m trying to get that fixed.
