My friend had one of those and I had a '79 KX80. Rode at Zoar Valley. Thanks for the memories. Beautiful bikes - 2 stroke, air cooled, drum brakes is where it all started for me.
This 1980 RM80 is a beautiful time capsule. I wanted the 1978 RM80. Dad took me down to D&H Suzuki and decided to get me a brand new 1979 RM125. I started racing it the same year. But I still had a love for those 77,78,79 and 80 RM80’s. Back then it was all yellow in the Mini Class at the track , with a sea of YZ and RM 80’s 😎
Nothing like being a kid on a 80.....or even a grown man- a reminder of the unbeatable attitude and power to weight ratio of two strokes. These are Gems Ken. Rad!
Kaplan cycles you must be one of if not the best restorer,s of motorcycles in the world ALL your bikes are better than when they were 1st manufactured GOD BLESS YOU MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR 😊
Remember when bultaco had the self chain oiler built-in to the sprocket side swing arm/left side,' I had it on my alpina 250,'never had an issue with the transmission
I m 53 now and when I was a young boy I would walk to my local Suzuki shop from my grandmas house and just gaze at those for hours. I wanted one so bad. Great memories
Got my first bike in 1977 (RM 50) when I was 5 years old. Looked just like the 78 with no graphics. A few years later, my dad’s business was a casualty of the 1979 recession, parents got divorced, we lost everything. Just bought my first dirt bike since in a 2022 Honda XR650L. Brings back memories.
In 1980 I bought a brand new YZ80G here in Australia, it beat all the RM's, KX's and CR80's of that year both in power and handling. Although a mate bought a new 1980 KX80 and it was gorgeous. Just don't see any of them anymore. No idea where they all went?! Also my 1982 YZ100J that I raced, they too have disappeared off the planet. If I could find one or both of those bikes I would be all over them. Brings back many many awesome memories.
Awesome bikes from a great time, but they are too pretty to ride. I hope the buyer keeps them as a collection piece. Blasting pristine vintage bikes on asphalt is not a necessary selling tactic! 😜

I really love your Museum and Videos.
There is nothing at all like it on this side of the pond, going to try and visit in 2025. Keep up the good work.

My friend who was about 15 bought a 1980 CR80 and he was small and he could really kick butt on that for years.
The most beastly 80s ive seen.

My friend had one in 1980 I used to love to ride that thing I just couldn't keep the front wheel down on her though really nice-looking bike
Great stuff. I’m currently doing a full rebuild on a 1979 rm80 engine to fit on my 1981 Suzuki EPO (PV50). Cannot wait till it’s finished!
RM racing machine that is straight music to my ears Kaplan cycles has the number one. Best, dirt bikes on the East Coast 💪🤘
Thanks for the support! Glad you enjoyed it!
STUNNING👌🏻
Thank you! Cheers!
I've got a 78 and a 1980. The 79 is the best one out of all 3 its the fastest one too
I always wanted a KX80, YZ80 or the RM80 (which was the rarest). Great little monsters.

Rarely seen....Ghost Bikes ❤😮
So nice! 😢
You will probably never see 3 RM80s like this again.
I want that 79 really bad!!!
Beautiful. To bad you guys don't return phone calls.
Try calling my cell 860 916 9784 9 to 5 m to f please, text me first
This hurts. My first two stroke as a kid...'81 RM 80 that was ported and polished. Ran like a 125! Scary fast! Trade you my old silverado for one?
I remember my first RM! They were great bikes.
One of my buddy's had an '82 RM 80
Beautiful bikes. I own a 1978 Ds185 that is one bike I have never seen another. I’m very curious of how many are out there.
RM 80 mi escuela😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
👍💪🏻🙏🇺🇸🇫🇷
What about the tank cover you could put on it that looked exactly like the tank. I loved mine when I got it in 81. Awsome to see!
🔥
$ 15K ??? Whoa ...that's s MAJOR CRAZY RETAIL PRICE😂😂😂😂😂
Noooo WE SOLD IT FOR $6950. IT WOULD COST 15K TO REPLACE
A+ those bikes are in excellent condition. They look as good maybe evn better than brand new.
Like I said before, the 79 RM80 was faster than the 80 RM80 in straight line. The 1980 was a better handling bike.
What a shame to sell those, they belong in a museum
Drooooooooooooolllllll ❤❤❤❤❤
I had one & It ripped...payed $40 for it because a bad throotle cable...
Do you know what rear shocks are on the 1980 rm80?...stunning collection
Many thanks Baz
🐝🏁 Sweet 👍
😵💫😲😭😀
I bought one for my daughter
I had that same 1980 RM 80. I had a lot of DG add ons , I kick myself for selling it years ago!
I failed 6th grade from day dreaming about one all that year
Dime piece that 1980 RM80.
