I was a surprised Jace knew about Alec's feelings. Just goes to show me, at least, that Jace isn't as oblivious to things other than Clary. And was really surprised Alec said no to them working together. Another amazing scene from this episode.
+Rinhail1 well in the books (I think it was in City of Glass, I may be wrong on this) Jace says to Alec that he knew about his feelings but that he didn't think he was truly in love, that Alec only felt admiration for him and he confused that with love, Alec almost had a heart attack at hearing that Jace knew all the time XD he just didn't say since when he knew

I feel like the books were really different than the series. However, I'm glad they've kept certain elements. The character's personalities are pretty much on point and the casting is fantastic.
I think granted that Alec's whole world was turned upside down, finding out his parents were part of the circle, having Jace, his parabatai neglect him for some random chick and having the weight of his family's reputation on his back, his actions were justified here. Like Alec said, Jace has always been a rule breaker, so he's less likely to bat an eye over breaking the law. But Alec, the eldest and someone who had rules drilled into him since he was a child, is not just going to easily be able to do that. I can relate to Alec on this because of my own upbringing. It takes an internal change, not others telling you to change for you to grow as a person. As we saw later, Alec gradually began to change but it wasn't immediately after dating Magnus, although it might have seemed he was on the rule breaking train because of their relationship. No, it took his own internal self-growth and life experiences. That's what makes Alec such a great character and why he has one of the best character development arcs (along with Maryse). So yeah, I get why people were frustrated with Alec, heck I had those moments too, but I don't think he was being a jerk here. He was just lost with the new discoveries and situations coming at him.
Also Jace and Clary didn’t understand that Alec and Izzy were the ones getting into trouble for Jace and Clary’s decisions and actions. They weren’t the ones getting reprimanded and getting forced into marriage. They didn’t take that into consideration and instead made things worse. Alec’s family drives him, he loves his family so much that he’ll do anything for them. His family was being reprimanded so he did what was best. Following orders and trying to get back on the claves good side.
I saw someone say on tiktok this also had a bit to do with his feelings for Magnus He thought he was in love with Jace, but not here's this warlock who, instead of flirting and paying attention to Jace, like Alec is used too, Magnus gives him all the attention, and he flirts too Like Alwc said, he's conflicted and confused

That is true. God was thinking that I am only one who do not like her. All my friends like her I am the only person in our group who thinking that all she thinks is herself. "I want my mom back. I want Simon back so I trun him into vampire. I want Luke back. I want Jace back. I want normall brother." Sometimes I just scream "Oh my got shut up."
The way I see this is Jace acting like a lovedrunked fool, leaving his parabatai behind to follow clary when she isn't ready to give up simon. When i saw them fighting and jace yelling at alec for getting married on tumblr I was so hoping that it was because he feared alec would ruin his life for the family's reputation. It bugs me so much that he made it about him instead of thinking of his friend, or what consequences this would have for his family. Of course it's wrong what they are doing to meliorn but he starts to act like a reckless naive child just like clary, thinking this wouldn't have any consequences. Like are why? You are an experienced shadowhunter, why won't you think of a smarter way to do this without damaging the family that gave it all to you.
I have just started watching the show, ans must of the fights that they had is because clary does something, alec cant stop her and then jace get angry at him because of it. Alec is the oldest there, and if he didnt think about the family who would? honestly nothing of this would had happen if clary wouldnt be that compulssive at the begginning, and jace, being the best shadowhunter that everyone talks about, would know that most of his desicions where made without seeing who could he hurt, other one than Clary
1:49 Wow! The moment Alec realizes what he almost did and just shuts down. That change in his eyes when you can see he looks hopeless. If I’m not mistaken, this escape is what Izzy ends up getting charged with treason for. Somehow neither Clary nor Jace get in trouble for it, but Izzy who really had nothing to do with this got charged. I can see why Alec wouldn’t want anything to do with Clary and Jace after that.
+Katy Kats Jace never said it was all about him. In the first couple of episodes, yes Jace was a douchebag. +Ms Claire Randall Fraser "We both know what this is about....it's about me. It's about your feelings..." is what the comment was probably referring to. Jace did make it about himself and it's not. It actually has very little to do with his feelings for Jace. It's about saving his family.
+Liz Headley yeah true. I forgot Jace said that line. But keep in mind Jace doesn't know about the whole "save the lightwood name" so I do believe that Jace didn't intentionally make it about him. Jace was jumping to conclusions, grasping at straws because he's never seen Alec act this way before. In a way though Jace is also saving his family. Alec is looking at the short-term solution which is restore the Lightwood name to it's former glory and to right the wrongs made by his parents. In comparison, Jace is looking at the big-picture, he realises that if the Seelies/downworlders turn against the Shadowhunters that could prove detrimental to the Shadowhunters in the war against Valentine. Also, keep in mind, the Seelie scouts that were spying on Valentine were there on direct orders from the Clave, and now one of their own (Seelies) were killed. So of course the Seelie Court are not gonna react well when they find out that a Seelie is sent to his possible death.
+Ms Claire Randall Fraser or they all get executed before they can even react. Izzy is already arrested. If he wants to change something, try something that is not so obvious. I understand that clary acts this impulsive since she is not trained to comply with the laws, but jace knows the consequences.
omg the face of Jace when Alec say "no" it was so painful !!!! I loved this episode I want to see the next now ! I hope Alec (my babe) will understand that he is in the wrong way and that he will recover !
Alec is type of person who is super patience over some ridiculous things happened yet when lost all his cool he type of person no one should messed with. Like, I will not even tried to get into his real bad side. I mean look at that. He might be tolerate cause Jace is his brother but what if Jace just no one? But somehow I love this side of him. 😏
This to me was more proof of how Clary’s influence was negative. Her meddling caused a rift between Jace and Alec. I don’t know why people still think of Clary as a good person. She was just like her mother, manipulating people to get her way and then trying to fix it when it all inevitably went wrong.
I really wish they would truly address Alec's feelings for Jace, I feel like its only been address with one-liners in 3 episodes. I really want an emotional and honest scene between the two of them.
Just noticed, in the show Jace utilizes the Parabatei bond to ultimately manipulate and bribe Alec. And it annoys me that the majority of the times he does it, it's because of Clary.
Finally, someone put Jace in his place. He’s been a jerk to Simon, he’s been a jerk to Alec. Watching Alec put that blade to Jace’s throat was very satisfying
Everyone's so quick to defend Alec. Clearly, Jace is in the right here. Alec seemed so caught up in restoring the family name that he couldn't see the bigger picture. F*ck the Clave xD
The bigger picture? The bigger picture is that the Clave has a lot of power, not just over the shadowhunters. The bigger picture is that if you go against them, they have no trouble taking everything from you. The bigger picture is that if you want to go aga8nst them, you have to be really smart about it. Alec was seeing the bigger picture alright. Jace's the one that followed Clary everywhere forgetting what he was and putting his family in trouble. Alec was ready to pay with his own life to keep his siblings safe and to pay for their own mistakes.
In the books, I'd agree. But in the show, I was watching and wondering why we were supposed to side with Clary and co instead of Alec. Alec isn't working against them, but he knows it's important to work with your allies and your bosses, not against them. Some random girl shows up, who constantly gets them into trouble, uses half assed plans, never listens to them, doesn't respect their traditions, and gets everyone involved in her plans, risking all their lives for her personal reasons, and Alec is in the wrong? Like, because she's an alright person everyone is supposed to drop what they're doing and help her, and she knows better than all of them when she's just discovered shadowhunting? If I was Alec I'd feel pretty betrayed by Jace. Jace has asked them to risk their position and lives for some random girl he's met, and consistently sides with her over his parabatai/brother? That's not loyal at all.
Great now alec doesn't have Magnus because of the whole getting married thing. Then he just lost Jace. His life's pretty screwed up right now. I feel bad for my bby. And Magnus. Can't wait for the epi " Malec" yasssss
Incredible scene that broke my heart! I'd love for these two to be a couple but it'll probably never happen. And no, I haven't read the books but I'm still entitled to dream, aren't I?
@@iamlinda100 Jace has undiluted angel blood running through his body, obviously he is going to be physically stronger... That Alec can matches him even with the bond active (and Jace is landing punches here too, because he is as emotional as Alec is) says a lot about Alec and his own restrains and skills. These two are something else altogether, there most be a reason why they worked so well as Parabatai and I think is the fact that they matches each other's step by step, even while fighting 😊
@milagrotorres5960 Exactly! Thank you Of course, Jace is physically stronger, but Alec holds his own against him, so whether or not Jace let him win or not (which is sounding like they're calling him a bad fighter) doesn't matter Alwc could keep up with him, which was impressive in itself
I hate jace and clary in season one they were so annoying. Alec, Simon, Magnus, and Izzy definitely saved season 1. My baby Alec was badass in this scene.
...... just to feel better the people: On the book Alec said he wasn't on Jace's side :v but he was ALWAYS there but he just said it so he could help Jace later
Normally I would %100 support Alec, especially in the early season when Jace was a arrogant fuck boy, but what he was going to do to Meliorn was just wrong. I get how he was put in the position and how normally Jace and Clary are stupid and he has to clean up everything, but he was blindly following orders to torture someone, he had to know that was wrong. I glad in later seasons he stood against the Claves cruelty against the downworlders, when they wanted to chip them, while Jace forgot, the very thing he lectured Alec about.
I love alex and jace's bond but at some point alec had to make a decision best for him. It had to be torture for him over the years watching jace romance ladies and never portray those feeling for him. He had jace in one major aspect of his life but couldn't in the other. Then clary comes along and jace is instantly smitten, and he would feel hurt, even broken.
they hearts will always beat as one, but is normal because jace and alec are trying to do the right thing, but that doesn’t mean they don’t care for each other. If their hearts wouldn’t beat as one they wouldn’t fight because they are ment to fight through all of this togather and they still love their parabatai and they are fighting from the feelings they feel not agreeing with things
God, i hated Jace in season 1 I dont care if Jace let him or not, im glad Alec beat him and finally stood up to him The minute Clary showed up, Jace was up her ass and doing everything she wanted I wholeheartedly believe the only two people to ever truly love and accept Alec are Magnus and Izzy
I know it is 2020 but it’s still fun watching this and don’t say that I’m crazy but I wanted to see a little bit of Jalec because I guess their chemistry is hell 🔥
Since everyone has read the book, they know that "Alec's romantic love for Jace and that he was having feelings for Jace" wasn't that, he was just confused about it, thinking that he loved Jace, but that wasn't it, he was just confused about his sexuality.
This gets about three times more painful when you realise that parabatai can feel each other's pain...

"I don't want to be alive if we're on different sides, Alec" holy jesus, that got me.
This makes me REALLY not like Clary and her annoying squeaky voice
same
Dead at squeaky voice
Claren Dai I saw all seasons and I still hate her :D
@@darksiser1932 ikr she was so annoying in literally every episode.
Get off your high horse Jace. Sometimes people actually make decisions that have nothing to do with you.
You are an experienced shadowhunter, why won't you think of a smarter way to do this without damaging the family that gave it all to you.
thank you for saying this! I always felt like Jace treated Alec kinda badly in the beginning and used him.
Nicole Gonzalez MY POINT! THANK YOU
Dile eso al Jace de los libros, que era el perro faldero de Clary. :v
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!I've been saying this since episode 1!!!!!!!
I was soo shocked that Alec overpowered Jace. I was like daaaamn
#lovethisshow💓
He only overpowered him because Jace let him beat him.
If Jace didn't hold back, then Jace would have overpowered Alec.
@@keilanbrown137Of course he did 😂😂
Do their hearts still beat as one if they're in battle against each other? 😏
+Ayre 😏
Who hurt you???
this is the most intense fight scene i've seen in this show so far. parabatai going against eachother and one won't admit his feelings for the other.
damn Alec knows how to fight
Jace and Alec knows how to fight. They trained!
@@keilanbrown137Obviously 😒
I can see why Alec wouldn’t want anything to do with Clary and Jace after that.
you can see the bond really good here. when jace walks away, alec can feel he is hurt. it hurt his feelings. :-( and the bond respinds to it.
JACE IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT YOU! :/
+Katy Kats Jace never said it was all about him. In the first couple of episodes, yes Jace was a douchebag. But recently it's Alec who has blinded by his own plan that he has forgotten how much his actions are affecting those closest to him. ( also, if you listen carefully Jace says *"i'm really sorry"* at 0:47 before tackling Alec) It's Alec who is being really selfish here, he hadn't tried to help Meliorn who is very important to his sister, and Alec's own vengeance against his parents for being in the circle has blindsided him. It is Jace who is thinking about everyone, including Meliorn because he realises how important Meliorn is to his sister, and he realises that jailing Meliorn could have wider implications on the whole shadow world.
+Ms Claire Randall Fraser I so agree
+Ms Claire Randall Fraser or they all get executed before they can even react. Izzy is already arrested. If he wants to change something, try something that is not so obvious. I understand that clary acts this impulsive since she is not trained to comply with the laws, but jace knows the consequences.
This scene always hits right in the feels..
omg the face of Jace when Alec say "no" it was so painful !!!!
“I don’t want to be alive if we’re on different sides” my heart just sank
Alec you've broken my heart so many times in this episode
I'm sorry but I feel like they could've picked a better person to be clary
I agree somewhat :)
holy shit her acting is shit
@@shaikhaalmeer2364 only season 1 it got a lot better
her acting got so much better after season 1 and especially season 3 clary is amazing
I hate Clary character, no matter who play it, but in the film Lily Collins was much better (in my opinoun)
This broke my heart along with alec and magnes 😣........
their acting is amazing!
“It’s about your feelings it’s because your in-“ GUYS HE KNEW
I'm glad Alec said No, too
I think the only two people who ever really loved Alec was Magnus and Izzy
Can you hear my heart breaking over and over again?
Can we just appreciate how much better the acting got throughout the series
alec was so ready thoo 😂
Their acting in this scene is so good!
Everyone's so quick to defend Alec. Clearly, Jace is in the right here. Alec seemed so caught up in restoring the family name that he couldn't see the bigger picture. F*ck the Clave xD
+joanne deviancy omfg YES YOU GET!!! THAT'S EXACTLY THATS I'VE BEEN SAYING:)
+CAMEL PooP well I'm glad they'be settled their differences now! I hated seeing them fight #Jalec
+joanne devaney they've
The look Alec gives Jace at 00:43 😂😂
This scene hurt my heart. GOD CLARY STOP SCREWING EVERYTHING UP
Great now alec doesn't have Magnus because of the whole getting married thing. Then he just lost Jace. His life's pretty screwed up right now. I feel bad for my bby. And Magnus. Can't wait for the epi " Malec" yasssss
Jace already lost Alec when he put his entire family and the entire shadow world in danger helping Clary
Jace treated Alec like shit because of Clary
It's no wonder, he lashed out
Enough was enough
Incredible scene that broke my heart! I'd love for these two to be a couple but it'll probably never happen. And no, I haven't read the books but I'm still entitled to dream, aren't I?
i so agree with u
1:53 there's an actual rune for instant hairstyling or do I need to ask Jace what's his hair products?!?!😂😂😂😂
Alec is fooooooine 😍
Amazing acting! 😊
When Alec said no, it just showed how much he had grown
Christ. Alec is significantly stronger when he’s angry
Jace did not want to hurt Alec, so he was holding back, he let Alec beat him in this fight
@milagrotorres5960 Exactly! Thank you
Of course, Jace is physically stronger, but Alec holds his own against him, so whether or not Jace let him win or not (which is sounding like they're calling him a bad fighter) doesn't matter
Alwc could keep up with him, which was impressive in itself
MY JALEC HEART ❤️
i love you alec 😍😍
I was actually crying tho and I kept screaming for them to stop I can't
Watch today's episode.
+Cinder Ella I watch it live ever Tuesday
I hate jace and clary in season one they were so annoying. Alec, Simon, Magnus, and Izzy definitely saved season 1. My baby Alec was badass in this scene.
aww thats sad so are they still best friend as u call it a parabatai
...... just to feel better the people: On the book Alec said he wasn't on Jace's side :v but he was ALWAYS there but he just said it so he could help Jace later
it looks like Alec wasn't even trying. or was Jace not trying. it looks like Jace got his ass handed to him. love them both though
#saveshadowhunters we need more shadow hunters
Personally I don't see the attraction in Jace but everyone has their opinion. I mean, Alec is hot af...
Alec Whip That Ass Lightwood. YAAAAAAASSS
one of the best scenes in the series
Normally I would %100 support Alec, especially in the early season when Jace was a arrogant fuck boy, but what he was going to do to Meliorn was just wrong. I get how he was put in the position and how normally Jace and Clary are stupid and he has to clean up everything, but he was blindly following orders to torture someone, he had to know that was wrong. I glad in later seasons he stood against the Claves cruelty against the downworlders, when they wanted to chip them, while Jace forgot, the very thing he lectured Alec about.
Amazing acting
His mood swings lmao
I Loved This Scene 💜 My Favorite Characters Are Alec , Simon , & ' Isabella . 💜🙌
Anyone else just loves how have says " we both know what this is about" .....😂😩❤
I love alex and jace's bond but at some point alec had to make a decision best for him.
If their hearts wouldn’t beat as one they wouldn’t fight because they are ment to fight through all of this togather and they still love their parabatai and they are fighting from the feelings they feel not agreeing with things
jace his face at the end broke my heart😭
God, i hated Jace in season 1
I dont care if Jace let him or not, im glad Alec beat him and finally stood up to him
The minute Clary showed up, Jace was up her ass and doing everything she wanted
I wholeheartedly believe the only two people to ever truly love and accept Alec are Magnus and Izzy
In conclusion: Alec is a better fighter than Jace when he’s mad.
Why do they move like they're in fast forward when they fight?? It would've looked more natural without it..
They are literally angel warrior people.
Lauren Lind I know, but it looks really weird
I think it's the speed rune it makes them faster
because they activated the speed rune
I so love the fight of Alec and Jace
I freaking love Alec 😍
Jalec anyone?
Nooooo don't ship brothers
Clary and Jace are way better together they are a cute couple
agreed
Being siblings and all.
+Scott Beaton they r not really siblings... ul find out soon if u dont already know that
Uh no
Whenever the fight it breaks my heart
Jace protegiendo a Clary de Alec, que considerado ángel caído del cielo.
This scene broke me
ow shit
At first I couldn’t stand jace he seemed like a totally arrogant pompous but daaamn Hasn’t he proved me wrong
I know it is 2020 but it’s still fun watching this and don’t say that I’m crazy but I wanted to see a little bit of Jalec because I guess their chemistry is hell 🔥
I love how jace doesn’t care that Alec loves him he’s like whatever
I will forever ship jalec more than malec oops
same lmao
i'm currently half and half but if I watch more clips like this then I'm afraid I'll be swayed xD
Me gusta su relación más acá.
Danielle : you ship Oncest great..congrats...sick:
don't. ship. brothers. what the fuck
Since everyone has read the book, they know that "Alec's romantic love for Jace and that he was having feelings for Jace" wasn't that, he was just confused about it, thinking that he loved Jace, but that wasn't it, he was just confused about his sexuality.
