Read Game of Shadows: Barry Bonds, BALCO, and the Steroids Scandal that Rocked Professional Sports. Bonds had a beautiful swing, but he cheated. He hit 73 homeruns in a season. He had never hit 50 homeruns in a season.

      @@johndeagle4389 Bonds "didn't realize his muscles were getting bigger". Of course, he did. Your muscles get bigger when you lift weights. When you use steroids your muscles get bigger, too, just much faster. Steroid use makes your muscles grow stronger st a faster rate than your ligaments and tendons, and so the most obvious evidence of a steroid user is they suffer a ton of ligament and tendon ruptures when they run. The fact Bonds suffered no ligament or tendon injuries is VERY STRONG EVIDENCE did not use steroids. The fact he was also tried in front of an all white jury and acquitted is also damn strong evidence.

      and he's definitely gotten more enthusiastic in the booth over the last decade. But basically every announcer has.
      people look at him calling the helmet catch in the super bowl and say that it was a boring call but people forget that announcers really didn't start getting a lot more animated in the booth until 2010 or later. They didn't want to be seen as showing favoritism. Gus johnson trail blazed that to a degree with being one of the first notable announcers to get super animated.

    Joe Buck is a mediocre announcer who should not be anywhere around baseball. Barry Bonds is still the most dominant hitter of all time! Name one guy who is even close to Bonds in any category. Also for a reporter it should have been well known that Barry hated the likes of him because of all the criticisms his father received in the press.

      Sure, but, the reality is that pro athletes who reach Bonds' stature have people in the form of leeches, hangers-on, fanboys, autograph hounds, etc, coming at them ALL THE TIME. So what that he didn't make time for Joe F. Buck and likely just wanted to be left alone. Is that not the desire of "a normal human being"? He should be required to make himself available to everyone just because they approach him?

    Henry Aaron IS the Home Run King !!! Period !!! Mr. Aaron was, and is, a gentleman and a great representative of baseball. Bonds on the other hand was a cheater, and a classless, arrogant , and truculent piece of shit. If he, or McGwire, Sosa, and any of the other guys who cheated get into the Hall of Fame I am done with baseball. Baseball more than any other sport in America is tied to stats. And it would be completely unfair to the players in the Hall who played the game the right way for drug users to share that stage. If I was the son of Willie Mays or Hank, or Mickey, or Sandy I would be very much in front with the Lord's of Baseball demanding they not be allowed in.

    Very easy way to solve the "Should a PED user be in the Hall of Fame" debate. Have the eligible candidates take a polygraph exam. You fail, you don't get inducted. Simple as that.

    • @ngc-fo5te
      @ngc-fo5te 3 роки тому

      I see you don't realise polygraphs are not exactly reliable - hence in almost every country, if not all, they are inadmissible in a trial.

    • @dape8993
      @dape8993 3 роки тому

      @@ngc-fo5te The word is "realize". Admission to the Baseball Hall of Fame is not a courtroom trial. Therefore, the HOF, being an independent organization (not a court of law or public entity) can administer polygraphs to determine eligibility. Private companies use them in this fashion all the time. Also--admit it. You know Bonds and Clemens would fail such a test completely!

    What a COINCIDENCE - I TURN OFF JOE BUCK EVERY TIME HE IS ON TV.
    His dad, Jack Buck was a legend and he was great. I loved Jack Buck. But I have always found Joe Buck to be really annoying. And the only reason he got the broadcasting jobs to begin with was that he was Jack Bucks son. Joe has gotten a little better over the years. And I hope he continues to get better. But for the most part those old time announcers were so much better than most of todays announcers. But There are a few good modern announcers however.
