Right or wrong, I think the reason the steroid era players have such a hard time getting into the hall is that they collectively tainted what was the most important legacy of baseball: the records. Before Maguire, Bonds, Sosa, etc those all time records were venerated by the baseball community. By achieving their “tainted” records these players forever broke what had been one of the cornerstones of baseball fandom. I think the Hall of Fame voters have a hard time getting over that, whether they are right or wrong to do so I can’t really say.
Regardless of breaking a record of any stat. or not breaking a statistic, a cheater is still a cheater, if the sports writers let one in, then the Hall of Fame becomes the Hall of Shame. Just as bad as those trying to get into colleges by cheating, either on their entrance scores or buying their way in. It just doesn’t mean anything any longer by those achieving something on their own.
Bonds was a Hall of Famer without the juice. Only problem is noone knows what his numbers would be like without the juice, probably significantly lower. And noone knows precisely when it was he started juicing.
@@dustymcguire7411 Rose is the biggest no. You can't get banned from baseball unless you test positive three times in a year. That's only happened to one dude and it wasn't Bonds. @@thejoshpresle Betting on baseball is nowhere near taking steroids. And he wasn't betting on the games he was playing/ managing in. And he SHOULD absolutely be reinstated. He is the all-time hit leader, and he got every hit without taking a single steroid, so what makes e gambled as a manager, that's not worth not being allowed back inside a stadium. Bonds can come in, McGwire can come in, A-Rod can come in, but Rose can't? That's BS. And I don't care what you think!
Taking steroids is actual cheating. As someone who competed against likely steroid users, I can say that it is not fair, and it is not funny, to try to compete against people who are cheating by using steroids. Cheaters should not be rewarded.
Here's my take on this for whatever it's worth. Was bonds juiced? Yes. Do I like the fact that Bonds was juiced? No. However, although what he took would improve his strength and recovery from workouts it would not magically give him great hand eye coordination and the timing to make proper clean contact when swinging on a pitch. Obviously the strength helps to potentially be able to knock on out even if you don't make optimal clean contact but to hit the number of HR that bonds hit a huge component of that is the ability to read and react to pitches and have the coordination and timing to make clean contact. Based on this Bonds should be in the hall of fame. If you want to make an example out of him to discourage people in the future from using illegal PED's I get it but to claim Bond's HR number are only due to steroids is a fallacy.
pete rose and barry bonds should be in immediately. you cannot tell the story of the sport's history without these two coming up multiple times and not just for allegations. these guys were amazing. bonds was a hall of famer before he even juiced.

Why does Barry Bonds get such a bad wrap? Piazza, Bagwell, Pudge Rodriguez were all clearly taking roids and you know Ortiz will make the HOF when he legitimately got busted. Bonds is in the same situation as all those other guys except he’s way better than them
Again why was Pudge always linked to PEDs. Because he was this big looking catcher? Aren't a couple of catchers big anyway?

Absolutely insane that Bonds isn’t in the HOF. Most insane stats of all time, doesn’t just happen from being strong. 1.422 OPS in 2004 and a career OPS over 1.000. Literally insane.
I agree that 1.400 plus ops was stupid. Over 500 on base is stupid.
On another note. Imagine how many mvps pujols would have if Barry wasn’t around. He would have had at least 5-6. He was so good and he was overshadowed by Barry. Nobody realized what he was doing until bonds was Gone. He started his career with at least 30 homers, 100 rbi and a 300 avg every season for ten years lmao. He hit 400 home runs his first ten years. Nobody has ever done those things and we barely acknowledge the guy smh.
Not comparing them because Barry had hand eye skill on his own level. But albert was more consistent to start his career than anyone ever. He played in more meaningful games and won championships.

And Pete Rose had HoF numbers too, before he was banned.
The only problem is that they have let guys in the were suspected in so it's only bonds and rocket but others getting in
@@johnheinrich1718 he got banned were the rule to ban for steroids it's only a suspension so u saying cool to use as long as u don't break records

Taking steroids is actual cheating. As someone who competed against likely steroid users, I can say that it is not fair, and it is not funny, to try to compete against people who are cheating by using steroids. Cheaters should not be rewarded.
Skip: "Barry Bond was the greatest hitter in the history of baseball."
Ted Williams: "Oh really Skip?"
Oh really.
He's not in because there isn't a place that is good enough for him
Here's my take on this for whatever it's worth.
8:35 - INCORRECT. Mike Mussina averaged 15 wins per year. He played for 18 seasons and gained 270 wins. 270/18 = 15. He also had 7 post-season wins.
