"The Grass, Trees, and Dew, how I just hate you" is a deeper meaning. He hates seeing the grass, trees, and dew after the hope he had in the "orange" (the sun raising) reveals the grass, trees, and dew, but she hasn't come back yet.
Yes!!! Home by evening because dewey morning she didn't make it back. So the pain starts over. JMO
Right on! It's not her he hates. It's the way the orange touches the freshness of the morning without her.
As much as I love Zach Bryan's voice, and his musicianship, and everything else... He's probably the single greatest lyricist I've heard since Bob Dylan.
His ability to immediately and effortlessly key into basic human emotion, experience and feeling is incredible. He can just so easily express feelings all of us have had, including and, more importantly RESPECTFULLY key in on how we all feel in our lives is just... Incredible
I only in the past month discovered this song and Zach Bryan. I’m also in awe. My new current favorite artist. Check out his live concert from Red Rocks Colorado on November 3, 2022. It’s an incredible journey, emotionally exhausting and cleansing. I bawl every time I listen to this song. Funny coincidence, my orange cat just came and curled up in my lap while watching this reaction. 😢
Exactly. 🥺
I’m a grown ass man. And this song always makes me teary eyed. Prayers for all of us that are going through heart ache.
Me too! Speaks volumes doesn't it. This and Dark
I’m in the same boat brother. Makes me well up with tears every time but I still belt it at the top of my lungs. Always remember, you got this and as long as the sun rises, there’s still hope
@@THE_Csquared thanks fam
Im happily married with two kids and every time I hear this song it takes me back 15 years to a moment of complete heartache after a break up. Wouldn’t have believed it back then but it is the way it was meant to be.
@@ironmatt975 5 years ago for me. After 8 years together. Amazing how a song so perfectly crafted like this can take you right back to that place of heartache and pain. You’ve healed from it, and have moved on, but this song kinda presses on that old scar on your heart, and you feel just a bit of that hurt that you once felt so long ago. It’s haunting, but beautiful in a way.
He has no bad songs honestly… you’re in for a ride
I second Connor on this one, Zach Bryan has done no bad songs. You want to hear a powerful, story-telling one that's bound to bring you to tears? Listen to Billy Stay off of his latest album, American Heartbreak. That song just puts you in the place of love and loss on a level that is hard to capture in a song but man, he does it and does it well.
@@Tuggernauts_I’ll third that. Every single song he has wrote is a masterpiece. A true storyteller with a genuine passion for what he does. My fav track on American Heartbreak is actually the last one, This Road I Know. The poem. It is sooo amazingly good. A couple of my other top songs by him that I truly connect to are Driving, Poems and Closing Time and Quiet, Heavy Dreams. He touches my soul with those in particular
@Cody Cook ill fourth that. Man has a way of bringing his life experiences come to life through the music he makes. Zacha music is beyond anyone else because of how relatable it is for everyday people
only one song i'd skip and that is if she wants a cowboy because of the voice effects towards the end of the song. other than that. none are skippable
@@rk_d3nythe voice effects in that song are satire towards many modern day country artists
zach bryan was the first person to convert me into a country music enjoyer. that man has ZERO skips. absolutely amazing lyricist.
Same
Zach is awesome, try out some Jason Isbell and Tyler Childers. They're great song writers as well as awesome performers
@Justin Groves if we were vampires by Jason isbell gets me every time. I love it.
Cause he makes real country. Not the pop stuff you hear from luke bryan. Next check out whiskey meyers, uncle Lucius, Ryan Bingham, and even Tyler Childers for some young modern but still strictly country artists.
You should listen to Sturgill Simpson
you should check out the live version of heading south it's just zach, his guitar and the crickets and it is phenomenal. his sound is 100% authentic
My favorite
That video is what made me a fan of his.
That video popped up on my suggested years back and been a fan ever since
@@Sawtoothrangelivin this song isn't even a year old😭
@@devinseid9300 I was referring to the live version of heading south as mentioned in the original comment I replied to
Zach Bryan isn’t a one hit wonder type of singer. This man is a natural story teller and here to stay. He should’ve won new artist award. I was mad when he didn’t. He’s so good!
Who won?
Are you insane? He's one of the biggest musicians on the planet.
I totally agree! He is awesome ♥️
I love the way Zach uses the orange as something that helps us see inside his head. As the sun rises, the orange brings hope. As the sun sets, that hope leaves with the orange.
That is a phenomenal analogy that you found
I’ve literally never thought of it that way but now that this was mentioned, this song takes it to a whole different level for me. Thank you for that
i legit never thought of it that way that’s amazing🙌
I agree with you but I also think him poisoning himself is him getting drunk at sunset. When he wakes up and she's not there . He hates morning although it brings hope again. He's in a viscous circle wishing things didn't end.
stoppp this analogy is golden!
“Take me back to us dancing, this wood used to creak.” That’s a line right there!
Listen to the first 30 seconds of the song snow. Hits even deeper
Its the "world used to creep" but I thought the same thing the first 500 times I listen to it lol
@@jason3280no it isn’t
That's the line that kills me every time
Kills me every time!
Found him a week ago. I’m currently 6 days sober and 85% of his music makes me tear up lol
proud of you
G-d bless you big.
Hope your still sober big dog
Congratulations on getting sober! By God's grace we do recover.
Witnessing someone hear Zach for the first time and see your genuine reaction made my day!
i had this same reaction yesterday.. but I was bawling
I've listened to this song hundreds of times and watching this made me see it in a whole different light.
Agreed and it opened my eyes to the meaning of the song
Same here.
Listen to the UA-cam clip of the young lady on Americas Got Talent sing that. Zack commented on her performance and told her that song was now hers.
This video and the different version of the song makes this way more impactful
Dude same
The line "please turn those headlights around / I just hate you" is so freaking powerful to me. That feeling of grief, loving someone so much and wanting them to come back, but hating them so much for being gone. The pain in that line is intense
I experienced this firsthand not too long ago and thought the same thing. I just laughed a little and said damn boy that’s exactly how I feel about her.
Saw it live at Billy bobs when he said "please turn those headlights around" some one screamed "she better turn those fucking headlights around" and the whole building died laughing
Never was a fan of country, was always alternative, metal etc...until I found Zach Bryan, just amazing
This song is probably more Americana/folk than country but it's all good. It still has a rural feel, but could be western. I love the vibe and melancholic beauty it has
He would so appreciate your compliments too. He’s so kind and humble.
Went to his show in April at Two Step Inn and it was the first show I’ve ever been to where 90% of the MASSIVE crowd knew every word to every single song.
Zach was a friend of a friend in the military. Served in the navy before he became country’s next greatest songwriter
I have even more respect for him now knowing that. He’s the real deal
PLEASE tell him, from one vet home to another, thank you for your service! And please tell him this song changed me and my husband. ❤
In the earlier verses he says please turn those tailights around in the later verses he says please turn those headlights around, I take that as his feelings have changed like the day cycle, orange emerges and then orange fades, as do feelings.
Dam i didn’t catch that. Good point
Ooh maybe it’s the difference between the sun coming up and then going down..?
Dude Lucero is absolutely still making music. One of my top 5 favorite bands, along with Zach Bryan. Totally my vibe being a punk kid who grew up in the country.
Lucero and Zach Bryan both played at Wild Hare music fest in Oregon last summer!
I'm seeing Lucero twice in the next month, lol.... Rode with Ben Nichols and Oliver Peck on the Bikeriders Tour through some of NC a few years ago. They haven't taken so much as a break since Attic Tapes haha.
Their next album is in the process of being released right now on iTunes, 3 songs so far.
Love Lucero. Ben Nichols is incredible.
@@l.o.6722 was just coming to say that!!! Estacada girl here so we went because I have friends that work for Lucero.
“The orange” is based on perspective because in the morning it can signify the end of “darkness” but in the evening it’s just the beginning and he shows the emotions of both and his “darkness” being the loneliness he experiences without her. Beautifully written song. I’ve heard it quite a few times on pandora but never took the time to actually listen to the lyrics and the understanding so thank you for this breakdown. You’ve earned yourself a sub for this one.
Isn’t it in response to his exes song “Tennessee Orange” after a bad breakup?
I just listened to this whole album last night and wow! To say I was blown away would be an understatement. I’d only heard this song so I went into the album blind. Every song on the album is just as deep as this one. And I’m with you I am now a fan of him! I’d say this album is gonna be on repeat for a while for me. He sounds like folk Americana country to me.
That's exactly what happened to me! I fell into the Zach Bryan well and I'll be here for awhile.
@@elizabethgurnee4705 yeah I’m about to go down a rabbit hole on all his stuff and j can’t wait!
He does that, and there's so much unreleased stuff of his out there it's crazy.
@@ikerevia5324 oh that’s good to know!!
i wish i could go back to the night the album came out
This new genre of country/folk/red dirt/Americana is amazing!! Cody jinks, whiskey myers, Tyler Childers ""whitehouse road",Uncle Lucia's, Morgan wade, etc, is like Chris stapleton. Theyre not country, but they are. I love it! Cody jinks " Wish You Were Here" Pink Floyd cover, and "Hippies and Cowboys", "cast no stones", must be the whisky" are all great songs!!
Need more Zach reactions!!! Gotta listen to Jamie, Burn burn burn, snow, younger years, from a lovers point of view and loom. ALL HITS!
The Good I’ll Do, Heavy Eyes, Oklahoma Smokeshow, 68 Fastback, Billy Stay, Oklahoma City, Cold Damn Vampires, Tishomingo, Sun to Me, Happy Instead, Corinthians, and Half Grown are all absolute hits just off American Heartbreak alone. Zach is the best working artist out there right now.
Morning sun and burn burn burn were the first ones I heard and I was hoooooked.
Dark is a great song too that he didn't release on an album
I'm a huge fan of All The Time off Summertime Blues.
Great list. Been listening to ZB for a while and this is solid. Jamie is by far my favorite
The first line had me in tears lol... There's something in his voice that SCREAMS "real". Still trying to heal after an 18 year marriage that recently ended, and can relate with his conflicting emotions. His song writing is super creative and literally paints a picture in my mind. First time hearing Zach Bryan and I am also an immediate fan! Thanks for sharing!!
Dear stranger on the internet.. Just wanted to send love. I left a 13 year marriage with my entire future in question. I'm here to tell you, 3 years later, there is ultimate happiness on the other side. You'll make it through it and come out strong. ❤
I had a rocky 20 year marriage but we were also soul mates, love at first sight, kinda love for the first 15 years. He died last January. Something in the orange tells me He's never coming home.
@@jessicaspaw528 But with you in spirit forever my friend 🙏💞
You’re one of the few reactors who actually grabbed the morning orange vs night orange thing and that to me makes this song a masterpiece
Coming from a girl who listened to 92 hours of Zach Bryan in 2022 I can promise you, you hear his heart and soul in EVERY song. And he is just this good live. Go demo something from his Live from Red Rocks concert or album next!!!
I’m so glad you’re all finding Zach… Welcome. Your lives will never be the same. All his music will make you feel this way
I heard this song for the first time about a month ago and now I listen to it at least once a day. I love that I found Zach Bryan.
Thank you for taking the time out of the day to recognize this man. Whatever the genre, music will be here for everyone, forever.
Yessir. It was such a blessing to come across this song.
This is day 2... Listening to this song on repeat. Over and and over . And over. I'm stuck. . lovit
5 years ago, my high school sweetheart broke up with me. After 8 years together. Amazing how a song so perfectly crafted like this can take you right back to that place of grief, heartache, and pain. You’ve healed from it, and have moved on, but this song kinda presses on that old scar on your heart, and you feel just a bit of that hurt that you once felt so long ago. It’s haunting, but beautiful in a way.
I just heard this song for the first time. I’m obsessed
We call it Red Dirt and Americana music. We play a lot of Zach Bryan on KUSH radio here in Cushing Oklahoma.
What a song! ❤️
Fisch nailed it right on the head. Nobody else has done that. Sun goes up, hes hopeful. Sun goes down, theres no hope. Incredible
My top 3:
Tyler Childers
Zach Bryan
Morgan Wallen
This song is pure art. I remember listening to it on repeat the day my music app threw it my way randoml. Helped get through that long pipeline hitch far away from home this past summer.
cmon dude… wallen is a mainstream tool bag… not on the same level as the other 2😂😂
My top three is the same except I replace Morgan wallen with Chris Stapleton
Dude Zach Bryan and Hardy are the 2 best songwriters in country music right now. This is definitely his best written song. It’s absolutely incredible. Songs by Zach I’d recommend you check out next by Zach are From Austin, Jamie, and Oklahoma City. They really show off the best of Zach Bryan
That's a pretty spot on, thorough assessment for a first listen. An artist understands an artist - well done 🙏
God I love Zach Bryan’s music! How can a 27 year-old put emotions into words that so many older, wiser musicians never could? I was determined to hate his music because everybody loved him so much I figured he was basic. I was dead wrong. His music makes me feel things and remember things I haven’t thought about in years and forces me to face things I’ve avoided for years. But in the best way possible.
Seeing Zach live is life changing. This is next level music.
I must follow his touring. I’d love to see him live. He has easily become one of my favorites 🥰
@@ltmltm4945 he is touring for several months starting in April!!
I’ve seen him twice in the last year, about 6 months apart. The difference in how much his crowd has grown and how the entire crowd reacts to his songs was unreal. Top 5 best show I’ve ever been to.
Zach is an incredible singer songwriter. The words he chooses to use are just amazing.
“To you I’m just a man, to me your all I am, where the hell am I supposed to go” …..unreal.
This song makes me cry every time I listen to it.
I’ve been listening to Zach before he got a deal. Used to put his music out from his phone singing by a fire on UA-cam and Twitter. Dude is so talented. Gives me goosebumps and he’s like the only artist I listen to these days.
Jason Isbell, Elephant. If you enjoy this kind of storytelling and emotion, then you must listen to this! It has been voted as one of the "saddest songs ever written".
Dress Blues by Jason Isbell too.
Awesome reaction man.Zach converted me back to loving country when I was a young man I'm 39 now I loved country but grew out of but my daughter showed me this song and I fell back in love with country again
I love to be open and just love all music 😊
great vid, and my brother, lucero is still doing their thing just fine!
I’ve listened to this song like 100 times and I never skip it. Literally one of my favorite songs
This song brings tears,…so emotional. ❤
One of the best lyricists of our generation
Absolutely brilliant seeing your reaction to this track. 😂. He’s such a raw real artist that touches you to your core Brilliant.
All the best
i just saw Zach in concert on Monday and it was so worth it. i strongly believe he is one of the most inspirational and talented artists of our generation. all of his music is AMAZING and he always has such an amazing message in every song. love him ❤️
also, i’m not sure if you have already but i would definitely recommend Starved by Zach Bryan. it’s such an emotional and touching song.
I have had this guy as my Pandora station for the last year and half or 2 years and almost exclusively listen to it when im driving. Always good songs!
November Air paints a really good picture with a story and it’s about his mother who passed away while he was young. Other songs touching on this stuff by him are Snow, From A Lover’s Point of View. Also he was in the Navy Aviation Ordinance, his Dress Blues cover of this Jason Isbell song is fireee.
I’ve been listening to him for years now and I’m glad to see him gain traction and success but hate to see my hidden gem coming to the surface 😅
November Air is what made me fall in love with Zach, first song of his I ever heard and just stumbled onto it. And I’m so glad I did
I remember the first time I heard this song. It's the type of song that comes on, makes you look up, and say "wait what is that sound?!". Wish I could hear it again for the first time.
Almost every Zach Bryan song is emotional but “From a Lover’s Point of View” is a trip. You NEED to listen to that song.
This video was great, made me love the song all over again, and to watch someone see Zach Bryan for the first time was pretty awesome
You captured it perfectly. The first time I heard this song I listened to it like... 10 times and just had myself a good ol fashioned cry. Zach Bryan can do no wrong.
This is my freaking jam!!! It’s on my list of songs to be played at my funeral!!!
I saw him live this past summer. He puts on one hell of a concert
Zach Bryan is so talented. Saw him live twice this year and he's even better live.
If you can listen to this and not tear up, you must live a charmed life and have never known any pain.
LOVE how you break it down in your own interpretation ❤
Sort of Southern rock / folksy country
Love Zach. This is my husbands favorite song from him. Lucero is a badass band - thanks for reminding me of them
10:20 I have listened to this song I don't know how many times and never thought about this!!! You just changed this song around for me completely lol
The struggles that I've had with divorced and split parents, sitting down and listening to this with my dad hits me in a different way. Zach Bryan has helped me get through heartaches, I've cried alone and tried not to cry while listening to his songs. He is just absolutely amazing and underrated.
Him live at red rock. I listened to that on repeat for like 3 months.
Zach Bryan could be the greatest artist of today! Keep going into his catalog. Literally life changing music. I appreciate your raw reaction on this one, I felt it.
Happened to hear this song at a time that it just tore me to shreds. Like you say, you can feel it in his voice.
Glad you listened to your sister ;) His early, raw videos and songs with just him and his acoustic guitar are my favorite. "Condemned" and "Heading South" are other great ones.
Powerful song. Clever writing.
Emotional delivery. Universal topic.
A+
I had the same reaction. I was brought to tears so unexpectedly the first time I heard this song.
Love your reaction. Lovely and sincere and heartfelt.
He’s such an amazing artist. I love his new one “oklahoma smoke show” is freakin dope too. He makes Oklahomans PROUD!!!!!
This song live is so incredibly powerful and amazing!! Would go see him again in a heartbeat!!!😍
Every song he has makes you feel some kind of way. He's amazing
Im so glad you reacted to this song, ive been listening to it on repeat 100 times a day it is one of my favorite songs glad you got to finally enjoy this song
When he talks about seeing the orange In her eyes, I think about how seeing the orange all around him takes him back to an intimate moment of looking within her eyes. Beautiful song and I tear up damn near every time!
Love the content! Got on your channel on the first Hardy Reaction, and you just unlocked gold hopping onto Zach Bryan... Get ready to go down the rabbit hole on all of his music. Relatively new to your channel, but you should check out Tyler Childers if you haven't already!
I really love the way you listen to every word Zach singing and let them touch your soul🙏.
Dude doesnt miss, literally every song he has put out I've loved and played on repeat.
First time on your channel, but huge Zach Bryan fan. I didn't know other people reacted to music like this haha, gonna binge your content man. Emotion in music is the biggest kicker for me.
His live at the Red Rocks while it snows is out of this world.
Top 3 live performances EVER.
All his songs are deep!!! Relatable pretty much to everyone, one way or the other
HELL YES! Zach Bryan is absolutely phenomenal. You are going to be deep in a rabbit hole listening to him. He has released an incredible amount of music in the last few months! Enjoy!
Awesome reaction; beautiful song.
you know the songs good when it has you singing the lyrics before the song has even ended. I could repeat this song over and over and over it’s so beautiful
I hears this on the radio and was struck at the first line/notes.
Open the gates
November air and
Something in the orange are
My fav songs by Zach Bryan
"I poisoned myself again"....the bottle, his only comfort
I always thought that line was about how he fell in love again and know he’s poisoned. Idk could be dumb but love can be medicine or poison.
i just have to say as someone that was lucky enough to hear zack bryan when he was still at almost nothing as a following, its been amazing to watch him on his journey, i remember sitting with my buddy saying "im telling you this dude is gonna be #1 someday" and it just felt like overnight that i just started seeing everybody listening to him it was absolutely amazing to watch and see
Zack Bryan is his own thing. He gives me hope for the future of music.
The first time I heard this song I have been listening ever since I love it he is bad ass
Zach is like a country music Jesus. Real music, real writing. I saw him last summer and let me tell ya.. Hes the real deal
Jesus wouldn’t cheat on his wife
@@kennethculberson7215 you take sayings to literal. You must not understand
I LOVE that your feeling what I feel EVERYTIME I listen to this song🔥🙌🔥
Lets gooo every Zach Bryan song tells a great story! Hes also been on a roll releasing music this year with around 50 songs dropped. He sure does bless his listeners
Yeah it tears me up every time I hear it too. Great song, great musician.
It’s hard to find a genuine reactor that gets into the stories and songs as much I do. Earned yourself a sub sir!
I COMPLETELY AGREE: THIS ONE SONG... SOMEHOW IN SUCH UNCANNY WAY, IS JUST BY ITSELF BEING A LEGENDARY SONG. Much much respect and admiration to Zach Bryan for being the medium from the universe to even let this song be written...
the beauty of this song is it allows some open interpretation and no matter which way you see it, u can FEEL it. The back and forth yo-yoing between hope, anger, hate, love, even mid verse, sunrise, sunset, darkness, headlights...replicate the multitude of emotions and how quickly we can go back and forth between them.
Discovered Zach Bryan during my final weeks while living in Calgary, those trips into the mountains truely have a space in my heart and im reminded each time i hear Zach's music. Beautiful, all of it.
Favourite song ever, I pray I can witness this man’s greatness in Australia some day soon.
Awesome video too my man, new subscriber for sure
Makes me so emotional, this is an amazing song !!!!! goosebumps and tears = amazing music
