I second Connor on this one, Zach Bryan has done no bad songs. You want to hear a powerful, story-telling one that's bound to bring you to tears? Listen to Billy Stay off of his latest album, American Heartbreak. That song just puts you in the place of love and loss on a level that is hard to capture in a song but man, he does it and does it well.

@@Tuggernauts_I’ll third that. Every single song he has wrote is a masterpiece. A true storyteller with a genuine passion for what he does. My fav track on American Heartbreak is actually the last one, This Road I Know. The poem. It is sooo amazingly good. A couple of my other top songs by him that I truly connect to are Driving, Poems and Closing Time and Quiet, Heavy Dreams. He touches my soul with those in particular

"The Grass, Trees, and Dew, how I just hate you" is a deeper meaning. He hates seeing the grass, trees, and dew after the hope he had in the "orange" (the sun raising) reveals the grass, trees, and dew, but she hasn't come back yet.

As much as I love Zach Bryan's voice, and his musicianship, and everything else... He's probably the single greatest lyricist I've heard since Bob Dylan.
His ability to immediately and effortlessly key into basic human emotion, experience and feeling is incredible. He can just so easily express feelings all of us have had, including and, more importantly RESPECTFULLY key in on how we all feel in our lives is just... Incredible

“The orange” is based on perspective because in the morning it can signify the end of “darkness” but in the evening it’s just the beginning and he shows the emotions of both and his “darkness” being the loneliness he experiences without her. He really reminds be of Luke combs in a way. Luke does a phenomenal job about the songs be puts out are songs he can make click or atleast to me. Every one is just good one right after another. Zach does that but on a deeper level. Zach also writes the majority if not all his music. He is a phenomenal artist that is super under rated and under played. Sometimes I think that can help them be true to themselves and their style.

The consistency of top tier writing skill with applications across possibly all emotions and now even across various music types is why I currently have Hardy solid at the top of my list, but this song got me. 10:35 It seems to me that that abrupt change from "I hate you" to "Please turn those headlights around" is to show how when we are in agony we often do not just feel one way for a few minutes and then shift to another emotion eventually. We will be deep in sentimentality and longing with no concept of time, and then in an instant tear into fury and hate before just as quickly being swallowed by regret, desperation, and despair at our own helplessness to changr any of it. It's like begging for your life when you're at the mercy of a cruel, unfeeling executioner. One second you are wailing in panic and sadness, then another a wave of anger and bitterness hits you because there you know the executioner does not care, and then you can't help sink back into begging when that obviously does not work.
