    A quick note: Odds are I imagine some will argue whether or not the Prelude is a "Sports Car" or a "Sports Coupe," or "Sporty" coupe, GT car, whatever...I call it a sports car initially, although the first gen was more of a sporty coupe, followed by a sports coupe, followed by a legitimate sports car with the 4WS (in my opinion, and sort of how it was advertised, too), and a pair of GT cars with sport car-like potential. Honda themselves have advertised Preludes alternatively as sport coupes and sports cars, sometimes within the same gen, depending on the commercial or press release. It's a point of discussion that may simply lie in the realm of semantics. YMMV.

    The 4th and 5th gen were ahead of it time. Design aged very well, still better looking than modern cars. New one is not a true lineage.

    I sure hope they make it a 60K 4 door like the Integra. Remember when Integra's and Preludes were the top of the line luxury cars? neither do I...

    As an owner of the fifth gen prelude, its kinda sad to see that the new platform will take zero design principles from it. Doesn't even keep the hood depression lines. It looks good as a car, but to my eyes its quite boring. Has the same proportions as the 86 platform as well as the crown/prius headlights. It has more in common with the two door civics and accords than the preludes in design. I just want a prelude with prelude design principles. It just doesn't do it for me 😮‍💨

      Yea they could just use a new name

      @isaiahebert1475 It is very un-Prelude like as far as its previous forms go. I feel like it probably started as something else and then got the Prelude name down the line.

      @@velocemidwest I just realized that it's very similar to what Honda did with the new nsx compared to the original one. You just can't beat 90's styling 😭

    Bring it to us Honda! Make the hybrid e motor drive the rear wheels, a reverse of the NSX and Eray. Could be very cool.

    I own a '97 Type SH. I don't hate the look of the concept Lude. My gripe is the tall hood line. It's not very Prelude-like. I feel like if they just dropped in the same engines from the 10th gen Accord with the same 6 speed manual or 10 speed auto, that's a recipe for success. It doesn't need to be luxurious. It just needs to do the things the CIvic Si and Miata do right. Simple, affordable, driver-focused, downscale, and fun first. Finally, sports cars should be a little uncomfortable. Hear me out on this one - aren't all our favorite sports cars or sport coupes at least a little janky? They don't feel spacious. They aren't just incredibly quiet. They don't feel great running over bumps. I hit a pot hole in my Prelude once and felt like I needed a mechanic _and_ a doctor. You're not in a luxurious land yacht. You're in a sports car. You're _supposed_ to feel a little closer to the danger.

    Back of this Prelude looks like a 2008 Eclipse. First hatchback Prelude too. So it don't look like a Prelude or Integra with a trunk.

    I think it’ll do well with the 2.0T from the Accord, or even some variant on the J30 series like a V6 hybrid. I also like your idea of bringing a 4WS version! If they did it well, it could be an amazing tech that goes into their other vehicles. Oh… and a facia update from the concept because it can’t look like a Camry/Prius in the front. 😅 And maybe something to break up all that space on the rear bumper. It’s borderline sue-worthy with how similar they are.
    I wouldn’t be surprised if Acura did an RSX reboot on the same platform, but it would HAVE to have a lift back to make it a better choice than the Prelude.

    if you buy one, just don't forget to OPT OUT of data transmission software that tracks how you drive and where. I see far too many new car buyers going out and getting a Supra, signing all the papers without looking and inadvertently opting into lexus nexus data tracking; going and modifying their supras to 500whp and racing around on the highway... only to be letting every insurance company know their every move and then insurance rates skyrocket or out right get revoked and label these people uninsurable.

    • @twrcrew8852
      @twrcrew8852 3 місяці тому

      Also, everyone else's insurance goes up as more and more people continue to drive low IQingly and insurance companies paint a massive picture of idiots on the road, and therefore if you use the same roads as just about anyone, they will raise your rates for the mere risk of being next to them.

    As a 5th gen owner I must say it really doesn't resemble what I imagined a "new" prelude would appear as. Like the car borrows the front end of a Prius, the body of a Nissan Z, and the ass end of a porche. As far as design goes, it isn't exactly refreshing or interesting to say the least. The prelude used to represent Honda's tech advancements and new innovation, this just seems like more of what we're getting from everyone else

    • @velocemidwest
      @velocemidwest  3 місяці тому

      @jonashalasz3812 As far as the Prelude being Honda's tech car, the newest rumor I've heard (after I published this video of course) is that Honda's next gen Hybrid setup will debut in this car, something that'll be more advanced than what's coming in the Civic Hybrid. Rumor, anyway.

    Who is designing the new Hondas? They look like KIA and Hyundai designs.
    I'm currently driving a 2014 Accord EXL and will very soon be looking for another Honda but this is turning me off.

      Admittedly when I first saw the new Prelude it did remind me of the new Prius. Initially thought this was a new Celica until I saw it was a Honda. I do still like the styling for both cars, though.
