I always get a headache followed by severe nausea when I skip meals or don’t drink enough water. I can tolerate intermittent fasting but the water fast is what I can’t handle for long.
I am torn. If i am in ketosis then i get no migraines but am freezing cold. If I eat carbs i am warm but susceptible to blood sugar crash if i miss a meal. I've heard a migraine is an overreacting to stress. Like meningitis will put you down hard the brain thinks low blood sugar or whatever stress puts you down. One thing that helps me is Magnesium L-Threonate. It's the only Magnesium to cross the blood brain barrier and eliminates my tension.
I had same experience as you. So happy to read your comment. I have read in numerous places that electrolyte deficiency can bring on a headache during fasting, especially prolonged fasting. So I take as supplements, potassium, sodium, and magnesium. However, my headaches were not going away. Then I decided to try a different type of magnesium. I switched from magnesium glycinate to magnesium L-threonate, and my headache went away. I have been researching youtube videos and no one has specifically said that magnesium L-threonate can help alleviate headache pain brought upon by fasting. All I found was your comment, which for me is enough 👍😊
I have, it's called migraine with aura or classic migraine. I have been fasting for few weeks and today after 20 hour fasting I got the worst migraine with aura for long time. That's why I ended up here to find out additional information.
I used to get those when younger. After smoking too much weed once, they actually went away. Those migraines were scary. The blurred aura vision followed by numbness of my entire arm and then the supernova migraine
@@neoone75migraine is a neurological disorder. The pain is caused by over dilation of the blood vessels in the scalp. There’s so many triggers but only one way to stop the pain. Vasoconstrictors. You can’t eat anything that will shrink those blood vessels in any measurable way. If you want answers you need to seek them OUTSIDE the United States. Even Canada warns migraine sufferers about high pressure systems that trigger them. I suffered from age 4-35 with them. I get one every few years. Usually from overindulgence of smoked meats like bacon, sausage, pepperoni etc.
the answer I was looking for.. was 12 hrs to 72 hrs fast when started getting tension headache...was tempted to do bulletproof coffee but unsure so thanks for this.
Does this apply also to vestibular migraines? I’ve been fasting for 11 weeks but when I go over 40 hrs, it gets triggered and I start having imbalance issues.
no because it bypasses your digestive system since the fat molecules are small enough to trigger it. they go straight to liver and converted into ketones
So it’s not true fasting, you are correct. But it’s a way to fast if you are unable to do a true fast, and still get most of the benefits of the true fast. Also I have done this as a bridge to get to true fasting without triggering a migraine. I skip meals and have coffee with cream instead then after a few days I can do a true fast.
The questions are very good but the answers are not really broaden and informative. Should explain more. How to cope and what to eat if start headache when on IF. Thank you.
My dear the key is to stay away from all processes foods and sweets. And only consume high fiber and high fat diet. This helps you to stay in the fasting state longer without insulin surge that always breaks the fasting katabolic state.
It sound like your likely doing it wrong. First do a keto diet for some time, then intermittent fasting (fast 18h, eat keto diet for the remaining 6h) Then start prolonged fasting. Bloating sounds like your eating carbs and sugars. (Same thing really ) i.o.w. a glucose based energy consumption. If its keto based the excess liquids leaves you rather rapidly. Then you also loose minerals, electrolytes so you'd ned t take electrolytes in the beginning to not feel sick. Hope this helps
@@galadriel3134 not necessarily, that's the way I have done but still get migraines with aura longer than 20 hours of fasting. We all are different. There's no one fits all method.

No reason to ever be water fasting unless it’s for religious fasting.
Same ... i wanted to get rid of my insulin resistance
Fasting heals in general. Ketones and autophagy rock and rule👊🏼
This talk was very useful. Although I knew something but doctor explained all nicely. Thanks.
This is what I was looking for …really amazingly insightful!!!
What a wonderful video! This really cleared up the confusion I’ve been having.
Bone broth also helps

So it’s not fasting if you are in ingesting calories via the coconut fat. ????

You are correct but it helps you stay in ketogenic state without starving
@@russell7768 you can consume 50 calories per fasting and it's still so called true fasting.

Im thinkin my body doesnt like fasting. I get migraines im bloated. I cant lose weight. I think my body thinks its in starvation😩
Everyone is different some can handle fasting some cannot. I maybe able to do it once a week but not everyday
Maybe you need to start with a smaller eating window and progress from skipping meals to skipping days
Maybe try eating twice a day 18 hour fasting and then OMAD(one meal a day) and then going 2 days.

GET TO THE POINT OF THE TITLE
Speed up the video. That's what I do.
Wtf? If you’re having calories you break your fast. Make this make sense
I couldn't watch the whole video
