This movie is more terrifying than Jaws. Ket spent half the time with her hands covering her mouth, yet she managed to talk.😊 Love Kot's expressions and responses.
Still love Jaws though but love this also.
@@jdogjohnson382 Yeah, Jaws is in a league of its own. You didn't fully see the monster (shark) until the last third of the movie. The build up was amazing.

Same here. But those would be part of my top 5 from the 80s. Star Trek: Wrath of Khan, Aliens, Terminator 1, Terminator 2, Die Hard .
I remember watching this in theaters when it first came out in 1986.
The audience was so into it. When Ripley finally closed that airlock at the end, there was literally cheers and a standing ovation in the theater.
I used to think Cameron deliberately put that lingering close up on Ripley's face for a few seconds to allow audiences time to cheer.

The actress who played Vazquez isn’t Hispanic and they actually used make up to Darken her skin, she is actually Russian Jewish decent.
The alien queen didn’t operate the elevator buttons, Ripley pushed the buttons for both elevators, the alien just got in when the door opened.
But how did the elevator get activated to drop off the queen on the same floor Ripley was on? You need to push a floor button once you get inside the elevator, which the Queen apparently did.

Ellen Ripley is one of the best characters in the entire history of cinema, she is the perfect hero, with exceptional charisma, who does what needs to be done and without any need for powers or other kind of magical stuff.
please, don't spoil the good memories and good feelings that these two movies gave you by watching the other movies after these, if you want just watch the 2004 movie "alien vs predator", which is not bad at all, the other movies either are garbage (in part or in whole), or simply ruin what was done with the first 2.
Aliens is arguably the greatest sci-fi ever and the greatest sequel ever made. You shouldve watched the special edition

So let me get this straight Weyland-Yutani Corporation, there was a colony on LV-426 for twenty years, never found the derelict spacecraft, and only when Ripley is found, makes her report, including the coordinates of the craft, only a few weeks after that is the colony overwhelmed by aliens… 🤔

Yeah, they definitely worked off the information in her report.
It's possible they had been waiting a long time for confirmation and details on exactly where that Alien ship was because they lost it when the Nostromo was destroyed.
Probably forgot all about it until Ripley popped up alive.
They apparently knew something about the Aliens even before that, as they redirected the Nostromo to go to LV426 in the first place.

There are three actors who are in both Aliens and Terminator. A fourth actor is in both Aliens and Terminator 2.
Lance Henricksen. In Aliens, he plays the android named Bishop who Ripley does not trust, until the end, where she is grateful for all he did (just before he gets ripped in 2 by the queen xenomorph). In Terminator, he plays a police detective who is some sort of assistant to, or underling to, Lieutenant Traxler, both of which work in the police department's headquarters, where Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese are taken after the car chase.
Michael Biehn. In Aliens he plays Corporal Dwayne Hicks, the only soldier who survives until the end; earlier, right after the initial onslaught by the xenomorphs, he repeats what Ripley said about taking off and nuking the whole place from space because that is the only way to be sure. In Terminator he plays the lead male role; Kyle Reese, who traveled back through time to protect Sarah Connor.
Bill Paxton. In Aliens, he plays Private Hudson, who Bishop plays the quickly-stab-the-knife-between-the-fingers game with early on, and later in the movie Hudson freaks out several times ("Game over, man, game over!") before being pulled down into the floor by a xenomorph. In Terminator, he has a very small role: in the beginning, when Arnold is naked and needs clothes, Bill Paxton plays the leader of the 3 punks at the telescope (Paxton is the one with spikey blue hair).
Jenette Elise Goldstein. In Aliens, she plays PFC Jenette Vasquez, who is a tough marine, and has a great come back line to one of the soldiers (The male soldier asks her if she has ever been mistaken for a man, and she replies, "No, have you?"). In Terminator 2, she plays the foster mom of John Connor ("She's not my mother, Todd"), who gets copied by the "liquid metal" (mimetic polyalloy) terminator.
A little off the topic. Cameron really liked that bunch for his movies. Jenette Goldstein and Bill Paxton were also both in Titanic. And Michael Biehn was in The Abyss. Arnold Schwarzenegger was in Terminator 1 & 2 and True Lies.
Vasquez also pops up in T2 as John's step mom and both Vasquez and Drake are in Lethal Weapon 2 !
If you wait till the very end, after the credits you can hear an egg opening or a face hugger running on the ground.......

Fun Fact: Theatrical movie debut of Jenette Goldstein.
Historical Fact: Al Matthews, who plays a Marine sergeant in this film, was in real life the first black Marine to be promoted to the rank of sergeant in the field during service in Vietnam.
Gun Enthusiast Fact: James Cameron personally designed the M-41A pulse rifle. He based it on the WW2 Thompson sub-machine gun. The pistol used by Colonial Marines is a Heckler and Koch VP70.
Movie Magic Fact: The full-size queen puppet was actually too big to fit into the elevator. For the shot where she is seen there, her tail was removed, and yet the back of the elevator still had to be opened to accommodate the prop; smoke effects, dark lighting, and a black curtain at the back obscure this.
Cute Kid Fact: When filming the scene with Newt in the duct, Carrie Henn kept deliberately blowing her scene so she could slide down the vent, which she later called a slide three stories tall. James Cameron finally dissuaded her by saying that if she completed the shot, she could play on it as much as she wanted. She did and he kept his promise.

Nope, your girl is right: that last lingering shot is to give us a sense of uncertainty, "was Newt impregnated?" I personally want to believe she is okay, that they hadn't gotten her yet, but that last shot was meant to have us feel uneasy.

It looks like you're watching the theatrical version that I saw in 1986. It is a great introduction to "Ripley and the Soldiers," but the Special Edition adds weight to this tale, and answers a question I had back then. 7:44 I noticed that Ripley was able to "get close, quickly" to Rebecca, unlike the female Marines. A reviewer of the time said "Sisterhood!" I bought the Special Edition Laserdisc(!) and confirmed that Ripley had been a parent. The Sentry Gun Boogaloo and the "Dwayne/Ellen" scenes were an added plus. 15:35 The manual of arms. 16:36 A (sorta) positive aspect of smoking cigarettes. 19:50 They went out like Klingon warriors. 21:16 The right tool for the job with Duck tape. 22:32 The Egg Chamber. 26:43 Final Jeopardy! If you insist on seeing "Alien3" (1992), find the Assembly Cut, which makes more sense than the theatrical Studio Interference Cut.

Alien3 is shocking, such a suprsing risky choice to rake the series, would make for a curious and different kind of reaction. Btw there’s another Alien film titled Alien Romulus coming to cinemas August 16 2024.

the girl who plays newt is a teacher at a school near me in California. my wife used to work with her.
seems like the aliens main purpose is reproduction and defense. based off the first movie it would seem isolated normal aliens - without a queen - can egg-morph their victims to ensure survival of the specials. adaptable little shits.
If you do Alien3 do the unofficial cut. The studio butchered the theatrical release.

Have you both found the secret sauce for UA-cam? Most reactors are over-editing, constantly talking, changing the volume to avoid getting flagged and yet you both tend to just play and let it ride?
I'm glad you think so, because we editing a lot! We can't show more than 4-5 secs and jumps from scene to scene have to be more than 10 secs as well

Best Sci Fi Action Movie Ever Made!
Too short fragments, feels too "rushy". You could just hide the picture but allow to sound still going on if you care about blocking or something. There are many episodes in the movies that shouldn't be cut like that. Otherwise it feels like just 2-3 seconds cuts from the movie with little or not deep enough reaction from your side.
Back when blockbuster action movies didnt kill suspense by have dumb comedic moments every 5 seconds ( Marvel )

Great movie, one of favourite. But I personally love more Alien 3. You can watch it too, but it's not very entertaining. It's like a high budget depressive art-house.

Hi guys. This is my favorite movies series. I have to give you another DISLIKE. In Alien I suggested you pick out the important scenes, watch them and then comment on character interaction. Here many, many are missing. Did you watch the reaction to Alien made by the 3 youtuber reaction makers who i suggested make a good reaction? I dont think so. When you view a movie series, you suppose to know about and follow the history, but you dont. I'll suggest Prometheus as the next one in the series. Dont bother with Alien 3 and Resurrection they are junk. Dont talk about actors in other movies.
