haha our wedding cost $5K but I estimate it really cost $8K with all the extra spending leading up that I wasn’t allowed to include in the wedding budget. We collected $6K in cash wedding gifts. So we broke even. We rented a venue to dance and a hotel room (that is literally walking distance from where we live) but we didn’t feed our guests. That’s the secret folks, don’t feed your guests and no open bar. People eat every day and are more than happy to pay for their own drinks. To each their own, but you can totally invite 100 people and have a big dance party for under $10K, please budget.
It’s disgusting how ppl are normalizing paying more for a wedding in this economy. Over HALF OF 6 figures??? Literal insanity. Try this for the ppl serious about building their wealth: a wedding is about showing off to other ppl that you’re happily married, and paying to feed them and entertain them in the process. You can show that off for free with pictures from your honeymoon and INSTEAD, spend loads of money on your DREAM HONEYMOON! If you’re going to blow your own money, invest it in yourselves, not a bunch of people outside of your relationship. - happily married woman; experience 😊
