knowing that he never wanted this song to be a single or to be in the album at all because of the pain from his break up ... makes this song so much more more powerful. One of my favorite Rock Albums of all time if not my favorite

In my opinion that's hands down best version of Black I've ever seen performed by my favorite band👍. Like she says you can feel his emotions pouring out thru entire performance. If you react to "Jeremy" from Pearl Jam i recommend the official video uncut, the unplugged Version is very good but the context and song is better expressed in the official video(Evenflow is also recommended). Also their song "Evolution" was impressiv but insanly depressing(the award wining offical video is amazingly drawn, but the emotional summary of humankind is really not light on your mind). Keep on rocking Aileen, greetings from Cologne.
Girl, I was crying with you, and I've been listening to this song for like 30 years lol. That song was kinda the anthem for the broken-hearted for my generation...if that performance didn't make you feel something, you need a new soul. Eddie's still amazing, one of the most important voices of our time. I've seen several comments about this, so I'll reiterate it ~ Jeremy should be next, and it should be the official unedited version. But if you cried at this song...bring your tissue box. It's an incredibly important song, the story's impact is best felt through the official video. "Porch" live at pinkpop festival is next on the list after Jeremy.
“I know someday you'll have a beautiful life I know you'll be a star In somebody else's sky But why Why Why can't it be Oh can't it be mine” Leaves me broken time and time again
"I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky. But why can't it be mine." One of the most profound and emotionally raw lyrics ever written.
So, I was in my prime years for grunge, and even being a metal head, I LOVED it. However, Pearl Jam was of my least favorite. In my later years now, I've come to appreciate them so much more. The studio version of this song is one of my absolute favorite songs of all time
@@davidphillips9726 There are bands from every generation that I grew to like over time. Some turned out to be all-time favorites. As I get older I learn to slow down and actually listen to music as well as "feel" the music. It has opened me up to artists and bands that I wouldn't even give a chance when I was younger. It's great!
I know I'm late to the comment section here but just consider for a minute that Eddie, and Kurt Cobain, and Layne Stayley, and Chris Cornell all started bands in the Seattle area in the 80's. How one city could be so blessed with that ridiculous amount to talent all at one time. Wish I could've been there so see them all in the local scene. Just incredible.
My old supervisor used to own a record store there and talked about the days before they were all huge and would just come by the store. Absolutely wild
I was born in Tacoma Wa a little south of Seattle in 1980 and left to Texas when I was 10 years old. Something I remember as a kid was in elementary school, the curriculum was teaching us music theory in 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade. They really push the arts in school in that area at least when I was there. They had none of that in Texas until middle school. Needless to say I was drawn to music early in life because of this and became a musician. This could have been why such musical talent came from that area at the time.
I hope you take this the right way, but it makes me so happy that you wept. It is important for our souls to connect to music and for it to mean something. Your channel is a breath of fresh air. You watch with openness and appreciation and, for me anyway, you make me feel like I'm listening for the first time. thank you and you have a forever follower in me. oh and not even for your channel, but watch the official video(full length unedited) for Jeremy by Pearl Jam. It is scary how relevant it still is in 2022 as it was in 1991. --- be well
I subscribed just because of your emotional reaction to Eddie's tremendous performance. I'm so glad you felt the same emotion that I and plenty of others feel/felt when watching this wonderful rendition of Black.
OMG! Thank you Alieen! Thats some great Music! I also recommend Even Flow, Alive, Daughter and Jeremy (Official Video). Eddie Vedders Voice is one of a kind. There is just no one like him. ❤️
Loved your reaction. The thing about Eddie Vedder is that he can’t sing any song without putting his entire being into it. He gives 100% every time. His lyrics are poetry, and while his voice has deepened, and he doesn’t hit the high notes as much anymore, it’s still beautiful 30 years later. Pearl Jam is a deep rabbit hole worth diving into, as is Eddie’s solo work. I simply adore his voice. If you react to his work, I’ll be listening. Subscribed.
So many great songs off of Pearl Jams debut album 10. Jeremy, Even Flow,Black was the one the really got to me emotionally, and this unplugged performance shows how intense Eddie Vedder can be in front of the mic, awesome choice of song and performance.
@@stephen9302 I agree I remember many late night Cruise's blasting this CD, especially Jeremy I think when it was released it was so different and yeah it was a jam for my car anyways.😊

I'm from Seattle and lived through the entire "grunge era." Eddie was one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet, he'd talk to you about anything but just don't fan on him as he'd walk away from you. This particular song was very personal to him and he did not like talking about it, or listening to others do so. All I can really say is that it was a great time to live in Seattle and I miss it very much.
I don't know what it is about watching other people's reactions to this performance, but it's almost validation for how deeply this song, the lyrics and the passion all resonate with me emotionally. It moves me to tears every time because like many people, I too, have felt this way about a lost love. This is cathartic, I guess. Thank you for the free therapy session lol
Yes! It's amazing to me because I remember the very first time I heard this song- just the CD version, and still having that "whoa" feeling and having to take a deep breath. It's nostalgic to see these younger people feeling the same thing I felt back then.
Aileen, ❤... You are the reason why people as talented and emotive as Eddie, Chris Cornell (RIP), Layne Staley (RIP) and Maynard do this. To feel, to put yourself in their shoes, to relate it to anything in your life and to interpret it in your own way. Thank you for your candid and emotional response. Laura from Boston ❤ Be kind, it's easy ❤❤
How fortunate are we for being able to be alive during the grunge golden days... Eddie, Chris, Kurt, Layne, Jerry and so many others. We are so blessed
Oh my god, this is such a powerful performance. I've seen it 100 times and every time feels like the 1st time. Chokes me up, chills, just blows me away with passion he sings, like he's singing YOUR story. He's a treasure.
I love Eddie’s voice!! One of the best and most recognizable voices ever! Please listen to Hunger Strike by Temple of the Dog, it’s Eddie and Chris Cornell (one of the best voices in rock) and you will fall in love with both of them!
To anyone who has felt a relationship fall apart and for love to be unrequited this song hits. Its like a grieving process when the person you love moves on and you have to accept they'll be happy with somebody else while you dwell in your sadness over the heartache.
Eddie Vedder instantly transports me back to the 90s when i was listening to this for the first time. Just like then, it never fails to make me tear up and nostalgic. As a teenager filled with undescribable Angst, the Voice the Music the lyrics , Convey Everything I cant logically express verbally
Besides the heavily emotional delivery Eddie pulled off for this performance, the other thing I truly admire is how he just went for it, in that acoustic setting. It was a very small crowd, but also intimate, and as a vocalist you have to push thru and give it everything. And Eddie absolutely did.
I've always loved this song for so long now. I'm a 42 yr old man and this song makes me cry every time. This version unplugged just hits so much harder and hits home so much more. I was a balling mess after the song. Eddie will always have the most unique voices I've ever heard and I'll always be a forever Pearl Jam fan. 🎤 🎸 🎶
Ah yes now shes down the unplugged alley. The whole pearl jam performance is great but im glad you reacted to this song. Check out other unplugs. I recommend alice in chains, nirvana, and stone temple pilots
He had alot of drama with his wife back then. He's a great singer, especially live. I saw Pearl Jam live before I saw Alice in Chains ⛓️ live, THEY BOTH ARE UP THERE WITH BEST LIVE BANDS I'VE EVER SEEN
It's wonderful to see younger people listen, and appreciate the music we had in the 80's/90's, and it says so much about that music, that it's still powerful enough to evoke such emotion. Great reaction vid. Subbing.
Songs like this show just how great Eddie and Chris Cornell,RIP, are and why they were such great friends. They both have a voice that can move you in so many ways
Oh girl, you're gonna love your Pearl Jam journey. 'Release', 'Indifference', 'Just Breathe', 'Elderly woman behind the counter' will all melt your soul. So much great music in their catalog.
Release me is another emotional vocal performance by Eddie, talking about releasing his emotions he felt about his father. He never knew his dad and found out later after he had already passed that his dad was someone else. I don’t know which live performance is best for that one, I will have to search and post link here. Glad you chose another of my list of vocal performances I recommend back in one of my comments, glad you enjoyed it as much as I thought you would. Great reaction as always, love it
Sadly this live version was shortened but for full lyrics: Hey, oh Sheets of empty canvas Untouched sheets of clay Were laid spread out before me As her body once did All five horizons Revolved around her soul As the earth to the sun Now the air I tasted and breathed Has taken a turn Oh and all I taught her was everything Oh I know she gave me all that she wore And now my bitter hands Chafe beneath the clouds Of what was everything Oh the pictures have All been washed in black Tattooed everything I take a walk outside I'm surrounded by Some kids at play I can feel their laughter So why do I sear Oh, and twisted thoughts that spin Round my head I'm spinning Oh, I'm spinning How quick the sun can, drop away And now my bitter hands Cradle broken glass Of what was everything All the pictures have All been washed in black Tattooed everything All the love gone bad Turned my world to black Tattooed all I see All that I am All that I'll be, yeah Uh huh, uh huh, oh I know someday you'll have a beautiful life I know you'll be a star In somebody else's sky But why Why Why can't it be Oh can't it be mine
I let all of my emotions flow through this song when my ex sent me on my way this past February. As beautiful of a song that it is, it's a knife that still pierces what's left of my heart.
i think nirvana’s unplugged performance was great as well, “the man who sold the world” and “where did you sleep last night” are some gems, you should check them out
I'm so glad you reacted to this masterpiece of a song. I love how deep she engages herself within the music and this song just takes you to a place you didn't know you were gonna go. This song has incredible meaning to me personally because it describes my relationship with my high school sweetheart and the incredible heartbreak of a journey we went through with each other and something I would never forget and although I want her to be happy I always wondered why we went through what we went through. But regardless this song is simply one of the most beautiful songs of all time and hits every emotion very deeply especially with the way he sings with so much pain and passion. Awesome reaction and an appropriate one too.
I still remember when their album came out which while I was in high school. My friend had just got dumped by his gf so he wanted to listen to this song; poor guy looked completely defeated and destroyed. Since then though he found great girl, married and with kids. And if I recall, Eddie had a head cold or flu when unplugged was recorded. But he still puts that raw emotion, face gestures as he sings.
Very, *very* few have managed to watch that performance and not be moved deeply. It's truly amazing how Eddie can practically wail out his pain and heartbreak and at the same time sing so damn *well*.
"I know one day you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a sun...in somebody else's sky, but why oh why can't it be mine?" Hits with the same kind of genuine heartbreak you hear in "The Love You Want," "Atlantic," and "Fall For Me" by Sleep Token.
"Black" is simply a stunning heartbreak of a song, beautiful no matter what version of it you watch (personal favourite is the live version from Pink Pop in '92). Not a bad song on the 1st album "Ten", from "Jeremy" (the official full video) and "Porch" (Again, the live at Pink Pop '92 version is fun) to "Garden", "Even Flow" and "Release" - i'd also recommend checking out stuff like "Wash", "State of Love and Trust", "Breath", "Indifference", "Rearviewmirror" from around the period of the 1st and 2nd albums (and from the 2nd) - there's a lot of later stuff that's awesome as well, and a great band to see live :) You've opened a massive rabbithole into several bands, not just Pearl Jam...
It’s so wonderful to see new people discovering the great music of the 90’s. Pearl Jam live are such a treat. There are hundreds of bootlegs of their live shows (and other 90’s bands) here on UA-cam from their very first performance in Oct. 1990, up to the concert tour they are doing right now. It’s one of my favorite rabbit holes to fall into for sure.
This is about someone he was in love with that broke his heart for someone else. He’s talked about it. First album I ever bought. One of the best performances and voices ever still. Watch the entire 45 min of MTV Unplugged it’s unreal.
I will forever envy the crowd that got to watch this live. The power and emotion of the performance. I felt goosebumps here. I'd probably be hit with the holy spirit or some shit there.
That whole Unplugged concert is fucking amazing from start to finish. That one and Nirvana's Unplugged set will go down in history. Stripped down to a softer sound, it really amplified the emotion of the lyrics.
I recommend pretty much everything on their first 3 albums and a whole lot more after that. I mean they're my favorite band so I like almost all their stuff. But to name a few. From their first album, Ten: Deep, Porch, Release, and Garden, plus all the stuff that was on the radio like Even Flow, Alive, Jeremy, Once. Also from around this time but not on the album is a really great song called Yellow Ledbetter. From their second album, Vs: Dissident, Indifference, W.M.A. and all their singles, Go, Animal, Daughter, Rearview Mirror, and Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town. On their 3rd album, Vitalogy: Tremor Christ, Last Exit, Spin the Black circle and their singles Corduroy, Immortality, Not For you, and Better Man. Well that should keep you busy for a minute. Anyway that's their first 3 albums. After that they had less hits but there are still plenty more great songs to come. They have like 8 more studio albums after these.
Everyone falls in love with Eddy's voice and his passion . I can see it in your eyes. I'm 65 and still listening to rock, grunge and all the music I grew up with, it's the best...
So happy you reacted to this one. The studio recording sounds almost similar to this. 90s bands almost sounded similar to the actual studio recording. It's rare nowadays. Eddie Vedder will always be one of the kings of grunge. His voice is soulfully amazing. So much emotion and grit!!
That's the real True emotions that came out right there! You're in it and can't stop it anymore, want listen to the end because you're in a flow. That song and the way it was performed here is so ass-kicking good, I heard it like a thousand times and still can't get enough! One of the best live acts ever!
Me and my best friend from school alway say how much we love this tune and how emotional it is and Eddie absolutely kills it in this! Tears in my eyes every time!! Everyone enjoys this amazing tune ❤
Iconic band, song and performance. Some were in camp Nirvana-claiming Kurt was the "voice of our generation". Eddie was my voice; one of the most iconic voices in music.
"I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be the sun, in somebody else's skies, why, why, why can't it be, can't it be mine." That part at the end of the song is one of my top 5 of written lyrics in any song I've heard, ever. So beautiful and poetic. Full of pain, heartache and love at the same time. Love this song.
I am usually a fan of studio versions/albums. But this version blew me away. It is so heartbreaking in the most beautiful way and you feel the pain of losing someone that you believe is your one true love. Eddie is absolutely amazing and I was so impressed by the feelings he conveyed in this live version. I actually have a hard time going back and listening to the album version now. Don't worry about crying...I was right there with you, tearing up! Great reaction. Thank you for your time!
MTV unplugged was perfect for grunge music. You can really hear the emotion that grunge music was based on. Any Pearl Jam song from their unplugged is a good listen. Also Alice n Chains, and Nirvana.
This is a stunning all-time great performance. Some of the vamping at the end is not on the album version (the screams of yeah no, we belong together) and served a further highlight the power and raw emotion of this particular performance
Ive watched quite a few of these reaction videos (especially to this song and live performance). I'm 48, from Seattle, and have a special place in my heart for the grunge movement. I remember when this was on MTV and my feelings that were brought to the surface listening to Eddie Vedder then and now are still the same. I am THRILLED that you were able to appreciate and embrace those emotions. You explained it beautifully. A beautiful sadness. A journey.
That one lyric has resonated with me since I was a child...20 years later it still makes me tear up. I know someday you'll have a beautiful life I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky. But why can't it be me? Eddie was under appreciated as a poet.
Eddie is my favorite vocalist, hes not insane with his range or anything but its the little details, the fast vinrato, the voice breaks, the sheer grit, he conveys emotion so well. Ive seen this performance like 50 times and I still teared up at all the parts you did. Easily my favorite live performance, along with Linkin Park and Jay Z doing 99 problems/One Step Closer live, but thats for a whole different reason
The fact that your reaction was that emotional during my favorite Pearl Jam song, you gained yourself a subscriber. Plus you are gorgeous. Keep up the great work!
I've seen a lot of reactions to this song. Yours stands out for sure. You get it. I love your reaction. This song is very personal to Eddie and his performance here Is so heartfelt that it actually hurts to watch. What a beautiful performance.
This live version is much much better than the studio version. Eddie’s voice is legendary because it’s so different and it just works even though it’s hard to describe technically. When they performed this that night, Eddie was actually quite sick with an upper respiratory infection or flu so his voice isn’t even at 100% here but I think that just makes the emotion in his performance even more powerful! Pearl Jam has been and is still very very good sounding live…even though they are now in their 50’s and older. Still going strong doing live shows everywhere. They are the only still alive, still together OG Seattle rock/grunge band from the early days of grunge. All the others..Soundgarden, Nirvana, Alice In Chains etc are either broken up or no longer the original band lineup. Pearl Jam is somehow still kicking. Hope they are around for a very long time!
I don't really sing but since I love this song so much, me, as a shy guy, usually when pressed against the wall is my go to song, and I'm happy that most people don't comment about vocals or rythim, they comment about the emotion, and that keeps me going as a guitarrist... This song really is meant to be played with emotion (no fear tho) and just pure dedication and fuch everyone that is around. Just live that moment. And it amazes me how Eddie has done that so many times just perfectly. You gotta watch his tribute to his friend Chris Cornell at Firenze Rocks 2017.. It'll be the most emotional version you'll ever hear
Eddie sang this as an acapella a month after Chris Cornell died. He and Chris go back to the beginning of it all, and had remained good friends throughout the years. While this performance was quite powerful, the emotions from this show were amplified 10 fold. Eddie is all that really remains of the '90s grunge scene. With the loss of Kurt, then Layne a few years later on the same day as Kurt. And then we lost Scott Weiand, and then his best friend Chris. This song will always get to me emotionally. I think it hits everyone because of that significant loss in someones life. Here's the link for the show I'm referring to ua-cam.com/video/CJZS2mlQX1U/v-deo.html
It's 100x better if you grew up hearing these songs and they just sort of "sounded good" and then later in life you hear them again and actually listen and relate to them
The “I know someday you’ll have a beautiful life” section is so perfectly worded. Eddie really captured that pain so well I tear up every time he sings it.

The entire unplugged album/episode is magic.
“I know someday you'll have a beautiful life
I know you'll be a star
In somebody else's sky
But why
Why
Why can't it be
Oh can't it be mine”
Leaves me broken time and time again
This is why so many people absolutely loved Pearl Jam. Eddie felt every word he sang and you knew he meant it.
"I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky. But why can't it be mine."
One of the most profound and emotionally raw lyrics ever written.
Plus the way he delivers it is just...
I'm still too close to this lyric since 1994, I'm still not ready to discuss.
@@hazysummersky Yeah I feel that one :(
So, I was in my prime years for grunge, and even being a metal head, I LOVED it.
It's great!
She said it- You weren`t listening to a song. You were experience a moment. And a movement. Just like we did back in the day.
One of the greatest live performances of any genre ever. Simply amazing.
Facts
I know I'm late to the comment section here but just consider for a minute that Eddie, and Kurt Cobain, and Layne Stayley, and Chris Cornell all started bands in the Seattle area in the 80's. How one city could be so blessed with that ridiculous amount to talent all at one time. Wish I could've been there so see them all in the local scene. Just incredible.
Keep in mind, Eddie came from the LA/SD area of California to join the band...
My old supervisor used to own a record store there and talked about the days before they were all huge and would just come by the store. Absolutely wild
If you’re not familiar with Mother Love Bone, look up Andrew Wood.
Sometimes a certain city's music scene really takes off and gets huge. It happened in the late 70s early 80s in New York as well.
If you thought this was was raw emotion, wait until you hear "Release me" That one still makes me cry!
"Release" live please!
Still my favorite song on this album, and from the band. Ever since I first heard it back when I was in 8th grade.
@@azja6666 Both old and new versions of the live song are amazing too!
Ever since my Dad passed away that song absolutely tares me up, inside and out.
“Release Me” is my favorite PJ song.
Now THAT is how you react to Black by Pearl Jam. I love your reactions so much. Keep up the hard work!
thank you so much!
Agreed.
@@AileenSenpai I highly recommend these three songs by Pearl Jam. "Last Kiss"..."Release"...."Garden". Not live but the album versions.
--- be well
Thank you 🖤
I agree! It’s meant to make you feel his pain so tears when you hear it are appropriate!
All great songs i want to add Garden to the list
@@chrono050 ❤️ ten is a masterpiece
@@someoneyoudontknow342 and Vs was better
@@FeelItRising i love both. Vs was the first one ive listened tho
Back when you bought an album/CD/record and it has ZERO bad songs. Pearl Jam's " Ten " was TIMELESS
@@stephen9302 I agree I remember many late night Cruise's blasting this CD, especially Jeremy I think when it was released it was so different and yeah it was a jam for my car anyways.😊
@@lantzkeefer6 HECK YA!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘I was a 90's kid , but the music of the 90's ( and even 1970's) will NEVER be matched. 70's had Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, MANY OTHERS) and 90's had Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains....to name a FEW) GREAT TIMES!!! @@stephen9302 It's scary how new music has lost its ❤️
And Release, the greatest of them all.
You can't experience the pain of 1st love until you have loved .
They have so many great songs. Over 30 years worth.
One of the most powerful performances I've ever seen! Beyond emotion!
I love what you are doing
Your reaction to this is exactly what a ton of us felt. It’s a powerful song.
Wow! Unique voice, a LOT of power. I don't think I've ever heard him before... I'll have to look up more Pearl Jam.
Definitely check them out. I think you just might rate them a _Ten._ 😉
Agreed. The Chris/Eddie vocal mix was so awesome.
As a teenager filled with undescribable Angst, the Voice the Music the lyrics , Convey Everything I cant logically express verbally
love watching ppl react to this song. It's a banger :D good job!
Top 5 Unplugged performances ever. Imagine being so talented you can take a deep pain you experienced and turn it into a beautiful gift for the world.
He was surely somewhere else when he performed this song. One of my favorite live performance that I have ever seen. Simply beautiful
Your eyebrows speak as much if not more than your voice. It’s fucking amazing. Love your reactions 😊
Great reaction as always, love it
This is also the basis for "Alive".
Holland 1992 version on youtube it is amazing....by the way my favourite song if all the time...is wonderful...
Sadly this live version was shortened but for full lyrics:
Hey, oh
Sheets of empty canvas
Untouched sheets of clay
Were laid spread out before me
As her body once did
All five horizons
Revolved around her soul
As the earth to the sun
Now the air I tasted and breathed
Has taken a turn
Oh and all I taught her was everything
Oh I know she gave me all that she wore
And now my bitter hands
Chafe beneath the clouds
Of what was everything
Oh the pictures have
All been washed in black
Tattooed everything
I take a walk outside
I'm surrounded by
Some kids at play
I can feel their laughter
So why do I sear
Oh, and twisted thoughts that spin
Round my head
I'm spinning
Oh, I'm spinning
How quick the sun can, drop away
And now my bitter hands
Cradle broken glass
Of what was everything
All the pictures have
All been washed in black
Tattooed everything
All the love gone bad
Turned my world to black
Tattooed all I see
All that I am
All that I'll be, yeah
Uh huh, uh huh, oh
I know someday you'll have a beautiful life
I know you'll be a star
In somebody else's sky
But why
Why
Why can't it be
Oh can't it be mine
It’s not shortened at all
I let all of my emotions flow through this song when my ex sent me on my way this past February.
I’ve heard this song 100 times. Watched the video 100 times.. Seen loads of reactions…. And I cry every time. Every time.
Same
I am watching your reaction to black for 100th time. And l am just noticing your eyes sing...very beautiful. I really enjoy your reactions!
Very, *very* few have managed to watch that performance and not be moved deeply. It's truly amazing how Eddie can practically wail out his pain and heartbreak and at the same time sing so damn *well*.
"I know one day you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a sun...in somebody else's sky, but why oh why can't it be mine?"
Hits with the same kind of genuine heartbreak you hear in "The Love You Want," "Atlantic," and "Fall For Me" by Sleep Token.
"Black" is simply a stunning heartbreak of a song, beautiful no matter what version of it you watch (personal favourite is the live version from Pink Pop in '92). Not a bad song on the 1st album "Ten", from "Jeremy" (the official full video) and "Porch" (Again, the live at Pink Pop '92 version is fun) to "Garden", "Even Flow" and "Release" - i'd also recommend checking out stuff like "Wash", "State of Love and Trust", "Breath", "Indifference", "Rearviewmirror" from around the period of the 1st and 2nd albums (and from the 2nd) - there's a lot of later stuff that's awesome as well, and a great band to see live :)
You've opened a massive rabbithole into several bands, not just Pearl Jam...
This song was for Beth!
I will forever envy the crowd that got to watch this live. The power and emotion of the performance. I felt goosebumps here. I'd probably be hit with the holy spirit or some shit there.
My favorite song by Pearl Jam. Goosebumps every time.
still one of my favorite songs of all time, and one of the best performances ever! Honesty!
This is hands down the best unplugged performance I have ever heard.
I'm not even much of a Pearl Jam fan, but I have to agree.
That whole Unplugged concert is fucking amazing from start to finish. That one and Nirvana's Unplugged set will go down in history. Stripped down to a softer sound, it really amplified the emotion of the lyrics.

Most beautiful song ever written.. hearing it live is one of the greatest joys of life
I recommend pretty much everything on their first 3 albums and a whole lot more after that.
One of, if not the best, songs about a love lost and his performance here is perfection.
I agree with you. That was not a song. That was something from another world. Tears in my eyes as well.
"I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be the sun, in somebody else's skies, why, why, why can't it be, can't it be mine."
That part at the end of the song is one of my top 5 of written lyrics in any song I've heard, ever. So beautiful and poetic. Full of pain, heartache and love at the same time. Love this song.
I thought it was "I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky".
@@johnnydopeflow9965 you're right
I am usually a fan of studio versions/albums.
💔 Such a powerful song. Love this performance. MTV 7nplugged was so good.
A masterpiece froze in time on video. This performance tears me up. Eddie a soul brother surfer from San Diego county.
Please watch the whole set. It is one of the best live performances.
70's, 80's, 90's is where the greatest songs created...This song is also still on my playlist till now. 👍👍
MTV unplugged was perfect for grunge music. You can really hear the emotion that grunge music was based on. Any Pearl Jam song from their unplugged is a good listen. Also Alice n Chains, and Nirvana.
Down in a Hole just hits differently unplugged…. It’s incredible.
everytime i hear “ i know youll be a star in somebody elses sky, but whyy” i go fucking hollow
A journey.
It’s hard to believe he was actually sick when he did this it’s up there with the Alice In Chains unplugged absolutely raw and beautiful
That one lyric has resonated with me since I was a child...20 years later it still makes me tear up. I know someday you'll have a beautiful life I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky. But why can't it be me? Eddie was under appreciated as a poet.
Been waiting for you to discover this performance! Love your channel and reactions. Keep it up queen!
Thank you so much!!
Literally lived this song. Loved your pure reaction. Thank you.
Ok... Now do Alice in Chains live version of "love, hate, love" there's something about the grunge era live performances.
The live , normal show performance is better then this though
Here's the link for the show I'm referring to

The crowd singing was beautiful
It's 100x better if you grew up hearing these songs and they just sort of "sounded good" and then later in life you hear them again and actually listen and relate to them
“We belong,
“We belong,
“We belong together”
That’s for my mom and dad. 💔🌹
Crazy to think that this song came out a little over 30 years and I've listened to it literally thousands of times. This is the best version imo
