Na, everyone answers to the higher ups because they appoint the manager to play the football the club wants. If the higher ups think a player can still be useful the managers job is to make things work in the parameters that the director of football wants

Ideal would be CEO(Barrada), Sporting Director (TBA), Head of Recruitment (TBA), Manager (ETH?) working as a team and all 4 signatories required to sign a player etc.

Not really, United scouted Haaland and Bellingham before Dortmund.
Ole and his contacts were far better.
Ole knew Haaland because he was his manager. Ole brought Bellingham to Carrington to tour the facilities and even had him meet Sir Alex to try and get him to sign.
Ole was going to get Caceido for 4mil but the club said too much of a risk.
All of those players made the correct choice not coming to United because it wouldnt have helped their careers.

My problem with Ten Hag is in fact his decision making process. His dealing with Sancho I would put in the category of Man Management skills. Based on this case and what he had to deal with last year with Ronaldo do…..I don’t have a problem with his Man Management. I do have a problem with his decisions on play style or what system he is using at the club. To me his biggest mistake in in thinking and deciding to change things up from last year. United needed to retain what they had last year and add to it by addressing their biggest area of concern…..lack of goals and a top goal scorer.
Ten Hag has signals a change with his first two signings. Wrong decision as far as I’m concern. Ever time I watch this years Bayern Munich team I get sick knowing that Harry Kane and the CB , Kim min Jae , should be wearing United kit’s and running around old Trafford. Instead United have Onana, Mount and Hojlund running around the pitch. All due to Ten Hag wanted to play a different way from last year and Murtough’s incompetence in landing players that would help the team.
Murtough has to go and Ten Hag has to stay and fix the mess he’s needlessly created . And oh did I mention he’s now going to lose the new Goalkeeper for potentially 1 month or 6-7 games in January?

He has signed 3 players, ( in the back 6 positions) but Casemiro was definitely not his signing, but it's not one you say no to when Matic and Pogba have walked out on a free and you only have McFred.
Eriksen was only ever a short term fix.
Even now Martinez and Onana have only played 3 games together and Shaw was our one decent defender from what was there pre ETH who was comfortable - ish progressing the ball.
So how is he meant to play out like he wanted with what he currently ( not injured) has.
Let's not forget he wanted De Jong as his main midfield signing and not Casemiro
So I am happy to give him time cos it's a right mess on the injury front right now.

@@justme599 way too much emphasis on playing out from the back in today’s game. It’s another Pep thing every Manager is trying to emulate. When you think about it logically, you really wouldn’t want to play out from the back cause that means you’re messing around in your own half and the risk reward is way out of balance. I get that your GK shouldn’t just boot it down the pitch whenever it’s play his way but we’ve gone to the other extreme where playing out from the back is a thing. Personally I would want to have the ball spend as little time in my end of the pitch as possible. Even at full strength defensively with Shaw, Martinez and Wan Bissaka back, those are not guys all comfortable on the ball enough to play out with out risk. This is why to me Ten Hag getting Onana made no sense. Even if he’s the worlds greatest GK with his feet, he’s still got that United back line to pass to and that is not their strengths. If you watch Onana now, he spends a lot of time standing on the ball before eventually booting it down the pitch. What’s the point? Not to mention how slow of a tempo that does to a team. It’s a big mess from last year. To me just signing Kim for 50mil and signing Kane for 100-110 mil would have saved 20mil and they would have been better off.

No Blanc came in after the relegation and revolutionised the clubs business side to get them back to an Italian powerhouse. He was then promoted to President of Juventus but it didn’t work out as he’s not a football person he’s just a great businessman.
