Exactly man. So all those white pundits didn’t want to talk about it. What a bunch of pretenders
@@CreedeProductions The difference is the Argentine national team is made up of players of primarily Italian and Spanish immigrant backgrounds. Which is reflective of most of the Argentine population having Italian and Spanish backgrounds. The difference with the French team is they do not remotely reflect the population of France at all. 95% of the French population is White yet you’d never know that by watching their national team play. Only 3% of the French population is Black but they make up 90-95% of the national team. The Argentine players were bantering about the French team depending on Black players from their former colonies in Africa to actually compete and be competitive. Their banter is not unique to them at all. Africans are constantly bantering about the French team being an African team all the time. Go to a pick-up game with African guys and you’ll hear that type of talk commonly. Just like how the English and their media have mocked Irish national team sides for decades for being teams full of “Plastic Paddies.” People are conflating racism with banter. And the song in question has been around for years. Something the media don’t realize because most of the media reporting this story don’t even speak Spanish.

You know nothing about Argentina, you should keep your mouth shut then, or at least ask some Argentinian why that is. I’m gonna tell you why. We sing about everything non stop and we like to remember our victories. And the most important victory of Argentina was against France just two years ago. You are talking about something that happened two centuries ago, with people who built a country and populated an almost empty region. France is exploiting African countries' resources TODAY. Also, the chant is about France taking advantage of African talent to win games.
❌❌Loosely player nationality rules made it easy to France to win the World Cup & would make it easy to Qatar & Saudi Arabia in the future to buy & nationalize players to win big tournaments🤏
You, you are the hypocrite, the Italians and Spaniards who migrated to Argentina, did so as free men. France uses the children and grandchildren of slaves who were exploited in their homeland and in France. If you don't see the difference, you don't have a brain.

France plays with a lot of French players with african origins*. If you look at their trajectory, most of them were formed thanks to french clubs and infrastructures. It allowed them to join bigger club. So if they reached their level right now it is not because of their "african DNA" as you like to say. WHAT ABOUT APOLOGIES OF GRIEZMANN AND DEMEBLE AGAINST ASIANS? 😂😂
You can tell that bigotry is alive and well by the comments in this thread-- a load of dismissive, minimizing statements that reflect poorly on commenters' abilities to self-reflect
It shows a lack of empathy, unwillingness to hear others out, and a disinterest to care for the sensitivities of others. These Argentines aren't intellectually curious enough to ask why would this song be racist, even though clearly it's not a comment on immigration into France because no mention of Griezmann and Hernandez is in the song. They're sons of immigrants, too. But their Frenchness has not been questioned while the players of African descent are clear targets, especially the black ones. Their denials, deflections, disingenuous distortions are just troubling. Even educating them about this very talking point being used against players of African descent by the fascists in France, Le Pen and Front National doesn't give them pause and think should I be echoing the talking points fascists?

There are racist connotations to the chant. It's also casual racism hiding as "banter". The fact that the chant only targets ethnicity of black players is very telling. Griezmann has German and Portuguese ancestory, but not included in any chants. Theo Hernandez has Spanish ancestry, but not part of any chants. Cause they are white. actually it's the opposite 😅 the song mocks France for relying on African players because a French team without them would be extremely weak.
Im pretty sure if the French squad was made up of 90% Spanish or Portuguese players, similar comments would be made about how the French depend on foreign players for footballing success.
Also, The reason players like Griezmann and Theo Hernandez weren’t mentioned in the topic is because they are a minority in the squad. It is not uncommon to find few foreign players representing countries in which they didn’t originate from. Thats why you don’t see this song referring to other European counties who have black foreign players in their squad. It’s because its common and not unusual thing in the world. However , it is unusual though to have a squad that is 90% African representing a European nation that has 90% white french. Not that there is something wrong with it. lt just that its prone for people to point it out for any reason. Thats why its important to know the contexts before jumping into conclusions.

The rebuttal that I keep hearing is that France is a colonialist country. Anyone offering this assertion should remember that Argentina had a strong West African presence in past centuries. In the 18th century, some Argentinian cities were more than 50% African. By the 19th century, the West African descendants in Buenos Aires were about 30%. The reason that Argentina is so European today is because of policies that promoted European immigration, such as from countries like Italy and Spain, at the expense of West African development across its provinces. I'd almost forgotten that in 1997, Former Argentine President Carlos Menem once stated, “In Argentina, Blacks do not exist; that is a Brazilian problem.” All of a sudden, the players' chants make sense!
