  • A leaking dishwasher doesn't just prevent your dishes from coming clean, but it can end up leaving a huge mess on your floor as well. Luckily, in this video Steve will take you through some of the common parts that can cause your dishwasher to leak, so you can figure out what's wrong with your dishwasher, and get it back in working order!
Click the links that appear on the screen during this video, or in the description below for a step-by-step guide to replacing each of these offending parts.
Here are the most common parts that could be malfunction and result in a leaking dishwasher:
    DOOR GASKET (0:06)
The door gasket runs around the circumference of the dishwasher door, and if it is loose, torn, or damaged, it can cause water to leak out when the dishwasher is filled. Check out this video to see how to replace a damaged door gasket: • Whirlpool Dishwasher R...
    PUMP SEALS (1:06)
If the seal between the motor of the pump body has gone bad it can create a leak. If you notice water underneath the dishwasher, the pump seal should be inspected. If you need to replace the pump, here's a video that may help: • GE Dishwasher Repair -...
    INLET VALVE/HOSE (1:48)
This is a good part to inspect if your dishwasher is only leaking while it is filling. You'll want to inspect the valve itself, as well as the hose and the associated clamps. Need to replace your inlet valve? Here's a video to help you out: • Whirlpool Dishwasher R...
    SPRAY ARM (2:28)
These are usually made of in two parts with a welded seam in the middle. A cracked seam can cause the spray pattern to aim at the bottom of the door where there's no tight seal. If you need to replace the spray arm, this video might help: • Dishwasher Repair - Re...
    FLOAT SWITCH (3:09)
A faulty float switch will prevent the dishwasher from regulating the amount of water that enters it, and this can result in a leak. In this case, you will need to check it for continuity with a multimeter (here's how to do that: • Appliance Repair: How ... ). To replace the float switch altogether, give this video a try: • Dishwasher Repair - Re...
    DRAIN HOSE(3:44)
A leak in the drain hose is most commonly found where it connects with the drain pump. Inspect it for damage and replace it if necessary. Here's a video to help with that: • Dishwasher Repair - Re...

Thank you so much for the video. I have diagnosed my issue to be the pump. I removed the motor and checked for any kinks or warn out pieces and found none. When i reconnect everything, the leak continues but it keeps leaking out of the motor itself. PLEASE HELP!
i am not sure if i have to replace the entire pump/motor or just need to keep fishing for the problem. Its a 10 yr old Frigidaire Gallery Dishwasher - i saw your other video about the common issues and you nailed my problem. Just cant figure out how to fix it or what to replace before i spend more $ than a new dishwasher.
thanks again for your hard work

Good video, but missed the simplest of causes. Loose screws on the inside of the door.

My whirlpool dishwasher leaks at lower right corner and at float after DW running for about half hour. I changed the float switch but DW still leak. At this moment I put two chopping boards between the door and lower rack, the leaking stops for now. I am going to bring GoPro to check. My assumption is the lower spray arm or lower seal might be not good. How do you think?

Could you elaborate on the float switch assembly please? @ 3:20 "If you verify that the float rises and lowers without any restrictions, you may have a defective float switch..." and @ 3:39 "If the float does not move freely, you'll need to replace the complete float assembly..." So should the float assembly move freely (i.e., without any restrictions) or not?

@@joelsch8627 I think the idea here is that the water filling the tub makes the plastic portion float upward until the switch is tripped, shutting off the water at a specific water level. If the thing can't rise freely, the switch will never get tripped, and the water won't get turned off. So yes, it should be able to move upward without obstructions. When I push mine upward, I can actually hear the switch being pressed.

@@jshariff786 i just checked again and my plastic round piece is loosse and just slides up freely til it reaches the stop. i do not hear, nor able to feel any kind of a switch being pressed.. hmmm
