    My Whirlpool dw was leaking out the door, but not consistently-only during certain cycles. The repairman replaced the door seal, and it still leaked. Finally, he had to put a special clear door on it to see that the bottom spray arm was getting caught on the bottom rack and squirting high pressured water up along the door seals during a certain cycle. He replaced the bottom spray arm and it fixed the problem.

      Thank you .. Got it back together following your instructions and using a socket to smash it down in there , I did coat the new rubber seal with a plumbers grease I found . Running the dishwasher for a 2nd time now no drips so far. The prev leak damaged my cabinetry around the dishwasher so I'm going to buy a dishwasher pan at Home Depot for $20 tomorrow as additional protection This allows water to drain out the front if water is leaking and has a lip on the 3 sides to protect leaking in the back and sides seems well worth it

    I am taking mine apart for the third time, it continues to leak. The second time I wrapped it 4 or 5 times with white plummers tape but no luck. This time I am using blue monster thread tape, it is thicker than the white stuff. I am keeping my fingers crossed!

      The repair guy had to come back again because after he replaced what i had already done, it continued to leak. So he pulled the entire unit out, layed it on its side and took the lower assembly out and dismantled it. There he found a tiny piece of clear broken plastic, about 1/2" by 1/4" that was lodged in the assembly. He gave me the piece and said he thought that was the issue. He was correct, it has not leaked since. Good luck with yours, i hope you can get it resolved. @@darryl2366

    Note: the grommet/seal not only has a little spring around the inside rubber center (to allow the grommet to fit the white plastic motor shaft more snuggly, but the outer diameter of the grommet is actually a coating for an internal metal "cup." That's why the outside diameter of the grommet feels harder than the soft rubber inner diameter. (completely coated by the grommet itself). So, when you are trying to remove the old degraded grommet and are scraping away at it to try to pry it out of there, you might actually scrape the soft rubber center of the grommet out, but leave the metal cup. The metal cup needs to be removed. The cup is part of the old grommet, coated with rubber. I had to use a tiny needle-nose pliers to pull it out, because the outer rubber coating kept it wedged in the hole where it's seated.

    Before I order this gasket, I I’m under this machine listening to a loud clicking noise while that thing is leaking. I’m wondering if that’s the diverter motor?

    • @QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance

      Maybe the motor can’t turn.

    • @pshnazzle
      @pshnazzle 9 місяців тому

      I just looked it up and I don’t know if that rubber seal is available by itself. The motor is $110. Washer is 7 yrs old. Not sure if I want to spend 110 on a 7 yr old machine or put towards a new machine anyway! 🤦🏼‍♂️

  • @franklina8814
    @franklina8814 2 роки тому +3

    So I replaced the seal and the leaking slowed, but still leaking. I can see the leak comes from 2 seperate points under the machine, both from the divertor motor. What should I do? Also, looks like a small coil ring came out when I took the old seal out?

    • @QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance
      @QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance  2 роки тому

      Hi Franklin,
      Sounds like you did everything right.
      That ring is just a spring that was part of the old seal.
      I think if you’re willing to repeat the process a second time you’ll be able to get that leak to stop.
      Some people have been adding a little bit of silicone grease to the inside of that seal and they said that does help to reduce any small drips.

    • @franklina8814
      @franklina8814 2 роки тому

      I did repeat with lube and still leaking. Is it possible that i need to order and replace the entire diverter part?

    • @franklina8814
      @franklina8814 2 роки тому

      OR should i order a new seal that is slightly bigger so it is more snug?
      Lastly, would the sump need replacement? Id rather not disconnect everything for that repair.
      Happy to donate to your paypal if we can get this resolved!
