LEAVE IT ALL TO ME. For too long, the dark story of Nora Dershlit has existed in the shadows, a chilling cautionary tale about the dangers of idolizing celebrities a little too much. Today, I pull back the curtain on this deeply disturbed individual. It started innocently enough - just a young girl who really, really loved the web show iCarly -- but Nora's adoration mutated into something much more sinister.
Nora is a chilling embodiment of what can happen when fandom devolves into dangerous, uncontrolled mania. Her cautionary story of obsession, mental illness and depravity must serve as a stark warning about the potential horrors that could be unleashed when someone loses their grip on reality. I'll also talk about how she may have been inspired by another crazed fan character: Annie Wilkes from Stephen King's Misery, and how iCarly predicted future staples of the internet video industry. For internet creators, Nora is just one of many fears we hope to NEVER see come to fruition...

people in the comments being like "now this is a good April fool's joke" this is the most serious video ever, Nora Derschlit was TERRIFYING
Huh lmaoooo lol
A good joke is a joke that unironically slaps even with context
Use that info how you will, I just don't want to type out an essay on here so that's the tl/dr
Yeah but I'd still smash
There are crazy fans like that that exist too.
Thank you! She even literally kidnaps them! I grew up watching iCarly and people do not understand that even in that silly show shot was serious when she was in the episode
People say "April Fools" but this girl literally kidnapped the iCarly crew twice and even put Spencer on a wheel of death. Shes a crazy B!
I agree, I swear if this show wasn't meant for kids, she would have been way worse!
She also kidnapped Cat Valentine during the events of Sam & Cat (she trapped her into the bottom of a well along with a 12 year old child)
@@olicityfan1150it's a good warning though for aspiring actors and celebrities, there are REAL and I mean REAL mentally ill indivuals that aren't right in the head and they will hurt, kill, and stalk famous people with deluded intentions. These episodes were the kid friendly version of showcasing that.
Oh boohoo

Well it's not difficult. They had two I psycho specials then Sam and cat episode with Nora and Nevel papperman also made cameos
Edit: plus in the iCarly revival. She just non chalantly shows up at skybucks.
Got to space out the details and not make it too straight forward like a school essay for that
Sorry I ruined the 666 likes

Honestly, it's nice Nora is doing better mentally in the reboot. Def a weirdo still but not a full-on criminal anymore

@@CZsWorldI’ve never really watched ICarly or Drake and Josh but I agree, that’s what she wants you to think.
The soundproof booth having both a deadbolt lock on the door, as well as a small sliding door opening, makes me think her parents were always psycho as well.
Huh, as a kid I thought her parents would trap her in there.
I’m the second I psycho episode they were very supportive of her psychopathic tendencies
Don't forget maxiglass aka the bulletproof glass window.

I'll be honest the I physcho specials with her scared me as a kid like someone who was obsessed to the point of trapping them in a basement then having Spencer on a spinning wheel for hours gawd thats terrifying
It was played for comedy but man, that ep kinda highlighted the dark side of fame: having stalkers
💯Me too
Dude i would get hotflashes from being so scared of her, like my forehead would sweat thinking about her getting me
The part about nora being blindfolded instead of icarly crews who put donkey tails on her just feels like a typical dan schneider freaky stuff
EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGH 😒😒😒
Exactly. And it's crazy how he had Carly dance with an 87 year old.
People can get away with so much if they just say they’re comedians and it’s all for fun. Or in the cases of these shows add a laugh track 😬
NOOO
Exactly
you know what's truly terrifying about Nora is that her behavior isn't even that much of an exaggeration. People in real life take their parasocial relationships to psychotic extremes.
Thank you for addressing Jannette in a very kind way. She is a sweet woman who had to grow up because almost every grown person around her failed to protect her
At least Jerry Trainor did everything he could to protect everyone, including her.
*Jennette, just correcting the name but agreed, she is really great.
At least she didn't end up playing "boardgames" with Tom Hanks...
For real life.
How sweet? I heard she seems to resent her fans and the fact that they only know her from iCarly. Conversely, Jason David Frank treats his fan with respect even if they only know him as the Green Ranger.
Jokes aside, mad props to the actress for her eye acting! Nora is all smiles while her eyes are always vacant, which makes her look terrifying even in first glance
Not going to lie, the butter-sock can be a real life weapon. Frozen butter can be as hard as concrete, same as long-frozen milk, and if thrown or hit hard enough, can do some MASSIVE damage.

Yeah, I grew up watching alot of shows on Nick in the 90's and early 2000's and alot of the stuff coming out about what was going on behind the scenes makes me sick to my stomach. What makes it worse is going back and seeing some of those old shows and promos, you see things differently and wonder if some of it was red flags that made it on air, especially the weird obsession with feet.

In the birthday part when the grandpa has a aneurism and he says, “he fucking dies” got me on the floor💀
It wasnt the grandpa it was a clown who danced with Carly and Sam while he died....
It goes without saying that Nora is without a doubt one of the most evil villains within the Icarly universe. Next to Nevel that is, In fact it still amazes me that we never got an episode where Nora and Nevel teamed up to get revenge on the Icarly gang.
We sorta did in Sam & Cat...there's an episode thats a fucking Silence Of The Lambs parody with both Nora and Nevel
@@vinyllp9963 Yes I remember that episode. However Nora and Nevel didn't exactly "team up" in that episode.
For real life.
Nora Derschlit's character was unironically ahead of her time
i love that fact that the girl Nora kissed was Trina from victorious
yes
Schneider’s shows are very incestuous (forgive me for using it I just couldn't think of a better word). Many of the actors from his shows appear in his other ones. Carly’s actress played Drake and Josh’s little sister Megan and Sam & Cat is a crossover between some of his biggest shows - Victorious and ICarly.
Which funny enough also has some specks of celebrity worship
There’s actually a Hannibal Lecture reference in Sam & Cat with Nevel!
I can’t remember why they visited him but I do understand it now.
“Hannibal Lecture” is something I would love to attend.
They visited him so he could help them find Dice. Is it sad that I know that?
@@Lutherstrode17492 no, I love iCarly and the other shows! Just haven’t seen them in while
Bro that reference was fucking awesome
Why doesn’t he point it out?
30:31 Nora pulled a trick right from Ted Bundy and her represents Ted’s car that’s actually terrifying
Can’t believe the writers went that far to reference Bundy of all people 💀
You’re technically right but also not so much since that scene was more of a reference to the scene where Buffalo Bill kidnaps Catherine in Silence of the Lambs, which the entire episode references. Although the Silence writters did pull inspiration from Ted Bundy from that scene
Actually that episode was a reference to silence of the lambs lmao
As for why Nora didn’t attack Gibby, it’s possible she realized that attacking him in the middle of the movie theatre would be a bad idea, and decided to deal with him later, after she dealt with Sam and the others.
Gibby fighting her and guppy being there was my most favorite moment ever 😂
Love this episode tbh also it’s hilarious he points out Stephen King references in the first two Nora episodes but completely overlooked the Silence of the Lambs references in the Sam and Cat episode
Gotta love these April fools horror history videos they are something else than what we are used to seeing on the channel and I love it
Nora Dershlit is the kid friendly version of Annie Wilkes from Misery.
in fact, it wouldn't surprise me if one of the writers was a Stephen King fan and wrote this episode based on Misery.
I think we know what Dan Schneider’s favorite Stephen king moment is. I’ll give you a hint: it involves the ending of It

Thanks! This helped start my April 1st off well. Glad you included the scenes about the Butter Sock.

That picture of you and James from Deadmeat is awesome. He mentioned you in a recent Stream he did. Just about how you talked about a certain character or movie I think. Glad to see you short kings stick together though.
I wasn’t really expecting an iCarly video, especially during the fallout of quiet of set, but this is amazing
We’ve known all that stuff for like a decade now
@@goldenfiberwheat238Fr not really surprising
@@Annabellethedoll666honestly, also I think it’s so disrespectful that people speculate about what stars were abused on set and want them to talk about their abuse

@@KatalinaAudios444 I 100% agree for the past few weeks they’ve been on the cast of victorious, icarly, Zoey 101, etc instagram and twitter trying to force them to speak up. It’s gotten so bad that it seems like they don’t even truly care about their mental health, they just want entertainment. I can’t imagine how triggering it must be for the celebs.
I don't even think this is an April Fool's video. Why?
1. He did videos on Chuck E. Cheese, Ronald McDonald, and Grimace.
2. Nora is the subject of two horror movie parodies (Misery and The Silence of the Lambs).
3. "These are the eyes... of a psychopath." - Dr. Samuel Loomis, Halloween (2007)

I know this is meant to be a joke. But you should totally do a Horror History on Creep Connie from Jessie. One on Nevel Papperman would also be nice too.
I vaguely remember an episode of Jessie had Creppy Connie trying to *burn* Luke to death with a blowtorch

Was he making an only fans joke?
I watch another icarly documentary that said the gibby stunt double hurt himself really bad on that fall from the ceiling. And you show the clip. I need to watch the whole video before I comment lol.
I know this is an April fools joke but as someone who watched a lot of Nickelodeon, and then aged out of it when shows like this came out…
the cringe and innuendo in iCarly, Victorious, Sam and Cat etc are still horror in my mind 😂
Funny that this comes around after the "Quiet On Set" series 💀
I love that you mentioned the real life horrors so respectfully, great video! I always have a good day when you upload 😁✨
That thumbnail is the most terrifying imagine on ANY Horror History video!
Would love to see the actress interviewed to get her thoughts on playing such a villain character
I think Nora also didn’t mess with Gibby after escaping prison because he gave her the info she wanted
How this man managed to get me interested in an icarly review of the maniac stalker is astounding. Not for nothing, this was great. You’re an in-depth reviewer you keep me interested in something IM NOT INTERESTED IN and made me curious. This was really good and I am absolutely going to keep watching you
I'll be honest, the fact that you could get some information from the show, respect. That is awesome.❤
Amazing video. You forgot to mention the callback to the basement of the killer in the Silence of the lambs. The well, the rope, taking the animal as a captive to escape, and more
Now this. THIS is the quality content I’ve been searching for
Me with BPD always seeing people like me as villains has made me think so much about how I act lol. It's a weird feeling.
I respect u more because of this video. Like seriously lol this is so niche, hyper-analytic, nostalgic, self-aware, funny, unexpected, and I loooved Icarly. You see me, and thus you free me ❤️
I like how he did a video, though on one of the darkest iCarly episodes, especially now with the quiet onset hype
My favorite part of the butter sock is that it was full of batteries.
Wow... never realized how deep icarly is!!! this is one of my sister's favorite shows. She was the one who told me about all the badtime stuff. Loving the channel!!!

This is the first ever CZS video that I’m on time to!! 😵🥳
CZ you are so brave for uploading this !
Horror History episode on Nickelodeon? 🤔 And honestly I think Dan Schneider and Brian Peck need their own episodes. You don't get much scarier than real world horror
How about a Horror History episode about John Kricfalusi
I know this was for April fools and all but it is interesting with the Quiet on Set Documentary coming out recently. This has nothing to do with it but some of the sexual assault jokes are a little odd now knowing some of what actually happened behind the scenes of many Nickelodeon shows.
People been calling the sexual jokes out before quiet on set happened
@@Annabellethedoll666 true but now I think a lot more people are aware of just how messed up many of the executives and adults in charge on set were. iCarly only came out just after I was born so I only started to understand the jokes within in the past few years. I think it’s that way for a lot of people and that’s why this documentary is so important, it’s a warning about what can occur if laws and rules aren’t set in place to protect young actors and crew members.
hi czsworld i love ur channel
My farts are better than CZsworld’s farts 💨
Thanks for the cameo. This is the content we need. Please, do one on Hey Arnold next. That show was darker than people remember. A Vietnam episode? An episode where a homeless (possibly mentally ill) man jumps off a roof? It's ripe for the picking.
When is the cameo
Please do a Ren and Stimpy one
I saw that episode when it aird, it was wild. It felt so real because people like that really do exist and the actress perfectly embodied them.
If this is a rabbit hole you are going down i would absolutely love to see a deep horror timeline on Creepy Connie from Jessie. She is such an interesting character.
Random weird fact: my childhood best friend moved away to TN in the mid 2000s and told me she’s friends with this chick’s younger sister. She showed me pics of them and their Facebook pages. She was a micro celebrity in their community I guess for being on iCarly 😂
Been waiting for this for a min thanks bro
Huh, I definitely didn't realize this was meant to be an April fools day joke until you mentioned it. Seemed horrific to me.
I’m pretty sure that the bit with Nora having Gibby in a well and making him put conditioner in his hair so she can shave it is a reference to Buffalo Bill in The Silence of the Lambs
As someone with BPD, I think Nora fits that a lot more than rapid-cycling bipolar. BPD would also account for her loneliness, extreme clinginess, massive shifts between adoring at hating someone, instability of interpersonal relationships etc
Not every person who has bpd is gonna act the same, everyone is diff and there is also, more types of bpd, like the quiet one
@@andreealupu4991 I love how you think I'm making a serious attempt to diagnose an iCarly character.
Also, da fuq do you mean "quiet one"?
Hopefully, Dan Schneider and Brian Peck both get a Horror History next.
factssss
I only remember one crazy Bwitch from this show . Carly's teacher that hooked up with Spencer . I never knew the show was still going for that long .
Covering horror history on a character from a sitcom ( a comedy ) and not a horror show or horror film this time. That's actually quite surprising. You usually do horror history with something that's in a horror film or horror show but covering horror history on a character that's from a comedic sitcom is a new spin on things. I can dig it.
The 40 minute well edited April Fool’s joke is wild
Fr surprisingly i got more invested into it and want more of it
I thoroughly enjoy CZ's April 1st videos 😊
The fact this character kept having a pressence after OG iCarly is definitely the bit that makes this really disturbing because it makes you wonder how long were they planning to keep her story going.
Is it just me that I would love to see more iCary horror history.
This was AWESOME! Good job!
Can't believe ICarly predicted the existance of Swifties.
Her dad was played by Charlie’s uncle from Always Sunny, she went to Ponderosa high school and had a chicken named Maurise (close to Maurine). It’s canon iCarly is a part of Always Sunny
rewatching this episode as an adult is crazy dont think nickelodeon would get away with making an episode of a show like this today
I think that the discrepencies with Carly's recollection about her father being in the airforce and in a submarine could be because he could be a part of the Navy that does fly airplanes. Naval Aviation is a thing so might have had to go to a station via submarine to fly?
This was one of the wildest videos I’ve ever watched, well done good sir.
icarly was one of my favourite nickelodeon shows during my childhood and nora really scared me as a kid 😭 i was always worried that she was gonna kill the icarly crew everytime she appeared in an episode.
Nothing beats horror references in kids programming. Then years later when you start watching horror movies and you’ve just come to a horrific realization about your childhood shows.
As someone with bipolar I disagree lol even rapid cycling episodes last significantly longer.. BPD might be more likely because they experience faster mood swings and have an extreme fear of abandonment which is exhibited here
I find it funny that these episodes of Icarly taught people that you should bully people with mental disabilities ESPECIALLY if they look different. The best piece of irony is the fact that Dan Schneider made this, like his diabetic ass isn’t all of those in a nutshell
No
32:11 Nora straight up sounded like William Afton's "I always come back" lol
How crow, hey CZ, in Victorious, do you think that Robbie's puppet, Rex, was actually alive the entire time? There's a crap ton of moments where Robbie doesn't even move his tongue or lips to make Rex talk. Yet Rex sounds so fluent even without the handler's expression.

For something that was supposed to be an April fools joke, this girl (and just early 2000s Nickelodeon in general) was a true horror IRL. 😭
Also: Am I the only one (even when watching this way back when it came out) noticed that the girl Nora kissed is Daniella Monet (Trina from Victorious?)
Its wild you would upload this video about iCarly 🐢
I’ve been waiting for this 😌
What if Nora’s parents locked her in the recording booth when they didn’t want to deal with her? It might’ve given her the impression that it was justified to confine loved ones/people you care about to suit your own interests. Eventually they couldn’t physically restrain her anymore, so they resorted to running away themselves when she was likely to upset/unmanageable. It’d also explain the questionable addition to what is meant to be a professional recording studio, that being a lock on the outside and the slot to allow for food and water to be passed through.
