- Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2 recently released a brand new trailer that showcased new enemies, bosses, a PvE coop Operations mode, multiplayer PvP, and a whole host of new customization options. As a life long Warhammer fan, (now 32) I am beyond excited for this. The first game was one of the best Warhammer games ever. And I've always wanted to see a more accurate representation of how insane and brutal the warfare is in Warhammer. Even tho games like Dawn of War and Warhammer Inquisitor Martyr get it right for the most part, they lacked that close up in the action feel. Couple that with all the badass Warhammer cosmetics and you got a winner here. I hope it puts 40k in the mainstream spotlight even more so we continue to keep getting high budget titles in the videogame category.
Also the monetisation method they seem to be going with is the most consumer friendly. All maps, weapons, and modes will be free but the battle pass will have tons of cosmetics. I don't mind paying extra to look cool so long as everyone is on a even playing field, we aren't artificially locked out of content, and the grind isn't focused around playing 50 hours just to unlock a blue shoulder pad.

Just played this for the first time on Steam Deck. Runs 90FPS solid on the OLED model. Fantastic game!! Can't wait for this new one now.

@@lawlinyourface What you mean by which? I finished the Space Marine 2011 and now I'm playing Boltgun on the deck, it is a side story that intertwines with the events from the Space Marine game. Seemed like a fun follow up! Check it out.

you missed Titus' arc of being in the Deathwatch as a Black Shield before coming back to the chapter =3
I’m really hoping that the various chaos marines aren’t only playable in the 6v6 mode, and their all customization pieces you can unlock and use in the 3 player coop mode too on your custom space marine.
I’m also hoping to see customization for the Grey Knight too, love those guys.
We just want a Grey Knight game in this format lol.
They said customization will be available for everything except for story campaign. So we’re good!

maybe as a dlc, which could add grey knights, deathwatch, and possessed for chaos, maybe terminators down the line

Honestly one of the main things I'm liking about what I see is that this just feels like a 360 era game. I miss the art of just making a shooter with a good campaign and putting in a simple multiplayer mode that doesn't need like 10 billion different franchise crossovers with all of these seasons of lame battle passes and microtransactions, lmao.

Spot on video. Didn’t notice gun XP even after watching the trailer multiple times. And yes, it has to be solid at launch. For that reason I am so scared to pre order despite wanting all the cosmetics
When the first trailer came out and I saw Saber Interactive was making it, I got even more excited. What they did with WWZ was simply fun. Gunplay was nice and you felt the horde when it came at you. Now imagine 40k and this is what you get. Just over 3 months to go to play this bad boy. Hell yeah.

I'm curious about my solo options, or is gearing and levelling up restrictive to just multiplying, or do solo players just have it's campaign to tinker with, pretty excited for it, I'd like to know more info on the solo side of things

In the shot with the TS Helbrute, the player model was an imperial fist, so i think that might be in the non campaign mode.
Yeah you might be right on that one. Chaos is supposed to be a big threat in the story so we'll likely see it there as well

They need to make a Space Marine Helldivers standalone game mode. Like Warzone with COD. I just want to play the Helldivers 2 gameplay loop in the 40K setting so very much

First game had blocking and timed parrys, and this game seems to have massively improved combat fluidity, so I think it's safe to assume melee combat will have counterplay this time around
As someone that just discovered ASTARTES last week I’ve been consuming alot of warhammer lore and my mind is blown. But im sad to see that there’s no content like astartes anywhere. But this game looks like what i was looking for. Gone look for the first game on steam
the reason for that is that Games workshop destoryed the fanworks some years ago too promote there lackluster warhammerstreamingservice. And stay to the old books after there deal with Amazon they redcon there whole lore right now for "wokereasons" its a real shitstorm right now.

I think they have said there is a cosmetics shop. I hope not. It would just be nice to have a game where ALL content is just gotten via unlocks for doing stuff in game. Like remember playing games and unlocking characters and alternative costumes for being good at the game, and putting in the effort to get good. Unisoft and EA can go eat a back of Duck 🦆

I hope they do unlocks & monetized DLC similarly to helldivers, with the bulk of unlocks being acquired through game time and purchases allowing access to either specific items or a small set of newly unlockable items. being able to accrue premium game currency in game is cool as well. i dont hope for 1-1 but i liked aspects of HD2 approach, mainly i hope most stuff can be had without microtransactions.

It seems all these delays of Space Marine 2 release were really for its good. Game looks incredible and so does the huge ammount of weapons and customization options! Oh and adding 3 men coop is trully Emperor's blessing. I love coop to death (Left 4 Dead, Dying Light etc) and Space Marine 2 seems as the perfect game to include coop. But that's not all, right? Even the PvP sounds interesting and is something that has huge potential to prolong the longevity of this game. Anyway, glory to the Emperor!

It is if you played and enjoyed the first game for its campaign, I personally have replayed it many times (I am on PC though so it looks decent to this day)

concerned by the price point, and the "GOLD" and "ULTRA" editions, looks like its going down the route of excessing monitization. Looks good but im already priced out.
Edit: after having some people with reading comprehension issues respond, I was talking about that my concern was from BEFORE they announced the PVP multiplayer, because before then the only thing they'd talked about was PVE co op and the story mode. My concerns were alleviated by these trailers.
*OG comment:* my main disappointment with what I'd seen so far was that it seemed there was no pvp multiplayer. The fact that they just showed off how *it* (read: the PVP multiplayer) was getting a much more robust update absolutely has me psyked for this game.
There was a pvp trailer. In the stream, it was separated from the main trailer for some reason.

There is a multiplayer trailer that was announced during the stream. The devs will also be putting out monthly dev notes to update players on what to expect coming up until launch

Ashely cooper hasn’t been working at saber or on space marine 2 as of 2022 so it should be fine, that’s probably what the delay was all about

You probably shouldn't try to compare this to Darktide which made the bold claim of wanting to be a live service game. As I see it this game is more likely to have maybe dlc expansions in a very typical release fashion. Somewhere maybe 6-8 months out from release, outside of maybe cosmetics being the most common dlc we'll see in between.
Agreed but also look at how long any sort of meaningful updates happened with Darktide. That's probably the same pace this will take but if there is substantially more here at launch, it could have a higher staying power in our opinion.

I wish my boyz the orks would get a good game. A looter shooter would be perfect for them. A size rank system, a big mek to make your shootas more killy for the right teef. It's all I can ask other than the orks being cannon fodder for space marines all the time. Still though apace marine looks cool and I can't wait to play it.
Agreed, would love more games that let you play as other races. Tau, Eldar, Orks, etc
@LegacyGamingUS it could be called "ORK" and the player will have to start as a lowly boy finding bigger and funner fights to reach a warboss level size. The big mek will buy and sell shootas and armor and upgrade equipment, which the player will pay for using teef and scrap. He could probably visit the runt herd to buy a gretchin to hold an extra gun or an attack squig. Whether or not vehicles like wagons, attack bikes, and deff dredds can be commandeered would be up for debate.
If it lets me play a Death Guard, I'll play, if not then I won't.
