Hi! My name is Leonie and I am a 23 year old girl who loves talking about books! From YA to non-fiction to classics, I read it all (although fantasy will always be my fave). I live in the Netherlands and go to university, but make booktube videos in my spare time :)

you pavloving yourself into being sleepy when you read is so funny lol
not something i expected to learn about myself during this readathon hahaha
A great tip: Whenever I'm introduced to a new character, I write they're names and a little bit about them (like who they are related to) in one of the empty pages in the back of the book. This helps soooo much!
the dune movie is only the first half of the book, so it should be very detailed!! they are planning two movies :-)
Interesting, and I guess if they do well they'll continue with the other 5 books
Dune movie international trailer is out now 😊
@@xcsbooknook just the 2nd book 'Dune Messiah' the director said.
'Dune Messiah' is way shorter and wraps-up the story of the main character. Dune has a very cut-edged almost rushed ending, but 'Dune Messiah' (the 2nd book) works like a Part IV of Dune (Dune is divided in 3 parts) .... although the 1st and future 2nd films cover the 3 Parts... I know, confusing.
Anyway it'd be great to sea an adaptation of God-Emperor of Dune but it'd have to be by a very talented artistic director, like the current one.
I love that you’re the one book youtuber that’s so my mood lol. You’re like I love books I’ll read em but hey I have my life and I can’t read so many books all the time.
I love listening to you talk about everything and I’m like yes this is me too and I don’t have to feel bad about it.
I dunno if I’m making sense or not lol but this is in general. I love your videos
every time leo posts a 24 hour reading vlog i get ptsd from her not finishing the priory lol
same, same
thats too extreme
How to get over a reading slump: Watch leos videos and get really inspired.
I normally only listen along to a novel’s audiobook while I read, but listening to entire symphonies have helped in the past when it comes to studying. They’re usually 45 minutes to an hour (about as long as my attention span), and they’re only instrumental, normally. Best of luck on all your future reading goals!
Not in the mood to read a book for a month now, hope this gives me motivation😭
don't worry, take it easy :)
i also just started reading dune! we are on the same frequency lol ✨
also, the movie (coming out in Oct) covers the first half of the book. there'll be two movies based on the book.
i'm really interested in seeing how they're going to split the movie in two since i feel that the story doesn't really start until halfway through haha
@@TheBookLeo hearing they’re splitting this into two parts actually crushed my hopes of enjoying this movie, since I felt the same way, I didn’t find it interesting at all until maybe the last 50 pages. and then it ended 😂
I started reading Shadow and Bone JUST so i could watch your shadow and bone reading vlog without worrying about spoilers...i mean, if that ain't dedication? Idk what is :D
damn that's some dedication, love it!

I read that same edition of Dune last year :) For excellent companion material that will help you consolidate (and appreciate!) the Dune world even more, I highly recommend checking out Quinn's Ideas here on UA-cam. He's got dozens of Dune lore videos, including detailed synopses of each book (so watch those when you have finished to avoid spoilers). It will help so much, and you will be BLOWN AWAY by the depth and enormity of Herbert's vision. Happy reading!
listening to the multi-cast audiobook of Dune had elevated my experience to a wonderful level. The different voices associated to the different characters really help with knowing who is who (even though the multicast only narrated few sections of the book not all of it, but still it helped bcz i recall their voices immediately after hearing their names).
So if you read this before finishing Dune try introducing the audiobook into what is left of the book (especially when you feel too groggy to focus).
Frank Herbert took his sweet time for world building and I loved every second of it. The whole 200 pages lol
ahh the video is amazing 😍 also I love your room so so much!!
thank you
I liked the "stormy" weather. It is the perfect setting for spending time inside reading. Likewise, stormy weather reminds me of the horror movies I watched as a child where the setting of the movie was usually a dark rainy night in an old castle with a creepy count, beautiful daughter, limping servant.....etc... My imagination and senses just "light up" at such times. I really like your channel.

Gideon the Ninth is a SciFi that feels like a fantasy! I'm not normally a huge SciFi fan and Gideon the Ninth is one of my favorites!
I'm reading it right now! Definitely is a sci-fi that feels like fantasy.
Love the lightning and thunder---ahhhhhh! Perfect reading weather 😊🔮💖
OMG DUNE IS SO AMAZING! I'm currently reading Herectics of Dune, the 5th book in the series, and LOVING IT!
I got very excited when I saw Dune, it's even the same cover that I have. Me and a friend read it last year ahead of the movie coming out 😄
Love these reading day videos. There are a lot of interesting things going on in Dune. Particularly how the chosen one trope is played with IN the book's universe.
I feel you,, English is not my main language and whenever I read in English I could spend the hole day reading and only get through 100 pages ^^ Also I have the first book of Dune in my TBR you reminded me that I really want to read it !
I also am doing a readathon! Not a 24 hour, but, it's kinda like a sprint of "I want to read this book this weekend" kind of thing. Honestly, until I found this video, I didn't even know there was readathons. I started reading the first volume on the Incarnate trilogy, and it's been a while since the last time I read a book so fast like this. haha
This video just made me inspired to keep reading xD
There iz this dune reading soundtrack on Spotify that is just AMAZING! And its all instrumental I think you would enjoy it.
oh i didn't know thanks im gonna look at it!
you have the prettiest reading vlogs
Me: :(
Leonie: uploads video
Me: :)
Dune is incredible. I am re-reading it. There is so much there. True sci-fi fashion, it gives you more each time you read
I have a playlist of instrumental music to read to that I started a year ago and just keep adding to as I hear great pieces of music... it's over 24 hours long now...
hahaha you could do a full 24 hour readathon with it!
I think you would absolutely love the Red Rising series.
I love listening to soundtracks while I’m reading or doing school work!
8:18 I cant stop admiring your expressions ❤🤣
I saw the movie yesterday and I am obsessed, I think I'll go and watch it again soon and I kinda wanna pick up the book although the thought of it absolutely terrifies me
@anor27 I started it literally a day after I posted the comment and although I haven't finished it yet I'm still very much agreeing with you
I tried to do a 24 hours reading, but when was 3 am I slept lol
wow, I love your reading vlogs so much that I literally am rewatching them right now at work, bc they just make me feel so warm and cozy... nothing is so comforting as your videos!
I am actually reading Dune myself now, and AFTER the movie it goes reaaaally well, and even kinda slow parts are indeed very much enjoyable. also after the movie I understand many things better, so I suppose it is that rare moment when it's better to watch ecranisation first 😅 well, works for me perfectly at least
Great video as per usual, The vibe is immaculate 🥰✨ I've also been meaning to read dune, so I'll be sure not to look at the synopsis lmao 😂
thank you! and i hope you enjoy dune!
Casually watching this reading vlog and then saw my comment on the reading sprints, weirdly surprised. Really loved the vlog like always.
Rain, hail and thunderstorms are the best weather conditions to read to! Yet, I always have to cycle trough these storms, and the weather 10 minutes later is 🌞🌞🌞

Hi Leonie! This is a *reading music recommendation* my friend once told me that he studies to video game music because it’s made to get and keep you concentrated. I tried it for reading and it worked great! I choose a different video game score for the type of genre I’m reading so I recommend doing that too😊hope this helps
that's such a great tip, thank you!
When you mentioned wanting to look into more sci-fi/fantasy books, I immediately thought of Skyward!!! So, that's maybe something to look into. I read it like two weeks ago and I really loved it :)
Your copy of Dune is so pretty!!
I'm about 70% of the way through Dune ATM! I've already ordered the rest of the series too!
Btw I’ve never been this early to watch your video and I am so excited 🥰💜
yay happy you're early to watch!
Spotify also has a Read & Unwind playlist! And I just discovered a Summer Reading playlist on Spotify as well :)
Your video’s even colors are cozy
omg i love your reading vlogs soo much
I bought this book, read maybe 100 pages, and haven't picked it up in 2 months...*sighs* now, i have to read it
Im starting this ASAP, and im not gonna reread the description on the back ahahahha I don’t want to struggle this much 😂😂😂
After page 260, it took me 3 months to finish Dune 😂

I read Dune years ago and I did enjoy it so much! However, I have to agree with you, the beginning is really quite slow, but eventually I loved it anyway!
What I did while reading dune was play ambient desert sounds
have you tried listing to ambient sounds? I love the ones from ambient world (I think this is the channel name), they make great ones based on movies and other theme’s. I love reading with them 🤍🤍
I always listen to studio ghibli music whenever I'm reading fantasy, I find it really nice so I thought maybe you will too :)
yes i have some of the movie soundtracks in my playlist!
I love all the little graphics you add in, like the counter etc. Did you draw them yourself?
the counter i drew myself but some other ones are free ones i found online haha
Always love the vibe of your vlogs 🖤
lmao dune seems to give huge fellowship of the ring vibes. It took like 200-250 pages for them to reach Rivendell and the fellowship to be formed! I was so frustrated haha. Loved the video :)
I haven't read any of their books yet, but Ursula K Le Guin and Jack Vance are well known for ther Fantasy/Sci-fi ! Thanks for the great content, found your channel last year and it has been a great time ♥️
Hi!! Im a korean girl and I rly love all ur videos ❤️❤️ hehe I wanna try out this challenge one day too...
thank you for watching
1. Avocados are such a gamble every time, and the odds are so bad it’s rarely worth it.
2. I slogged my way through Dune when I was like 13 or 14, needless to say I understood next to nothing. But I was determined to make my way all the way through the scifi shelf in our local library 😁 I think I need to go for round two now that it’s been... um, decades.
3. I feel like I never see this book recommended anywhere, but if you want a truly excellent scifi, Stars in My Pocket Like Grains of Sand by Samuel R. Delany is one of the best I’ve ever read.
Your editing is perfection 👌 x
okay so....... I'm not the kind of person that reads synopses from books....... ever......... but i read dune last year and so probably the back of this one says a lot because it is a classic and everybody kind of know what the story's about?!
also, yes, it may remind you of fantasy because a lot of fantasies have a certain kind of plot and explores things because of this book (like "game of thrones" for example)
lovely vlog and aesthetic as always
How do you have such good posture???
Such a fun and relaxing video ☺️
Love your vlogs
Dune was already made into a movie that came out in 1984. 😊
the spider plant is so pretty ❤️ hehe
I don’t know what genre it would be labeled as but here is a book recommendation that is older but still good: Tunnels series by Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams. I loved the first two books as a kid and I bought the rest of the series.
The same type of "fantasy that's secretly also sci-fi" vibes are in Gideon the Ninth, by Tamsyn Muir- and also necromancy!! You might like it!
Everything about this vlog is so perfect😍
Also, it would be awesome if you could share the spotify playlist you created, I'm always looking for new instrumental playlists and yours look really nice and balanced😊
Me on my 9th book this month 👁👄👁
I've been loving itt❤ love your readathonssss
The zelda chest effect was hilarious XD
Can you share the playlist? I just started to read dune too
Always love the vibes of your videos! 🥺 Also could we please get the Spotify playlist? 😂 I've been trying to listen to music whilst reading, but it never works, so maybe it could help 🤷♀️
I look forward to your wrap up! I want to know what you thought of Dune at the end 😍
Ah Dune!!! One of the book on my tbr!!
Dune is definitely a slow read, but luckily the world and themes it establishes are worth putting in the time and effort to understand what's going on.
The sequel is much easier to read imo, both because one is already familiar with the world and because it's somehow more emotionally approachable. At least that was my experience.
One of the next books on my TBR is book three in the series, Children of Dune. I hope to finish Frank Herbert's original series before the movie is released.
Seriously seriously seriously I just want to see your books really want to see
It was nice to see a UA-camr do this challenge and stick with one book.
interesting comment. what do you find so good about it?💕☕️📚
7:13 😂 love your expression ❤
I need the link to that Spotify playlist so bad!
Your videos are my therapy haha 😊💚✨
you should listen to the First Man movie soundtrack while you read Dune !!
11:10 🤣 love your editing ❤
I love your personality 😍
what’s your playlist called?
woah something i literally just started reading. cool
thanks for spotify list, ⭐💜 please keep doing videos
This was nice and cosy 🍵😺
Initially I heard Will and I thought this is the avocado's name
I cannot even listen to instrumental music while reading, too distracted.. But I want to try some bird singing or other nature sounds, I read it’s supposed to help concentration 🌲🕊🦅🌧☺️
I'm definitely NOT watching this video to procrastinate writing my dissertation...
my 19 yr old ass wish i could put up with a 24h readathon
haha it's a lot of fun, trust me!
It took me too long to read dune because I didn’t want to finish it and I came about it because I watched a TedEd talk and immediately bought the book
🙌What do you use to edit your video?? It is really beautiful and creative ✨🥰
yes, super cool :~)
@@dr.suezettealoysiaandcarla1664 true and I hope that she’ll share her secret editor hehehhehe ☺️🤞
thank you so much! I use adobe premiere elements + a bunch of online and self-made animations
@@TheBookLeo thank you so much 💜for sharing your stunning video editing software!! Adobe premiere is incredible on the other hand it is quite a lot to learn🙈 complicated rather to use ☺️
I Loved This Vlog Sis ❤❤❤❤♥️♥️♥️♥️😘😘😘😘😍😍😍😍
how do they wake up so early i read a lot of books but i wake up at 1pm DSJKDKJD 👹💀
Why you didn't read the deductive novels
Ok, I love that you're reading Dune but why didn't you just listen to Dune soundtrack xD Old movie is questionable but soundtrack is good for sure xD
If you like that kind of science fiction that feels like fantasy, a good recommendation is Adrian Tchaikvsoky's novella "The Expert System's Brother"
