I´m always suprised to see that sundays aren´t considered "special" days in other countries. In Germany nothing, absolutely nothing is open on sundays, only a few selected grocery stores are open but it depends on the location. Thank you for giving us an inside in your life, it´s very relaxing following you along.
It’s the same in France (: We only have a few things open in the morning but it’s usually very very quiet and it also depends on the location.
Same in the UK, most things aren't open and the things that are are only really open between 11 and 4.
In The Netherlands, stores in the big cities are always open on Sunday’s but the stores in the smaller villages are usually closed since it is considered a rest day

Well in India absolutely nothing is closed on sundays. In fact people go out a lot on weekends and we pretty much have big crowds on the roads all through the weekend.

I'm so jealous of how many bookstores you have nearby. I did my best to browse the shelves as you walked by them. One of my favorite things to do.
I was absolutely enthralled with The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. I found the plot and characters fascinating and the descriptions were beautiful
I haven’t been in Leiden for quite some time, but when I went to Mayflower for the last time I found it really funny that their LGBT shelf was in a closet.

Stuff doesn't open in France either. Last Sunday I wanted to go out with my friends and the bus came only every two hours

Same here, stores usually have like one shelf of english books, but good luck finding any lesser known book there or anything with any LGBTQ+ or POC representation:/
Oh same one shelf of overly over hyped best sellers. It's always hard to find something else. Even in second hand bookshops the selection of english books is always small. That's why i go i always check them every time i can. Sometimes i get lucky.
Yeah and the English books in my country are so expensive

Your fascination on the color changing lights was just too cute and funny. I can certainly relate to it and the anxiety of live streaming. I got similar lights for my home office last year and almost tried live streaming while on lock down last year but just couldn't bring myself to do it. haha I just love those weekends when things fall into place and we can find extra time to relax and enjoy a good book!

I am always surprised how countries like Netherlands are kind of frozen in time where things look same even after years. Whereas everything else changes like one’s circumstances etc
This vlog was soo relaxing. And it made me write down all the bookshops I want to visit as soon as I can haha We all need more books in our lives

Neuromancer is an excellent book. Or I thought so. The beautiful bookmark I bought from you - and the British Post Office tried to ruin - has been doing sterling service. It's currently marking about halfway through an anthology of First World War Poetry. Liked the video. Made me a) want to go book shopping and b) go to the Netherlands again.

On the subject of being tired of your clothes - because of quarantine, I stopped wearing my dresses and skirts, but I wore sweaters, T-shirts and pants all the time to the point where I can't look at some of them and just crave some new clothes.

Mayflower is my favourite bookstore!! Hope to go there soon again.
Never fear, the bookshops will start getting better stock soon, I found that here in the UK when the shops first opened their stock wasn't very good and I actually felt bad for not buying anything, but give it a week or so and new, more interesting stock will start coming in - especially in those second hand bookshops! You probably don't need any further recommendations for your TBR but I hope you one day get to read 'The Binding' and 'The Haunting of Henry Twist', I would say they'd make for a perfect autumnal read. :)
Fun fact, as I’m watching this, it just turned midnight and it’s now my birthday. I’m curled up in bed with a pile of blankets, my sleeping cat, and this. I’m quite happy 😊

It’s a really big bookstore in Rotterdam. It’s really amazing and they have so much. I love it there. It’s my favorite place ever.
Joanne Harris's Loki books (Gospel of Loki and Runemarks that made it into the vlog in particular) are not only pretty but also so much fun! I liked the books a lot, highly recommend the series. And Joanne Harris's writing In general is very pleasant

I was actually talking about the fact that 'romance' isnt really a thing in dutch book stores and genres here with my mom the other day. We dutch people don't even really have a name for them, we just have the genre 'roman' but that is not the same as 'romance' .

I’m looking forward to your thoughts on Neuromancer whenever you finally get to it. I first read it maybe 2 decades ago and had forgotten almost everything about it. Recently I listened to the audiobook from the library and I have to say I was disappointed. I didn’t like the audiobook narrator and that probably had a lot to do with it. Maybe I should try rereading the physical book. At any rate, it’ll be interesting to hear the thoughts of a first time reader.
I was also feeling like reading some romance (I hardly ever do), something like Normal People maybe, and here they're aplenty in the shops... BUT with such awful /cringe names that make me not want any of them. 😩😩

I read a few months ago Blade Runner (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep) and liked it, it is different from the movie, but I prefer UBIK from the same author.
Also, didn't know about Neuromancer, but I will add it to my TBR. Thank you! Nice vlog!
I loved "Do androids dream..." but wasn't able to get into the movie, and I have a running theory that you can love one or the other, but not both. I've never read UBIK and I'm kinda craving classic sci-fi, so thanks for reminding me of it's existence! Will check it out :)

It annoys me a bit, bcz Blade Runner is considered a classic, and a great movie. I probably check it out again in the future

Does it not bother you listening to the dutch version and reading the english version?? I usually don't both read and listen a book, as most of my books are english but my audiobook app is mostly dutch (library version lol)

Unpopular opinion : I hated The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue .... SORRY. It was so boring, all the main plot points were so predictable and it felt like 300 years of nothing. The author didn’t spend time on the interesting parts of the story, Addie has no character growth and feels 30 not 300. Like going through wars and all these major historic events doesn’t seem to have affected or changed her at all...
