The best wintery book I've ever read is The Starless Sea! There is a lot of imagery of snow and the cold of winter, and I love the lyrical storyline. I've reread it probably 5 times now, lol❄It follows Zachary, a college student, returning to school (in the winter); he is walking through the library one day when he finds a peculiar book. As he starts to read it, he realizes that his story is actually in the book, but it has no definite ending. With the help of Fate, he ends of going on a very incredible journey to a world with lots of books, cats, and mystery. I will never get over the way this book is an ode to storytelling and books in general. Its so good.

Six Crimson Cranes has such winter vibes to me! The MC is arranged a marriage and travels to this far-off place she's never been that's covered in snow. There's a winter festival at one point and such vivid worldbuilding around weather and the magic they use there. It has such Studio Ghibli levels of cozy fantasy vibes and I cannot recommend it enough!

I read Jane Eyre this summer and I really loved it, it’s an amazing book and the plot just keeps getting better. I also read it as a non native English speaker, but the language was very easy and rhythm was good specially taking into account that it’s a gothic novel, the pace and grammar complexity is way easier than in other gothic novels such as Frankenstein for example, Dracula, on the other hand, is easy but slow. Currently I’m reading Wuthering Heights which, of course, has a similar vibe in both the setting (England moors) and in being gothic, to Jane Eyre, but it’s a completely different novel, harder to read but once you get into the rhythm is it becomes quite easy and enjoyable, you have to read this book, it’s one of the best books ever, great for the winter and to expand your brönte universe

if anyone is looking for a nutcracker themed story, my absolute favorite is The Enchanted Sonata by Heather Dixon Wallwork!
If you like the original Nutcracker and fantasy in general, you'll love it.
It follows Clara, where on Christmas Eve she is transported to another world with beautiful palaces, fairies, giant rats, and of course a prince. She has to face magician, and the reality of her own dreams. One description I've seen is that it's a wintery love letter to music, and I wholeheartedly agree. If you can overlook some weird and sometimes contradictory language, it is a great read!
(Also I believe it is on Kindle Unlimited if you have it!)

I would definitely recommend the audiobooks for the bear and the nightingale series! The first one is very very slow paced but I got so attached to the characters in the second and third one, I think it’s worth it ❤
