I think about this song daily. Probably because of some unresolved issues from growing up, but it sticks in there. I love the goosebumps I get listening to it.
This song came out the summer I was about to start junior high ('96) and I was SO nervous. I used to watch this video on repeat (recorded it from MTV on the VCR lol) and even though I knew I would never look like or be popular like the girls in this video, it made me feel like I could face it and come out the other side. Thanks for the memories!

@@warrax111 I know that now, but when I was 12 all I wanted was to be pretty and popular. I didn't really get the rest of the message until much later. Thankfully I just went my own way in school and found friends who liked me the way I was.

And then highschools/collage, where you can start from eighter 14/15 years (if you finished elementary school)
or from 10 years (5th grade in elementary school).
But maybe, they've changed it to be able to join anywhere between 11-15 here, didn't check it for long years.

Not something I would have ever considered had any relation to being popular/douchy/Bro culture, or not, but absolutely hilarious when framed through the lens of this song.
And I know this goes against the point of the song, and the sensibilities of the band, but ironically I still can not take my eyes of the main cheerleader. She is so insanely hot. Even when she is intentionally trying to act like the most pompous shallow vacuous bimbo, and representing all the qualities I despise in a woman, she is still intoxicating. I have never had that happen any other time in life ever.
And yeah the chorus is so extremely strong, and hits really really hard.

I was forced out my student house at University by a group of horrible girls as I wasn't considered one of the "cool people" anyway this song was popular on a cable station in the UK called the box. for my leaving party on 13th March 1997 we tried to get the cd single to play at it (no streaming in those days of course) but nowhere had it. now thanks to the internet, every 13th March I play this song.

In the mid to late 90s, after college - I was living overseas and in the military. As an American abroad, this song connected me to life back in the States. Now when I hear the song, I am transported back to my 20s in 1996 when I was kicking down doors thinking that I was invincible. Wonderful times and still a kickass song.
