One of my favorite things about this song is how the verses sound like they’re rushed to finish before the refrain kicks in. It makes it feel like there’s pressure and tension.
When this song came out I listened to it all the time, I knew the whole album by heart. Listening to it again today in this new version is really wonderful. Great work, great tribute. ❣

Man, I remember seeing Pom Pom Squad perform this live at Thalia Hall with the blessing of Nada Surf. I thought you guys did a great job and I’m glad you recreated the video.
So many incredible Easter Eggs -- Mia's first press photo in the locker, Matthew on the slides that Mia shows the class, Shelby as the coach (Ira, Nada's drummer, was the coach in the original). Keep your eyes peeled for more :)
This was incredible! I thought I woke up in an alternate reality where we had full-blown internet and UA-cam in the 90's and Nada Surf didn't exist, but this song still does. Amazing
Holy shit! I never knew about this cover until I was listening to the original song today and saw a comment about this, and I LOVE it! It's really well done and I love the video too!! God, I haven't heard this song in like 20 years and now it's stuck in my head big time!
In the early 2000's, I was part of the morning announcements at my high-school. We were able to play music for the 5 to 10 minutes before the morning announcements began. I played the original Nada Surf song at least once a week over the loudspeakers for a year and nobody did anything about it. I guess the teachers and school staff knew a banger when they heard it.
The original group Nada Surf is from my home state of New Jersey. God, do I miss the 90’s so much. This song was part of the soundtrack of my high school.
This made me smile. Loved the video and song back in the day, so it was a delight to see you all on the football field like that, not to mention Matthew Caws in the slides. lol.
what an amazing cover! this song being sung from a female perspective adds some really interesting dimension to it, and i love how reminiscent the sound is of your guys' debut ep! and of course, the music video is as stylish as ever
