Finally somebody who answered the question about using the Samsung password feature with an iPad. Not even the Samsung FAQ on their website answers this question. You did so you gained a like and a sub from me.
Hey dude. I EXFAT’d my T7 shield on MacBook before I got my iPad Pro, would you happen to know if that’ll hold interconnectivity in IPad Os x Windows? Or should I reformat? Thanks!
Did you say I can connect to camera?
I can they mine to connect to my iPad lighting to usbc cable? Do I need to use something else? My led light isn’t coming on either
Great video!! Thank you
Really made it easier to use both T7 and iPad
Thank you. So you showed us that it's possible to transfer from iPad to t7 shield. But just for clarification. Are you saying it's NOT possible to transfer files from the t7 shield to the iPad in order to edit files? That's the issue I'm having.
Can we record pro res videos using these ssd on ipad pro m2? Just like iphone 15 records pro res using ssd?
Cross my fingers knock on wood, But i myself can vouch for Samsungs T series SSD drives. Ive owned the T5, T7 and just purchased the newest T7 Shield 4GB. and ive been pleased with all.
Gota say for me its not so much about speed as it is mainly for sure safe keeping in storage. Spinning hard drives will eventually fail on you loosing your data. PERIOD!!!. especially those smaller portable drives that are simply the worst. Going SSD is the way to go, chances of failure are greatly reduced, not eliminated but vastly reduced. And thus far ive had no complaints on samsungs products. just be sure to treat these drives with care, both in operation and in transport. And though i purchased the big boy 4TB shield (because i needed to back up and equally large capacity spinning hard drive) i would NOT recommend going too high in ssd capacity, why!? because the larger the drive the more you have to loose if something goes wrong. just as well, youl be using the drive more frequently due to more of your data being localized to that drive, increasing the risk of failure. better off purchasing more smaller drives and splitting up the data. so if one drive fails you dont loose everything.
Question… can i run the T7 and a charger at the same time with a adapter ??? A 2 usb-c plugged into the iPad so i can run the t7 and charge the i pad at the same time ??
Never tried it. May have to look into that
I have when attaching a hub to the iPad first.
Get to the point
I visited the Apple reseller in my city and the guy mentioned that "only pro models of Apple devices support external memory devices connectivity" as shown in this video.
So he lied- I use it with Ipad air and it works like a charm
good afternoon, please tell me how to safely remove the drive from the iPad so as not to lose data. After all, the iPad doesn’t have an “eject” button like there is on a Mac. Thank you
I'm curious, can you connect it to your iphone (such as iphone 12,13) like with the T7 in your other video? :)
I visited the Apple reseller in my city and the guy mentioned that "only pro models of Apple devices support external memory devices connectivity as shown in this video.
Great video!I would like to ask you for advice. I have two Hard Disks (formatted in exFat) that I normally use on a PC. I tried to connect them via Hub to the iPad (Air m1), charging, but they turn on without the iPad recognizing them. How could I solve? I also changed the adapter but nothing. I state that until some time ago they were read without the slightest problem.
Any luck figuring this out?
It should work without issues normally. Have you scanned the disk for errors?
you just skip from 6:39 minutes, the main step required
You’re voice makes me comfortable to buy these stuff I like you’re videos !
Hello,
I just bought Samsung T7. I noticed a weird behavior when i copy my files from IPAD to T7 and unplug T7. Then I see the IPAD storage is getting full. I am not able to figure out from where the storage is getting full. Any solutions for this are really appreciated ❤
Just a heads up, storage is your ssd. Memory is the ram but awesome video none the less
Tomato, tomato. Same difference
Can you plug it to your iPhone ?
yes ma’am
@@imbrion7981 can you confirm you’ve personally tested it? I have a PNY that works on 3.1 gen 2 and it doesn’t work with my iphone
@@DollarMoviesUSA the pro model of iPhones support this.
Thank you, great informative video!
Hi, did you notice usb-c on this SSD is not firmly plugged when you use the cable comparing to other USB-c ports (computer, smartphone, etc) ?
You can remove it so easily that you need to be very cautious not to move the cable while transfering data.
Don't know if it is mine or if it is common on the T7 Shield. Could you plus check yours pls ?
If we set password from samsung app on PC then try to open it on ipad do we get password prompt or not?
Sadly, no
I'm curious, did you reformatted the ssd to AFPS?
No
can you connected to a laptop and have the password protection on and then transfer files to the iPad?
Yes
@@TheAverageTechGuy how? I just bought the t7 shield 2TB, I added a password on my laptop, when I moved onto the ipad there was no where I could add a password to access my files... please can you help?
@@Palasif I was only able to get it to work by disabling the password on my laptop. After that I was able to access the files on my iPad.
Hey, do you have to plug in on a PC/Mac first to use it on iPad?
Hi. Great vid. I’m just wondering, can you use this with ipad pro 2018 model straight out of the box, or do you have to format it first?
Don't format or your stuck on that device
Sir, if you are going to make a tutorial, why did you skip steps you clicked on the pictures and the documents but you didn’t show what to select next! Don’t assume a person know they wouldn’t be watching a tutorial if they did
Hi! Thanks for your review! I have a question: Assume, I've a Samsung T7 Shield SSD APFS formatted on a MacBook Pro. Will this SSD read/writable on an iPad (ie. iPad Mini)?
So, is there a common format type a SSD disk to make it read/writable on both MacBook Pro and iPad?
Depends on what device you used to format it. Have you tried T9

@@TheAverageTechGuy Thanks for your answer! No, I have not tried because it is not available in our country yet.
Can you use this on an iPad Air? Can you also put pictures from camera roll on here?
Yes and yes
Is there any way I can access my SSD T9 via my iPad without a Samsung phone? I don’t want to buy a new phone just to be able to access my drive 😩
Can you use this with the iPad Pro (3rd generation)? I can't find anywhere if I can use it or not. I have one of these for my laptop, but wanted to know If I can use this with my iPad.
Yes
@@TheAverageTechGuy I tried yesterday, and nothing happened. So I am not sure I can use it with an older iPad. I purchased it back in 2018.
Yes. Works like a charm.
@ Thanks. I will have to purchase one just for the iPad. I have one for my computer, and I had tried using that with my iPad, and it didn't work. so maybe if I have one for the iPad only for it to work, but not sure. It works great with my laptop.
I have the iPad Pro 5th generation along with the T7 shield . When I plug the drive in, the blue light lights up but powers down and cant access files on iPad . U know how to fix this?
The M1 iPad Pro has some serious issues with the port/controller.
I have tried multiple tests with Samsung T7 Touch & it’ll max out only around 250-400 MB/s ~ 2.5Gbps which is even less than older Gen’s 10Gbps limit.
Ideally it should give a minimum ~1.4GB/s transfer speed. Apple has mislead & sold a defective device 😢
So is there a way to add a passcode to it? Working with iPad
You can't use password on the ipad now unfortunately
Thanks for the video .I have a question that I could use help on.
I purchased the T7 Shield.
I transferred some videos I wanted to backup from my iPad Pro.
The video transfer worked fine .I can see and play the video on my iPad with no issue.
My problem…when I take a video and save it on the T7 it shows up as taking additional space in my files folder and photos app even after I disconnect the T7.
So if I save a video that is 10GB to my T7 after I disconnect it from my iPad there is an additional 10 GB to my files folder and photos storage.I check the files folder for the video on the iPad I just down loaded and. It’s not there.
I’m a novice when it comes to these things and I’m probably making some kind of rookie mistake but I can’t figure out what the hell im doing wrong. I stopped saving videos to the T7 right now because I am running out of space on my iPad.>
Thanks for any help🙂.
so does that mean if I setup the security password for this disk on my Mac/Windows/Android using the PSSD1.0 software, then this disk will not be usable on my iPad?
I just received my Samsung T7 and it will not read or write on my iPad. Do I need to format it? Why won’t it read or write?
hey, my ipad pro is not able to read the SSD .. what shud I do?
I have the same iPad as you with a lot of videos can I transfer those to the Samsung? Because I do go to my files and I can’t see them there. There’s actually just a few downloads that I did in the past but there’s no videos of mine on there.
2nd.. dont get into the habit of dropping and tossing ssd drives despite the claims of resistance. tossing your drive about only to loss your data, then later find yourselves angry that the drive wont work is due to your own stupidity, take precaution with your drives if you wish to keep your data.
Bought the 2TB at a discount. It is quick and reasonably priced as it can take a hit. Not cheap but worth considering.
Does it work with IPad Air 4th Generation? I need to transfer a little over 100 gbs of files to free up some space from my iCloud Drive 😅
Great video. You have to remove the password to use it though. Is there a way to keep it password locked and still use it?
Nice video. Do you have a video of how to use Samsung software?
Does this work well with the iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max?
I want to ask
I work all my work on iPad Pro 11 inch 2nd generation
And now it’s full and need ssd is it work on my iPad?
And if I don’t want the password number do I need to connect to laptop and close it or just connect it to iPad and continue like that?
Yup you can lock the SSD on your laptop keep it secure. and ONLY unlock through the laptop Ipad is not allowing currently password typing
Should i buy the ssd or ipad pro woth 256 gb
Since my iPad 7th Gen shares the same iPadOS (6.2 or greater), I assume it should be just as compatible as your iPad Pro.
My one is showing Read Only. what to do??
So why can't I connect with iPad. Works fine to Samsung phone and computer. Do I need to buy a new cord?
You can connect to iPad
@@TheAverageTechGuy you can't connect this to any iPad (the way how it has been shown in the video) only pro models support this.
I do not know how you’re getting yours to show up. I have the IPad Pro 5th gen (M1) and neither my standard T7 nor my shield T7 (both are internally the same product) are showing up. Also, the power light on the ssds are steady, so I know they are getting power. Acccording to forums, the T7 is known to be dodgy and they recommend using T5 - which I don’t feel like wasting money on. Anyways, how did you get yours to read?
What’s the drive formatted to? Exfat & APFS work for both R/W while NTFS will give a read only drive. Unsupported formats or incorrectly formatted drives will give this unreadable error.
@@maxpayne69. My Mac-specific spinner HDD is, I am assuming, APFS, and works as expected. Directly connected to M1 12.9” iPad. No need for powered hub shenanigans. The rest of my spinner HDDs are exfat formatted by windows at default cluster size (windows default, meaning 2k) and I believe it’s the cluster size that is not playing nice.
I have T7 & T9 ssds that I formatted via windows to the smallest exfat cluster that windows is capable of, and those are working just fine on my iPad.
03:09 USB 3.2 Gen 2 does not have 10 GB/s transfer rate. It's 10 Gb/s about 1280 MB/s, close to the read/write speed of the SSD.
Giga Byte and Giga bit are different units of measurement. 10 GB (Giga Bytes) is equivalent to roughly 80 Gb (Giga bits).
Otherwise, great video.
Byte = by eight (8 bits). At least that is what they told me 🤠
If you’re using IOS / iPadOS this SSD is not the best option. There is no user interface, no password lock, and no way to know how much space is being used on the ssd after you’ve uploaded large sums of data/files. It’s basically a dumb storage box if used on Apple devices. Sensitive files will need to be encrypted before transferring onto this ssd. I’m disappointed 🥺😭
The way you literally drop it on purpose. I got a mini heart attack 🥲🤣
