I don’t think that most traditionalists understand how much Drew Estate contributed to the cigar industry. They take a lot of hate because of their Acid line, but those cigars brought an entire generation into the world of fine cigars. When I first began smoking, the average age of customers at my local shop was about 55-65. A few years later the shop was full of college kids who were grabbing Kubas and 1400cc. Now those kids are in their late 30s and early 40s and they’re smoking Oliva, Fuente, Rocky Patel, Upmans, and a million other brands. But if you ask anyone under the age of 40 how they got into cigars, they’ll either say that their cool uncle gave them a cigar or they heard about the Acids.

I’ll add to your theory. My very first cigar was an acid.

I’m 26 and just started enjoying cigars about a month ago. When I first walked into a cigar shop, I picked out five cigars. One of them happen to be a acid Kuba kuba. I enjoyed every single one of them cigars, but to be honest with you man. I only remember that drew estate acid. I am a big cigar fan and I want to try them all.

First dip for me was Acid c notes and blondies before 20, almost 40 now and just got into cigars for real and it was acid that bridged that gap.

Just don't get the Acid brand 🤮, love all the other Drew Estate sticks though, I started with Cuban's and realized Nicaraguan Honduran and Dominican are much better value 😊

This is really interesting and before these types of videos came around I had no idea how complicated these ultra premium cigars and to produce.
    Thanks

Liga 9 is my favorite treat cigar! Also, if I were cool enough to pronounce Tohbahco as suavely as Pedro, I’d quit my day job! Thanks for sharing your passion.

I remember the first No.9 I had in early 09. It was love at first puff! The wrapper was the most beautiful wrapper I had ever seen! Sucks that i can't always find them but its a problem I'm more than willing to deal with for a cigar of it's prestige and I don't think the wife would like me smoking up $50~ a day if I had unlimitrd access.

If you have a shop near you ask them to do an event with La Aurora (I am sure others do this as well) thats a tasting event. We did one a few years ago at a shop I worked at and the master blender flew in, we got different puritos (single leaves rolled into mini cigars) where we smoked them and talked about the flavor profile and then after trying 4 puritos we lit a cigar, I think it was the La Aurora DNA, which is comprised of the 4 puritos we smoked. Talking about where the leaves came from on the plant, why each leaf is different, why they only use so much ligero vs viso etc really opens your eyes about the world of cigars.
If you can't get to a shop or they won't do an event like this, look into the Roja's cigar specialist box. Its a wealth of knowledge in the form of smoking cigars. You get a bunch of puritos from all 1 single seed grown in different regions of Nicaragua and then in the end you get full cigars blended from those so you can try to pull flavors out of them.

My favorite cigar that I enjoy on special occasions is the Liga #9 bellicose. It’s pricey but it’s worth every penny. I have never tried the T-52 but one day I’ll give it a try.
