@@johnm-wv6bo thanks for watching and commenting 😊 explore walks are the best, and I’m glad I’m not the only one to think that well is an incredible find 👍
love the old Cock hill quarries...i camped up there a couple of years ago [ Video on my channel ]...what an amazing find the well was...you hit the jackpot with this one.
@@atrampinthehills.841 hope you’re ok mate. I’d no idea you’d camped at Glossop Low quarry (must have been before I subscribed - I will have to watch) its a fantastic location isn’t it? And yes the well was incredible- it made my day 😊
Good evening Kevin, hope you're well. There was so much to explore in this area, I think I would find it stressful as to not miss anything 😅. Thanks for the lunch shot 😂. That well was an amazing find! You wouldn't want to stumble across that in the dark 🙈 and you definitely don't want to be collecting your water from Shittern Clough 🤣. Those ruins and old shooting cabins looked very clean as in no litter, so it proves not many people visit them. Have you been to the Oyster Clough shooting cabin? We visited it last Christmas and lets just say we had a lucky escape. They have taken down alot of the trees there now, so the landscape probably looks completely different. Thanks for sharing another great adventure. 🙂
@@PaulandSadie good evening to you both. The lunch shot was at your request 😂 I think there are lunch shots in the next 2 videos but you’ll see there’s not much variation 😂. I laughed at what you said about Shittern Cloughs water - but it’s probably still cleaner than what’s in the well 🤣 I agree about the well - surely at some point it must have been covered over - if for other reason to prevent sheep from breaking their necks and then contaminating the water. The fact that it’s no longer covered up is evidence that even the current landowners have forgotten about it. I’ve been to Oyster Clough cabin a few times. It’s a nice pleasant place and in better condition than most. Last week I got a good view of the tree felling in the area - it’s a complete mess! I hope they replant with native species. Hope you’re both well and thanks as ever for watching/ commenting 👍😊 ps I think you’ll be pleased with next weeks video….
It's discoveries like this well that validate coming away from the main paths, great find and great video. I got some drone footage over those quarries a few months back, like you said, there is a lot to explore there. Thanks and enjoy your week, Kevin.
@@kevinstark4294 Yes, its on the video called 'Hern Stones wild camp' and it starts around the 5 min 40 mark. The quarry is only visible briefly, I wish I had not edited it down as much now I'm watching it again.
@@HistoryMysteryParanormalWalks thanks mate. It’s so cool. It predates the earliest maps I could find. It’s associated with the shooting cabins ruins I visit in the video. Although it’s a bit of a distance away it would have been for their water supply. So both the well and cabins probably date back to sometime in the 18th century. Thanks for your Halloween suggestions by the way. I’ve made 2 Halloween walk videos. The second one (coming in 2 weeks) was partially inspired by your suggestions :) I’ve given you a shout out in the video and put a link to your black Harry video in the description 👍
@@darrenbell2133 hi Darren. I’m not entirely sure. They could have been shelters or sleeping accommodation. We don’t have any detailed records to tell us. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
Love the exploration videos i like finding old shooting cabins and sheep folds but that well was just pure gold.

Great find with that well. How old is it and who would have used it?

Did people live in those structures whilst quarrying? they look like rooms (almost) interesting.
