As it rains here in Spokane Washington, and has been raining for several days, I let you take me on a trip far away to the Pennines. Soft Autumn sheds its colors and welcomes the crispness of winter. It will be a season of lights and delights. Family and friends gather to share food, gifts and company. Thank you again for taking me on this 27 minute vacation.

My first 5 years on the cut i spent in that neck of the woods , I loved every second , especially Todmorden down to Brighouse ❤. One year, i was iced in at Calais in Hebden for 11 weeks, haha There is much much more to Hebden than meets the eyes !😇

To awaken and see the majestic land covered in a fresh blanket of snow that will even make a rusty piece of metal look lovely! I have even witnessed thunder and lightning in a snowstorm when I was stationed in Germany back in the 80's. I am always amazed by the way you negotiate all of those locks, but my heart is in my mouth when I see you and Zeph walking along the canal side after dark. I expect you're used to it, but that would be so out of my comfort zone. The boat looks so cosy inside and I could almost smell that jacket potato cooking on the fire. 😊

I am 71 and the first REAL snow of the season still delights and excites me. I still love Christmas, too, so it all goes together. We may be getting some snow here (in southern New Hampshire, USA) on Thanksgiving Day, which is Thursday, November 28th, this year. That day is always the kick-off of the holiday season (for me, at least) that ends on January 1st. Basically about five weeks of gatherings, feasts, gift giving and craft fairs, amid the evergreen and tinsel decorations. What's not to love? 🥰 I hope I carry this delight with me to the grave (in other words- never lose my childlike enthusiasm).
Your dog's nemesis made me smile. While walking my Pomchi last week a black cat walked in front of us, arched it's back and started hissing. My Rosie responded by hiding between my legs and screaming for all she was worth. I picked her up, informed her she had completely humiliated herself, and then carried on with our walk. I have decided it is best to overlook this incident and never mention it again. In fairness to Rosie the cat was larger than her. lovely video as usual by the way.

What a wonderful journey, and then the snow, the countryside was so beautiful before but there is something about a snowy countryside scenery. I love the snow and although to get it we have to endure low very cold temperatures, I get very excited about it and get sad when it only lasts for a day or it gets nasty a slippery, Our granddaughter was so sad that her school didn't close down she so wanted to play in it and make a snow person and throw snowballs. She is 11 and I can remember the joy of winter long snow when I was her age, and I love to be able to play with her in the snow too, even thought we don't get the longevity of a snowy winter, huddling around our coal fire that actually on warmed about a foot in front of it so blankets over our knees where the warmth we knew. Freezing cold bedrooms seeing our breath and frost inside and outside the window. May seem like hard times to the modern family life with central heating, instant hot water and radiators in every room. We did have a good life despite the lack of these things. Hope you are keeping lovely and warm. I do find your computers behaviour strange but then they are sometimes I think. I had a whole page disappear the other day some of the short cuts to google and other things on my desktop I use often have lost their titles and the little sign that I use to click on. They cam back for two days and have gone again, my little arrow often freezes or disappears too, perhaps it is general fault of some kind. still quite spooky though.

I am always amazed by the way you negotiate all of those locks, but my heart is in my mouth when I see you and Zeph walking along the canal side after dark. I expect you're used to it, but that would be so out of my comfort zone. The boat looks so cosy inside and I could almost smell that jacket potato cooking on the fire. 😊

I am 71 and the first REAL snow of the season still delights and excites me. I still love Christmas, too, so it all goes together. We may be getting some snow here (in southern New Hampshire, USA) on Thanksgiving Day, which is Thursday, November 28th, this year. That day is always the kick-off of the holiday season (for me, at least) that ends on January 1st. Basically about five weeks of gatherings, feasts, gift giving and craft fairs, amid the evergreen and tinsel decorations. What's not to love? 🥰 I hope I carry this delight with me to the grave (in other words- never lose my childlike enthusiasm).

Your dog's nemesis made me smile. While walking my Pomchi last week a black cat walked in front of us, arched it's back and started hissing. My Rosie responded by hiding between my legs and screaming for all she was worth. I picked her up, informed her she had completely humiliated herself, and then carried on with our walk. I have decided it is best to overlook this incident and never mention it again. In fairness to Rosie the cat was larger than her. lovely video as usual by the way.

As a Canadian hiding from winter in Portugal, there's an irony to seeing a picture of the snowy backyard of friend's in Halifax, just before viewing your stunning video of the route in the canal and the snowfall in Todmorden..................makes me miss winter, believe it or not! What a wonderful journey, and then the snow, the countryside was so beautiful before but there is something about a snowy countryside scenery. I love the snow and although to get it we have to endure low very cold temperatures, I get very excited about it and get sad when it only lasts for a day or it gets nasty a slippery, Our granddaughter was so sad that her school didn't close down she so wanted to play in it and make a snow person and throw snowballs. She is 11 and I can remember the joy of winter long snow when I was her age, and I love to be able to play with her in the snow too, even thought we don't get the longevity of a snowy winter, huddling around our coal fire that actually on warmed about a foot in front of it so blankets over our knees where the warmth we knew. Freezing cold bedrooms seeing our breath and frost inside and outside the window. May seem like hard times to the modern family life with central heating, instant hot water and radiators in every room. We did have a good life despite the lack of these things. Hope you are keeping lovely and warm. I do find your computers behaviour strange but then they are sometimes I think. I had a whole page disappear the other day some of the short cuts to google and other things on my desktop I use often have lost their titles and the little sign that I use to click on. They cam back for two days and have gone again, my little arrow often freezes or disappears too, perhaps it is general fault of some kind. still quite spooky though.
