Love how he talks about all those different cams!
Just got this cam for my bbc 496 I can’t wait!
Never knew Richard was found oFthe BBC
Of course you make this video just as I'm starting to plan a 496 build.
I’m also planning a 496 stroker build. I scored a roller 454 virgin block for a local machine shop
@@jstrick9530 Those numbers naturally aspirated just blow me away, and it only gets better with forced induction. I need to seriously start saving my paychecks. Hahaha
ditto in 2022 :)
fun fact : this cam likes 12-12.5:1 compression ratio on pump gas
Will it work in a fuel injected application using a Holley computer though?
forget the cams, i want this guy to share his diet and training regimen....
Can only hear your audio out of one headphone. Check it out and try to submit a support ticket. Get as many views as you can; good content!
I’m so glad to see this video, the 300BR is so close. Mines a 254/262 .631/.624 in my 496, but with worked 781 heads. Now I have info, thanks so much.
Here’s the cam sound idling ua-cam.com/video/lmMG7YcxkRw/v-deo.html
As much as I love Engine Masters, I love your channel, too. You guys are all awesome.
Hey man love your videos I would love to see more particularly on the 8.1 vortec for Chevy avalanche build
Sold! Take my money!
Thank you for this video. I’ve ordered that cam to put in my 496. It runs amazing with a Ron’s 1800CFM flying toilet. I also matched it with Brodix BB3 xtra heads PTC 5500 stall. Now I’m thinking of adding a couple HP by adding a single plane tunnel ram
400 shot
This reminds me of Hee-Haw!!
BR 549.
For the street I like this cam on a tighter LSA...maybe 110-112...and also on a billet core.
Spend the extra $$$ and get the billet version!
On that na 496... not sure what heads it has but... I'd probably run it on a 107. Also would look for something with more lift. Less duration if you wanted peak power where it was (same overlap, less duration). Would probably make a little more power and a good bit more usable torque through the rpm range.
Torque monster!
I’d like to see this cam in the Blueprint Engines 598 BBC.
Need this same same video for the gm 8.1 oem motor.
What lifters did you run since it is a solid roller cam.
Recommendations for 496 going in a rockbouncer not a rock crawler
What type of lifter can you run with this cam ?
Let us hear it run.
Is this cam made to fit in a gen 6 with the thrust plate up front.
"everybody has their go to cam shaft"...lol
What if your looking for torque over horsepower, I haven't seen much about that?
This is great I’m sourcing parts for my 540 n/a and this looks too be a great choice of cam. Is it a solid roller
Pretty sure it's a Hyd Roller
@@Turbo_Todd It's a SOLID roller.
Use these heads !!

Do you have a screen shot of the 496 power and torque curve?
Na
Personally I blame squirrels
Where can. I Buy one
How about putting a hydraulic can this motor for zero maintenance.. I love big power...but I'm pushing 60 and getting lazy to pop the valve cover and lash valves all the time
I have a Bullet hydraulic roller cam with almost same specs in a turbo bbc and I love that cam , I had Richards favourite bbc cam before and I must say the hydraulic Bullet cam works way better and no maintenance.
Na what octane fuel were you running?
What would the equivalent of this cam be for a 496 Oldsmobile with 9.5 to 10 compression naturally aspirated with hydraulic lifters and would it perform about the same in a Oldsmobile motor?
Just my thoughts but you might be limited by cylinder head options. I could be 100% wrong because I haven't had a real Oldsmobile powered Oldsmobile in like 20 years they may have stepped up the aftermarket game since then.
What would be your go to cam for stock 454 gen 6. Won’t I have a piston to valve clearance
Yes he says you can't go over 500 lift. I got a 2000. L29 waiting to go in something. I was thinking an old Mercedes
Would this cam work on a 565 NA marine engine with a Bravo One XR outdrive, pushing a 28 foot Magic Deckboat?
Assuming it's a standard base circle cam, yes it can. However, there's a few small things we'd need to know before recommending a camshaft for a marine application. Give us a call or send us an email and we can talk about your options!
@@Compcams1976 rpm range too high.. look for a cam with a 1200-4500 ish range.. ie max torque around 2500 to 4500 is perfect for marine use.
Im building a 496 i want to know what stroker kit and heads were used
I'd really like a write up on that build as well.
Uhhh, yeah....they prob. got at least 10K in those heads.
@@454Tony1 probably
@@454Tony1 shouldn't have to have that much brodix heads afr dart off the shelf would work. Just tell the cam grinder, which would be comp cams in this case, what you have for springs and they should be able to hook you up.
@@454Tony1 probably not 10k in the heads maybe the whole build assuming they did their own assembly
If you have that much in the heads for a street car you've been bopped over the head for real
Is this too much cam for a 468 with 9.2 CR? What carb would work best, a 950 DP?
If your gonna run a turbo or blower that compression will be fine. Me personally I'd look for a cam with an earlier intake valve closure if I was planning on running it na.
Could you do a test on a big block chevy with 15:1 compression and 200 nos shot with no ring gap? Or is that a bad idea even with q16 gas
Got dayum, run e85 on it, def goin to make massive power, good luck..
Does it work well with a 496 Running alcohol?
i don't see why not..
Is there a write up on that 496 build?
He's got a whole video on that motor I believe
Would this cam be good for a 408?
Depends! Is this a street engine or race?
@@musclebone7875 street
@@jermeygonzales2236 ok. What's your hp goals? For a street engine, torque is more important than hp. Are you using stock iron heads or aftermarket aluminum?
@@musclebone7875 L92 port n polished heads
@@musclebone7875 and hp goals I really don't know, I just want a good setup for the street that's gonna be hurting feelings lol
Well it sounds dope but
this is a way better cam . Lunati Bootlegger Camshafts XXX11232HR
Looks a little too big for my little 454.
I only remember cheer leaders talking with their arms and hands. You need to jump and hop more.
Hahahaha comment of the year. I'm sure he can take a good joke. I would love to see what he's got in his garage
Egg head...
Too Much Talk, no Dyno evidence.
I really like richard, but his favorite is not that great...lol
