Thanks! Happy to help out in any way we can. Would you be interested if we did a more detailed video just on our sanding/finishing process in the future?
I love ur channel, the quality is amazing. I came from the gyroid planter video. I don't even have a 3D printer, your videos are pretty calming to watch
Hey guys I'm back! Finished your Keyblade build. Came out AMAZING. Will be happy to share photos if you'd like. Im preparing to tackle the Master Sword next! Prepping the paints/rod.. Hope you guys are preparing a Buster Sword build next ;)
That is amazing, so happy to hear it came out well! We were considering building Sephiroth's Masamune, but we would have to take out a wall or two to fit it in the shop. The Buster Sword is much more reasonable haha.
Beautiful work! The graphite makes it look super believable. Is there some sort of sealant or clear coat you could put on the blade after to help keep the graphite from coming off after the build is done? It seems like it would rub off on everything #.#
I love the shininess of the graphite but the fact that we see the stroke application of it near the hilt makes me doubt if this is something I would gor for. Maybe chrome spray paint with a clear over it could net similar results? Go video btw, it does look amazing overall
Does the graphite finish need a clear coat? i'm curious to know if it slowly rubs off and needs re-applied as well. Thank you! (also, sorry for necro post...)
I know it's been awhile since you guys posted this, but I have a question that I want to get your opinion on. I glued (using CA glue) two segments of the blade at a bit at an angle (like after I glued all the halves together and then was gluing each of the segments). I was thinking about using a soldering iron with a thin tip to try to melt a little inside the joint and then adjust. What do you suggest?
Aww that is the worst - but we have heard of a trick (we have not personally attempted this) you might be able to correct the bend by submerging the whole piece in some hot water (just tap water, no need to boil it) then quickly placing the whole piece on a flat cool surface apply gentle pressure to correct - Best of Luck!
This is so cool! my friends currently printing my parts as i plan to make two of these, one for my zelda obsessed girlfriend and one for myself as ive always wanted a master sword replica on my wall. its really easy to follow this tutorial but my one question is how long of a threaded rod should i use? you guys didnt specify the length so i just want to make sure before buying anything!
You should be good with a standard 3 foot rod - you might just have to trim it a little to fit your print. Good luck, we would love to see the finished product!
Hello. I’m wondering how long the threaded rod is? I’m almost done 3D printing mine and I’d like to know how long it should be incase I have to cut mine. Thank you ^^
You should be good with a standard 3 foot rod - you might just have to trim it a little to fit your print. Good luck, we would love to see the finished product!
Same as you I love the result when using graphite to get the metallic finish. Does it need a protective layer on top after adding the powder in order for it to not degrade or is it enough to rub it on the surface?
No lie, we were ALL pissed at Miyamoto and Nintendo for acting like Zelda's 35th was mere peanuts compared to Mario's....still am, even though TOTK was a massive success
Thank you! We've been thinkin about it 😏 We did just ignore sanding the tri-force since it didn't look too bad, but it could be done with a hand sanding sponge or a makeshift file, wrapping sandpaper around a popsicle stick, etc. :)
I am in the process of making one of these and was wondering if there are any additional tips on hot to hide the visible lines from the blade area. I have filled in and sanded multiple times and hit it with a coat or 2 of primer but they are still there. Whats the secret? Trial and error till perfect?
Sadly it is just a lot of filling and sanding. Make sure when you sand you are keeping the paper flat - we fin using a block of wood with sandpaper attached keeps it level. It is also important that everything is really secured together with glue, otherwise the gaps could reopen. Best of luck!
This is great! I’d suggest checking out make up applicators instead of cotton balls only because they are reusable and you wont have to continue buying cotton balls Otherwise this is a great build
The graphite finish is surprisingly durable. We did not use a clear coat and it has held up just fine. Oddly enough the only thing that took the graphite off easily is when we cut the cake at the end of the video, so as long as you keep it away from frosting you should be good haha.
@@make432 Never seen the stuff used before, but it makes the blade look awesome. Ordered the stuff to make my own, and I'll need to make a matching Shield after I find a high quality model.
we coated the rod with the foaming glue then inserted it into the blade - However you can use a 2-part 5 minute epoxy for the same results without the mess.
Good eye! Yes we were rushing our build a little and didn't spend enough time sanding our parts, meaning everything was just a little too snug. Spending a bit more time sanding and cleaning out that inner channel after printing should solve any splitting issues!
I am also now done with mine. I like it but the model itself for me wasnt really good. the blade didnt fit together so I had to do an extrem amount of sanding all edges flat. It was really extreme.
Hey guys! After seeing how well yours came out, I'm switching from silver spray paint to graphite for my first project, the master sword! Just one question, I have the sheath to go with it and I'm worried about the graphite rubbing off. Do you guys have a problem with that? I would clear coat it but I'm worried about losing that metallic finish. I've watched all your videos, you guys deserve way more subs than you have. I hope your channel blows up :) ps. I was your thousandth sub! You were at 999 when I subbed the other day!
Happy to have you join us and thanks for pushing us to 1000. We have found that the graphite is pretty durable and not much causes it to come off. The cake we cut at the end of the video is actually the only thing that seemed to remove it easily haha. But you can easily apply more graphite in the future if you do see some spots wearing down.
We don't remember exactly but we had a 36" rod that we trimmed down to length, a 36" rod may work without trimming as it can go all the way to down the pommel!
We might be working on our own dream version of the Master Sword that works out some of the issues we (and some others) have been having with the files - keep an eye out!
Remember to *Subscribe* to catch more of our builds! What would you like to see us make?
A Pokeball replica that also has the functionality of a Pokeball Plus would be really cool
I like how the hilt is a more matte finish instead of the traditional glossy one
Right?? We like that contrast between the matte handle and the smooth blade!
Ya’ll production value is so much better than it have to be. I really really hope that y’all will grow fast!
That really means a lot to us, thank you so much and thanks for your support!! :)
hahaha omg you cut the cake with the sword, i love it
😁
If I had the money, I’d definitely commission and buy one. It is so beautiful
THE PRODUCTION AND BUILD QUALITY IS NUTS
Thanks so much!!
im actually working on thsi right now!!!! i cant wait to find better tricks
So far the beat master sword replica made out there
thank you so much - we have something even BETTER coming soon!
You guys are doing incredible work, I appreciate the effort you all put into these vids, keep it up!
Thank you so much! Is there anything you'd like to see us build?
It looks awesome, such a good build!
Thank you! 😁
ITS SOOOO COOOL! I WANT ONE
RIGHT?! We're obsessed with it 😍
how great is the sword they made, I loved it🤗🤗
Thank you! Cheers!
Absolutely beautiful to look at, fantastic work!
Thank you very much!
INSANE QUALITY
THANK YOU!
I'D GLADLY PURCHASE ONE IF IT WERE ON SALE!!! 😍😍😍🤩🤩🤩🥰🥰🥰
Well thanks! We have something planned for the near future - keep an eye out!
Holy fuck yall only got 663 subs, hella quality on your builds, keep up the great work, and highly appreciate the painting and grit tips

Amazing work
Fantastic work ! The blade looks so real! Hey do you think you could make a sword of omens ? Would love to see your take on it , great job !
Give Me Sight BEYOND Sight! - Great suggestion, thanks!
The quality is insane! You deserve way more subs!
Thanks! and we think so too haha

Thank you! It's such a cool item 🤩
Another beautiful build as expected.

Thank you! Yeah the overall effect is really nice but it does bring attention to any minor defects haha. Maybe in our next master sword video 😏
Nice guys. Can't wait to try this. Also love the chill style of the video. *Subscribed*
Thanks! We have sort of similar project coming up later this month!
Bamboo Bbq skewers would probably work here too
Good call!
Yooooo!! Now make the Hylyian Shield
maybe?
Beautiful build, I do have a question: is there an alternative to graphite powder? Bause it’s not in stock for Amazon anymore..
Any silver spray paint would give you great results as well!

I am going to start this Project too now. I have a question about the Rod. How long should it be? in cm I mean. 50? 100?
We used a 36 inch rod that we cut down to fit snuggly - we, unfortunately, don't have that final measurement, but a 36inch piece will work!
do you guys do commissions for the master sword to make it?
Unfortunately we do not have the time to take on commissions - but thanks for the interest
No lie, we were ALL pissed at Miyamoto and Nintendo for acting like Zelda's 35th was mere peanuts compared to Mario's....still am, even though TOTK was a massive success
Which color rub-n-buff did you use? Beautiful work on the sword. I'm a fan!
Thank you!! It's antique gold, here's a link! amzn.to/3AbzwkF
Great work! Now you need to do a stone to put it in to :D
How do you sand small details like the triangle force? Did you just ignore this part?

Interesting...
> I love the Legend of Zelda series...
(What are the songs that are used in the video? / They're not listed in the description...)
Thanks! James actually made these songs himself. Maybe we should put together a make/do album?

Hello , the color of the filament is important or nah ? I have black, red.
It does not matter - the paint will cover the original filament color so you can use whatever you have!
@@make432 ok thank for reply, i was asking for the lame, maybe the silver powder will not doing the great effects if the filament is red
This is great! I’d suggest checking out make up applicators instead of cotton balls only because they are reusable and you wont have to continue buying cotton balls

Does the Graphite Powder wear off? Or did you put a clear coat over it?

this is amazing in playback speed 1.75
I wish I could sand at 1.75 speed IRL
How much to buy one of these from you?
Stay tuned we are going to have a shop up soon(ish)!
Poor link, they took his sword and they sealed him in the description lol
haha i'm sure he'll find it eventually...
how did you guys glue the rod in? did you pour the foaming glue in the sword 1st then insert the rod or did u glue the rod then stick it in?
we coated the rod with the foaming glue then inserted it into the blade - However you can use a 2-part 5 minute epoxy for the same results without the mess.

36 inches

Our standard settings:
.2mm layer height
15% infill
4 perimeters ( adds a nice buffer to sanding)
