I like it! For those who are older and/or don't shoot regularly the lack of recoil is a big plus, yet the .22 Magnum was once described to me as a surgeon's nightmare. We're all not worrying about penetrating a car(or oak) door to hit our mark. Controllably firing 2 or more .22 rounds rapidly can protect as well as a larger round that requires more recovery time between shots.
@bold810 There is a few videos on YT disproving this although .22 mag has quite impressive penetration for what it is especially out of a pistol length barrel
It's interesting to actually hear the difference in velocity between various calibers. When Hickock shoots the cowboy or stop sign with a .38 or .45 there's a noticeable delay between the sound of the shot and the ping. But when he shoots them with a .22 Magnum there's almost no delay. Same with the gong. When he shoots at the gong with a .45ACP you can almost count the time on your fingers before the clang.
I have had this pistol since June of 2023 and my very first pistol, I am new to owning guns at 66. I liked how easy to rack the slide and the capacity of it. I usually run 25 rounds in it. I love how it fits my hand and the thumb and trigger safeties. Before I ever shot it I got some snap caps and cycled them through the gun some 400 times to learn the functions of a semi auto. I did have some missed fires or jams but easy to fix thanks to my snap cap practice. But after 200 rounds it seems to be working good. Also the gun gets extremely hot. After 50 rounds I let it cool off for a few minutes and shoot my Henry 22 classic. I am thinking about getting a 22 magnum rifle.
If you’ve never fired .22 magnum it’s as loud as 9mm, recoil like .22 lr, and has an amazing fireball. And the speed of the round is incredible. The ammo, however, is pricey.
Something I think worth mentioning is that 22 WMR retails for about the same price as a 9mm, so you're not gonna break the bank like you would with other less common calibers.
You are a voice on Video’s that can be trusted just teaching what you love to do No agenda just having fun sharing what you see and shoot good job thanks

It's not the same bullet at all, the caliber is the same at .224 but the projectiles are much different. 5.7x28 is a pointed spritzer bullet whereas the wmr is more of a rounded traditional 22 rifle bullet. @@jocap7993

I purchased I believe the 1st one the Baton Rouge area just about a month ago. I’m absolutely amazed with this gun. I’ve shot over 1000 rounds of many different types of ammo. 30 and 40 grain jhp and fmj all cycle just fine. I did have a few hang-ups but not since it was broken in. It’s extremely accurate and very easy as well as affordable to shoot. I believe it’s going to be a very popular pistol, soon to have a waiting list. This is my everyday carry, with 2 magazines loaded with a mix of fmj and jhp ammo. I have 60 rounds available, with only 2 mags. I just received the 2 extra mags, so if I want I can have 120 rounds readily available. I’m guessing they will offer a threaded barrel soon but as of now it’s not an option.
I love my M&P15-22, have put a few thousand rounds now and it’s always reliable (some rounds don’t go boom but it’s the ammo, not the rifle). Only thing that broke after 1,000-1,500 rounds was the ejector, simple fix. Run it dirty dirty and still goes like it’s the first time a round has been fired. Thanks for your content, always educational and amazing! Love from KY.

Looks like a fun pistol. The downside for those of us with small-medium sized hands is it is difficult to get a firm and comfortable grip on it due to the length of the 22 mag round, but not totally unmanageable. Same issue is experienced when I've handled an Automag or Desert Eagle in any long cartridge.

Kel-Tec have stated that a 40 grain .22 WMR round should reach a velocity of 1230 fps from the 4.3″ barrel of their PMR-30 pistol. This works out to 134.40 ft/lbs of energy. This is a significantly less than the FN Five-seveN USG (4.75″ barrel), which can push a 40 grain bullet at 2009 fps. This works out to 358.57 ft/lbs! Nearly three times as powerful as the .22 WMR This does not mean that the .22 WMR is not a good cartridge. It simply means that the 5.7mm is optimized to be fired from a pistol, rather than the slower burning .22 WMR loads which are designed to be fired from a rifle.
I have one of the OLD AMT .22 automag from the 80's it still works , field strips like a 1911, there was a note that came with gun stating that the gun would not cycle properly with CCI ammunition.
I have this pistol and I love it. I've been a big 22 mag fan for many years for snakes varmints etc. My new pistol did jam a few times through the first 200 rounds or so but now it's pretty reliable. Really enjoy your video's, very informative.
Hickok45 is awesome. Thank you so much for ALL the vids you've put out. I pretty much use you as a deciding factor for all my gun purchases. You da'man.😎👊
Oh Hickcock you’re real funny I’m 67 and I got 45 auto. Might be a little tough to pull back, but I still got it. I’d still love to have one of those easy pull back 22 magnums looks very reliable. Thanks for the funny joke talking about old guys like me lol.😊
I've had a box of 22 magnum sitting around 20 years since I accidently grabbed it for my 22 LR rifle. After watching this gun shoot, I think a pistol that shoots 22 magnum is in my future. Mean little round!
I have my S&W 22mag running nice and smooth. There was a short breaking in period of about 80rds. I run hornady 22 mag 30 gr. v-max thru it. Invest in a loader. It's one of my carry pistols.
I have one of these and it's just about my favorite pistol. As far as ammo goes, the one brand I highly discourage is Armscorps. Not only does it make the gun much dirtier faster than normal, but it also seems to blow a lot of unspent powder back at you while it's igniting. It eventually got to a point that it was bad enough that the rounds wouldn't seat all the way in the chamber, and twice I had an OBD. Much of a testament to the design of the M&P22, the action is open on almost 3 sides so the pressure could just vent up and out without blowing the gun apart. Probably not intentional because no one wants an OBD to begin with, but it helps. Never had this issue with any other brand. I've tried Winchester, CCI, Federal, Remington, etc. FMJ and hollowpoints work great
The Walther WMP .22 magnum is advertised as a defensive pistol by Walther. The Smith & Wesson is banned in some non-free states due to its magazine capacity.
This is nice but I would love too see the m&p 22 compact be redesigned with a flat flat faced trigger which is the same size as the shield plus. Able to get rage time for the much cheaper 22 rounds instead of the 9mm
Wideners is a great supplier. My fourth order in on the way. I wouldn’t usually order on line because I don’t like to pay for shipping, but your code almost takes care of the shipping. They get the order out right away. Good company !

As a man getting on in years, can I suggest, when you do a firearm, you market test all the magazine filling devices on sale for the magazine for the firearm. Last 3 firearms I bought, I had to shop around to find an effective magazine filling device AND my old fingers hate direct loading mags these days.
It's such a fun shooter. That TEMPO system is fantastic! It's a little flamethrower, for sure. It'd be neat if they came out with a conversion barrel/mags for 22lr.
Good video, thank you sir. I wanted to say that I like your tree slab table that you have the pistol stripped down on at the beginning. That would make an excellent working surface, and beautiful at the same time.
When I decided to get back into shooting after being away from it for over 30 years, my dad recommended I try his CZ 512 22wmr rifle and I absolutely loved it and still love that round. I have a Ruger American 22wmr bolt action rifle that I have a lot of fun with. I like to run Federal 50gr hp's through it and it is a deadly round. Looks like S&W has a winner with this pistol. Might be my Christmas present this year. LOLOL Thank you sir for this video.
I'm always watching your blog post. I've learned so many things about guns, and even though I have no gun, I like the way you explain things and your funny 😅
I bought the Automag II in 1990 and still have it. It does not hold 30 rounds and sounds like a .44 mag when you pull the trigger.. but I love that ole gun. This S&W looks was better in a lot of ways… I have shot the Kel-Tec but this one looks way better. Thank you
Ingenious! My PMR30 and PMC30 weigh nothing, but share 30 round mags, a great pairing of a 30 round .22 magnum pistol with its counterpart carbine rifle, both are threaded barrels. A pair for the last ditch oh shxx bag, nowutimsayn
Just bought one and love. However only use 45 grain and no lead nose ammo. 40 grains will work but you'll need to work it out. Use it for conceal carry.
I'll make it simple .22 magnum uses slow burning flake powder designed for long barrels, shooting it from a pistol loses much of the power it was designed for, NOW make that pistol in say .30 carbine, and using fast burning ball powder, you get a higher velocity of a rifle round shooting through a pistol, simply said if you want to get the most out of a handgun shooting a round made for a rifle round you use a round that can handle modern ball powder. I shot enough .22 magnum through a pistol to collect enough unburned powder to load boxes of rounds just from powder piled up on the ground below the barrel.
In my opinion the grip is neither small in diameter or short with those extra special mags. Admittedly not as large as some peoples hands but definitely more than your average carry pistol
I love his attitude in this 🤣 it's especially hilarious (in a weird way) because my 78 year old grandmother just broke five ribs last night and keeps calling people sissy and sending me memes about people being weak 🤣🤣🤣 Edit* that second green 2 liter was also a nice ring on steel haha
I've had my eye on this one people underestimate what a 22 wmr can do and I think what they lack in weight and diameter they make up for with speed and hit hard as heck for a rimfire that's been around a long time
Just got mine last week and shot it last weekend. Great shooter. I did encounter a couple of feed issues. I half expected it as honestoutlaw had a few.
I just picked up both the S&W and Kel-Tec .22 Magnums! My cousin and I are about to film a video to Compare each…. I really like how the S&W looks, she’s SWEET! I have a 4” Ruger GP100 with the Full Barrel Shroud, and the S&W mirrors that front angle, which I love..! Semper Fi

I have one of the OLD AMT .22 automag from the 80's it still works , field strips like a 1911, there was a note that came with gun stating that the gun would not cycle properly with CCI ammunition.
Mine cycles just fine with the maxi mags
My first pistol was a Ruger single six in 22 magnum. Loved it and regret selling it.
Great video.
Me too! Loved it and regret it being stolen 😞
I have this pistol and I love it. I've been a big 22 mag fan for many years for snakes varmints etc. My new pistol did jam a few times through the first 200 rounds or so but now it's pretty reliable. Really enjoy your video's, very informative.
22wmr is sweet. A lot of fun for much younger shooters to step up from 22lr if they fancy it.
I went from 22 to 44 when I was 12
@@10milBill I went from 22 at 5 years old to 44 magnum/12 gauge/30-06 when I was 8
@ErikHyndmanto I dont. The other person was trying to flex. lol...
Hickok45 is young to you? Are you 1000 years old?
Thanks you for all your outstanding content
ive always loved the keltec pmr30. its cool to see other manufacturers making stuff in 22mag
Hickok45 is awesome. Thank you so much for ALL the vids you've put out. I pretty much use you as a deciding factor for all my gun purchases. You da'man.😎👊
Wow... fast round.....the rounds are hitting targets while there is still visible muzzle flash. Nice.
I can't wait to rewatch this ten years from now and remember the way I chuckled when he said that I love hickoc45!
Me holding this Magnum pistol talking to a squirrel: “I know what you’re thinking punk squirrel….” 😂😂😂
Oh Hickcock you’re real funny I’m 67 and I got 45 auto. Might be a little tough to pull back, but I still got it. I’d still love to have one of those easy pull back 22 magnums looks very reliable. Thanks for the funny joke talking about old guys like me lol.😊
I'm 67, I've got the XD-45 acp. Been on the TV as part of the greeting party. haven't fired it in over 10 years cuz the springs are a Bear.
I've had a box of 22 magnum sitting around 20 years since I accidently grabbed it for my 22 LR rifle. After watching this gun shoot, I think a pistol that shoots 22 magnum is in my future. Mean little round!
I bought one and have a little red dot on top. It is my new backup pistol for my tac vest😊😊
The Heritage Rough Rider comes with a 9 shot .22 magnum barrel.
@@rwdchannel2901 that isn't bad, but it ain't 30!!!😏😏
@@rwdchannel2901 Looks like something they'd have in an old western.
Hickok says, "I'm left, right, or high, low." Fantastic!
Great review!
22 magnum is the best caliber for self defense. Thanks for sharing this video
It’s not the best, but it’s far better than 22LR.
@@furonwarrior10mm should do it
I have my S&W 22mag running nice and smooth. There was a short breaking in period of about 80rds. I run hornady 22 mag 30 gr. v-max thru it. Invest in a loader. It's one of my carry pistols.
This is a great pistol. Have fired one a few times and loved it.
FMJ and hollowpoints work great
I’m always amazed how awesome a shot you are. U the man!
For a minute I thought you were going to finish that video without a single miss! Great review, as always.
Looks like they did a really good job making an odd round run in a semi-auto pistol. Definitely an interesting piece!
I have the Walther WMP .22 magnum and i love it.
Don't own one, but have shot one (approx. 100 rounds).
I can vouch for its characteristics. It's next on my buy-list.
God bless you Hickcok keep up the reviews.
The Walther WMP .22 magnum is advertised as a defensive pistol by Walther. The Smith & Wesson is banned in some non-free states due to its magazine capacity.
Wrong comes in 10 round mags
This is nice but I would love too see the m&p 22 compact be redesigned with a flat flat faced trigger which is the same size as the shield plus. Able to get rage time for the much cheaper 22 rounds instead of the 9mm
Thanks!
Wideners is a great supplier. My fourth order in on the way. I wouldn’t usually order on line because I don’t like to pay for shipping, but your code almost takes care of the shipping. They get the order out right away. Good company !
Hickok, I’ve been watching your videos since 2012, always thought of you as the grandpa I never had, but I did because your awesome fun & smart content was always there for me.
I say this because I’ve lost my dad and uncle to cancer this year.
I just want you to know that I love you man, and Im super thankful for everything you’ve done for the community.
Sincerely 🫡
Thanks for the review. I was out when you pointed out the magazine pinching your hand. Maybe they could fix that in the future.
It's worth mentioning how cheap those rounds are compared to some other ones. You get to shoot a lot for the same price.
*"The twenty two magnum.. 50% of the most powerful handgun in the world"* - Clint CouldaShouldaEastwooda
You STILL GOT IT Hickok…great shootin’! THAT’S a nifty .22 Mag. I like it..probably a $550-$600 price tag I’d imagine.
I have a CMR30 .22 Magnum carbine by Kel-Tec and haven't had any issues with it. Similar magazines.
Good video, thank you sir. I wanted to say that I like your tree slab table that you have the pistol stripped down on at the beginning. That would make an excellent working surface, and beautiful at the same time.
I love that muzzle flash. You can take pictures with that bad boy I got a 22 magnum revolver but I’d sure like to have one of those bad boys.😊
Keltec pmr: Am I a joke to you ?
My pmr got pits 🫠
Update* scrubbed tf out of it wit copper she lookin nice hopefully it doesnt come back worse… i need to store it better
Yes😂
Thanx for the disassembly and explanation of the operation of the pistol..first time I've seen this...
Thank you
Great video! Thank you brother. I've been very curious about this weapon. What a cool design.
God bless all here.
I just seen something about a 50 grain .22 mag. Have you tried it if so would you recommend?
Well.
Looks like watching this video is gonna cost me about 650.00 in the near future
I'll make it simple .22 magnum uses slow burning flake powder designed for long barrels, shooting it from a pistol loses much of the power it was designed for, NOW make that pistol in say .30 carbine, and using fast burning ball powder, you get a higher velocity of a rifle round shooting through a pistol, simply said if you want to get the most out of a handgun shooting a round made for a rifle round you use a round that can handle modern ball powder. I shot enough .22 magnum through a pistol to collect enough unburned powder to load boxes of rounds just from powder piled up on the ground below the barrel.
I know right he’s such a legend 🤜🤛
Thank you for that vid 👍. I wanted a Hickok45 test run on this pistol.
I'm sorry Hickok, I laughed when you pinched your hand... AGAIN!
I hope you're alright and appreciate your sacrifice
Just more proof that Guns are Dangerous! :-)
The grip area needs to be longer for folks with larger hands.
In my opinion the grip is neither small in diameter or short with those extra special mags. Admittedly not as large as some peoples hands but definitely more than your average carry pistol
No one with large hands will agree...they don't want the magazine covered by their hand which interferes with quick mag changes. @@CJ4S147
I love his attitude in this 🤣 it's especially hilarious (in a weird way) because my 78 year old grandmother just broke five ribs last night and keeps calling people sissy and sending me memes about people being weak 🤣🤣🤣
Edit* that second green 2 liter was also a nice ring on steel haha
“Fast little boolet” 🤣😭 I love it
Hickock, did you say the trigger is "totally ambidextrous "😂 i wonder how many people cought that.
Not as many as those that “caught” your typo! Hahahaha!
Who shoved the stick up your butt? @@laramiefj40
Ok hicock I’m 70 and I remember my grandmother using "GOB" as a measurement while cooking😊
.22MAG is like a soft 9mm, but very affective round, great for personal protection! KEL-TEC .22WMR great pistol I carry and has a 30 round mag!
I've had my eye on this one people underestimate what a 22 wmr can do and I think what they lack in weight and diameter they make up for with speed and hit hard as heck for a rimfire that's been around a long time
The issue with 22 mag is ammo cost. I can cast and reload 357 or 45 cheaper than shooting 22 mag. Love my 77/22 however, just not too practical.....
Just got mine last week and shot it last weekend. Great shooter. I did encounter a couple of feed issues. I half expected it as honestoutlaw had a few.
That .22 mag really has a fantastic sound on video.
0:20 22. magnum is a FAST little boolet-
Excellent skills with that pistol man!
Was like the fountain show at the Billagio in Vegas with those two liters, love it !
That thing loud… just might be the best 22 pistol
People need to check out the ballistic gel test on the 22 magnum
I just picked up both the S&W and Kel-Tec .22 Magnums! My cousin and I are about to film a video to Compare each…. I really like how the S&W looks, she’s SWEET! I have a 4” Ruger GP100 with the Full Barrel Shroud, and the S&W mirrors that front angle, which I love..! Semper Fi
