For all the people wondering, the other guy Ryan is fighting is called Alejandro Tolmos, he is one of the best ( if not the best ) grappler we have in Peru in his category. Ive fought in sparring with him a while ago and he was a BEAST, its crazy to put in perspective the lvl of this sparring, but its just world class. Just amazing jiu jitsu from one of the best peruvian fighters and offcourse outstanding jj from one of the best of all time.
@@405bench4 That's only because Gordon is so fucking good. The fact he can even get a takedown when you've been getting tapped repeatedly the entire day is impressive.
Such a good match to watch. Really captures how your game changes when your smoked and how people who really have ture spirit fight to the death with every last breath they can dig deep and find. Fawkin excellent!
probably one of the coolest things I have seen in a Jiu Jitsu training room. AT 12:20 Gordan gets countered almost flawlessly. Such a sick counter, with perfect timing and speed, really cool to see that someone as methodical as mr GRONDAL himself can be countered so effectively on a move they are so comfortable doing. Then at 13:49 about 30 seconds later, Gordan counters the counter and gets a takedown. For him to realise what happened, recreate the situation and then apply a counter he came up with in that short amount of time is just unbelievable. Nice video thank you.
This is how I feel when I roll with my instructor, always one step ahead. Repect to the other guy as he was countering very well. It amazes me with jujitsu and I particular when I watch back. Notice something new each time. Love this sport ❤
Watching Gordon roll is such a delight. Even if by some fault of his or an opponent's sneaky move he gets caught and taps , I dont think someone has better bjj technique than him.
@@blumpkinspicelatte4580yeah tbh this reminds me of when people say Bjj guys hit a good double leg lmao . They generally don’t because the bar is so low
It’s cool I didn’t notice this before. He’s not only going easy, he’s stopping after he hits moves to let the partner think of a way out, then he hits a counter to what they do. That way he reps multiple moves against resistance in each position.

13:50 that left legged hop back Gordon did is just insanely amazing. Gordon goes from being leg swept earlier to the match, to full on bait countering the rolling partner with the same move. Gordon’s rolling partner is no joke either. The technique used to get out of Gordon’s body triangle was pretty cool to see.
Loving the technique he’s using. Ruotolos call it ruotolotine, Craig calls it a Rear Ezekiel, but really it’s just an arm triangle of sorts. Sort of like reverse darce, atleast the mechanics of it looks like a darce.
I'm wondering, how do you defend a back take from someone who can attack one side the regular RNC or on the side of the seatbelt that arm triangle? I guess you can't.
I've watched this a few times now and I'm blown away by it. I could watch this content for hours and hours. Just goes to show u don't need lots of edited videos and narration. Just ultra high skilled rolling. Even had to slow video down a couple of times to catch the hidden detail. If I had 1% of the flow and skill as these I would be happy..... Go on one more watch and then I'm done. Honest
@@markd7762 Oh yeah you can see him give his partners time to figure out an escape. Still crazy to see someone that's so far ahead of where I'm at. So many levels to this.
You don’t take rounds like this personally if you train with enough world class people. Mostly you just laugh at yourself and steal as many techniques and concepts as you can.
Dude, Im an AVERAGE purple belt. I just see the never ending pressure. Theres a point where you just wilt under that kind of dominance. You just know, you arent pulling any slick escapes. I wouldnt have been able to put up 1/32 of the fight Tolmos did.
Gordon Ryan is pretty scary to roll with. You look at him coming after you while you’re aware that you’re challenging the greatest Jiu Jit-su guy on the planet.
He doesn’t do any thing freakishly athletic, flashy or fancy. It’s all fundamental stuff. Like it’s simple and direct and common sense. It’s like when Magnus Carlsen plays the most common sense direct chess move yet all of us are thinking out of this world complex moves and theories.
Imagine the training partner's girlfriend after practice- "Wow honey, what happened to you? Did you get run over by a steamroller?" Training Partner: "Yes. Yes, I did."

his leg sweep/trip is so smooth. His opponent is standing with a strong base and then flat on his back thinking wtf just happened
It's not a strong base and it's slippery, the rest is true
Really not that smooth. Pretty poor technique actually. You want to see smooth foot sweeps watch Steve Mocco.

Do they have a little corner there where grown men go to cry after a sparring session with Gordon?

That sweep while opponent is on 4 is so slick , he uses his thigh/knee to brake that base. 3:42 🤯

Gordon has been really into that weird arm triangle lately.
What does he call the weird arm triangle
It's the one the ruotolo brothers do. Arm in rear nakedness choke, off to the side slightly

He could make something out of this whole JiuJitsu thing someday.
nah i dont think he could make it to the finals for example, guys like craig jones would probably beat him

At this point , he has a Tyson effect. Not necessarily better than ppl , just has ppl beat psychologically
