Much respect for you and da trooper for helping that lady out. Once I had to help dig out a lady stuck in 2 feet of snow in the alley behind my old house; she had a kid too. Took close to 45 min and I was drenched in sweat. she got out and offered me 20 bux for my troubles, I looked at her and told her to buy a warm meal for her kid.
Help is universal. Be kind to each odder.

Back in 91 on that Halloween blizzard, my family got stuck at my moms nursing job for over night... Next morning me and my dad started to dig us out and had to stop to dig the mail man out twice (once coming in to the Nursing home and going out)... Sadly with the world now a days we don't help each other out like we did back then.

You can tell that trooper has done this many times before, carryies a Harbor Freight jack in his cruiser! And an NCSHP trooper came to my rescue a couple of years ago on the roadside. Tire had blown on my fifth wheel trailer; carcass flailing around in the wheel well had torn electric brake lines. He hauled out a king sized set of bolt cutters and presto! Plus, everyone moved over into fast lane with the cruiser's lights going...

It is really nice to see a trooper help someone who was stuck and one citizen. I unfortunately had the opposite happen to me. My cars clutch went out right at a very busy intersection. I had the hood up and the emergency flashers on, but know one stopped to help or get my car out of the traffic. Not even the five police cars that drove by.

I’m sure you’ve seen the Freeway Incident Response Safety Teams (FIRST) trucks rolling around. They will help someone change a tire, get them gas so they can get off the highway, etc. Patrol will generally help if there isn’t a higher priority call somewhere nearby, but frankly, the biggest issue is safety, since many break down in the traffic lane. It’d be nice if the metro staffed appropriately for the call loads, so more officers were able to help out with these issues. Too many people are struck on the side of the road trying to fix their vehicles. Move over law isn’t just for squads and tow trucks! Glad 110/62 had a nice grassy median there for her to park on.

In Europe, a manufacturer's warranty is required by law to last a minimum of two years, not just one as in the US. A European warranty begins when a product is received by the customer , not the purchase date.

I'm guessing the issue here is that the importer has bought the item for resale so the warranty starts when the importer buys it. I might add that in the UK it is presumed to be a manufacturing defect if the item fails within 6 months of purchase, after which the customer has to prove it. However, as I found out when a company called 'savemylight' tried to claim misuse on a product less than 6 months old, that the cost and time of pursuing them through the small claims court, although not prohibitive, would have been disproportionate to the loss. Furthermore because it was less than £100 my Credit Card Company failed to act. Above £100 the Credit Card company is liable.
Further to the above I do not believe the law specifies 2 years. From the 'Which' consumer Website:
"You have up to six years to take a claim to the small claims court for faulty goods in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and five years in Scotland.
This doesn't mean that a product has to last six years - just that you have this length of time in which to make a claim if a retailer refuses to repair or replace a faulty product."
Thus if you can prove a manufacturing defect there is no 2 year limit.
PS. This is one reason why goods cost more in the EU than in the USA.

My buddies and I were driving to lacrosse practice in college when we saw a mom with a car full of kids on the side of the road with a flat. We pulled up behind, piled out like a clown car, and the look on her face was full of horror. We didn't ask, just opened up the hatch, grabbed the jack, tire, and got to work. She was on the road in less than 10 minutes and at the end her face turned to joy! Coach wasn't happy we were late to practice, but that changed when we told him why. Nice work! Great video @Stan!! Hate that I missed you this past GIE.. it’s always great to see you. Awesome of you to stop and help that trooper. As a prior law enforcement officer of 23+ years myself.. it was mandatory my whole career as just either a deputy or Chief of Police, to stop and help ANYONE broke down. If we were caught driving by someone broke down and not stopping in my early career to help them, we were reprimanded heavily. Lol.. So later in my career, that just carried with me. It’s just common curtesy!! As for you FINALLY getting to do a video on these Altoz mowers… a huge thank you to not only you for your persistence.. but to Andy for finally making it happen. These mowers in person are in a class of their own in my opinion.. I love everything about them when I get to see them at GIE.. But just riding them there on flat grass doesn’t give the full effect. It stands to reason that if there is not a dealer network set up for that particular product in America, then any unauthorised dealer would be considered a consumer in Europe and the warranty would start from time of purchase, however I'm not sure if that is the actual case.

Same thing with the UK, its done from the moment of sale or delivery if they are different times, and don't forget we have consumer law that has an expectation of life of a product so even if its put of warranty it might still have to be repaired or replaced at the manufacturers cost

I greatly enjoy your videos! I have learned a great deal about trailer safety. I was doing almost everything wrong for years. Thanks to you, I am doing things right. I noticed that your new utility trailer has a pintle hitch. Could you do a video on the pros and cons of pintle versus ball hitch? I have asked several dealers but the sales persons I have asked, know nothing about trailers. They only know what is in the marketing brochures. Again, thank you for your informative videos.

    • @Dirtmonkey
      @Dirtmonkey  2 роки тому +2

here is the simple answer- a pintle hitch allows you a fast and easy visual inspection to ensure your trailer is properly connected. I never fully trust a ball hitch. With a pintle I can look down and see its latched and locked.

You didn't have to stop but you did,and the officer was not obligated to help either. He could have easily said I'll call you a tow truck!! These small acts of kindness go way further than we think... Plus your display of kindness will have a snowball effect and it will continue through people long after we continue on with our lives... So a big thank you to you Stan and also to the officer for going above and beyond!!!! Scott from Pennsylvania

That was great of you to stop and help the Trooper change that lady's tire. I am somewhat recently disabled, and though I know how to do it, and have done it a few times by myself, I'd be totally screwed if it were to happen to me these days (spine/spinal cord injury). I do have some mobility and can drive and thankfully, even walk (with assistance) but I sure as hell couldn't change a tire if my life depended on it. It's good to know there are good people out there that stop to help simply because they can.

I bought a track Altoz 2 years ago and love it!!! However, just a heads up. I also own a Bad Boy Mower, my thought was to sell the Bad Boy and just keep the track Altoz. But after a few weeks, I discovered that they are entirely two different machines and I kept them both. I have 40 acres and I maintain about a 5 acre yard, plus pond bank and county road bank. I haven’t found a smoother ride than the Bad Boy for yard mowing. But the track Altoz shines when I mow the pond banks and county road side banks along my property. The Altoz is basically a mini brush hog. The two blades are like a brush hog mower, they sling out and if you can run over it, it will mow it!!! I now use it to maintain some wooded areas that use to be all brush. I had a forestry mulched come through and cut down the bigger stuff and now I use the Altoz to maintain it. It is a beast and an awesome machine!!

Thanks to Andy for reaching out and providing the place and equipment. Thanks to Stan for getting it filmed.
With that said...I am not a pro lawncare guy. More of a spring/summer side hustle. My experience with Briggs&Stratton is...less than satisfactory. Therefore, I do not buy anything with a Briggs on it.
I buy Kawasaki powered, Kohler only if I absolutely have to.
I'm sure there are people out there who have never had an issue with briggs, but I have to ask if they are running the Briggs 1000 hours or more a year?
I don't need a brushcutting mower, all my stuff is finish cut, but if I were to buy one, Briggs power would be top of my list as far as cons go.

When I saw that beast my first thought was, 'I bet that rig would be handy with a small snow plow." I wonder if you can get a setup like TORO has with the Multi Force where you can run a dump bucket on there. (I think you saw them at the TORO show this year.) That Altoz would be very handy plowing sidewalks around an office complex or whatever. You be careful out there, I see some rough looking snow storms heading your way.

Probably mentioned. We carry a section of wood (hardwood) that measures about 3" tall to 5" tall. (Depending on how it's positioned) We have probably the same floor jack the officer was using. It's a fine jack and works well. The block(s) are about 1' long so it helps distribute the weight so less chance of damage to the seam.
