    Glad to see you guys back! Veener stone mortar is awesome for the smaller jobs I always add 2 quarts of portland and 1 lime with acryl 60 or mapei latex polymer! It works just as well as the expensive MVIS imo

    Great video! My question is how do I ensure that when I use the ramset on those hollow core cinder blocks, that I don't blow out the inside of the blocks? I just watched another video on using a ramset to attach things to hollow cinder blocks and the insides of those blocks were subject to a lot of blowout and spalling when you use a ramset.

      Muy handyman kept saying how he has experience, and he put the metal lath on in any which direction. Allhe got done in 7 hours was the roofing felt barrier (over osb) and the mesh on, with my helping nail the mesh. Wish I'd seen this video, but he was so set wtih saying he knew how to do it. I'll just have to get the mortar on and hope it does not fall off the lath....

    Mason, I’m putting a stone veneer on my new garage. Should I put tar paper up before I attach the mesh to the wall. It’s a plywood wall with vapor barrier. Thanks for the help!!

    Thanks for all the tips! I currently have a red brick exterior. Can I put a new stone veneer right over it? Can I treat the brick with something or just mortar right onto it and stick the new stone on top? Thanks!

    Great video, thanks for sharing. Quick question, if I’m fixing an existing exterior wall that has brick & mortar as my base not painted I just do a two step process leaving the scratch part out correct & is there another mortar mix I can use besides the stucco mix? My area doesn’t seem to have any nearby. Thanks in advance for all your help. E

    If you do it on a poured foundation do you still use the mesh ? Or how about wood what would I use when working with wood ?

      If it’s normal block or concrete you can skip wire and scratch coat. I put wire on here bc it was painted and the mortar won’t bond to paint

    Q: When using .22 power shot to attach lath are you worried about cracking or blowing out any of the block? Thanks for video - extremely helpful!!

    Just found your site. Great videos! Just wondering if there is a need or requirement for a drip edge or some form of transition between siding and stone veneer? Thanks

    I’m getting ready to take on a project to put some type of stone over a painted block foundation. On the front of the house it’s about 8 feet high tapering down to a few feet high. I am going to attach the lathe, contrary to what local professional hacks have advised. I am undecided as to whether I want a faux stone, or or a real quarried stone. I am leaning toward a real stone whether it is 1 inch thick veneer, or a stacked rock. I live in Tennessee, so hot and humid. Which is going to adhere better, and last the longest? By the way, do you travel to do work?

      @masonthemason6412  Рік тому

      Yeah you need wire if it’s painted because the mortar won’t bond to paint, good stuff. Personally I like real veneer stone, much easier to find or break the pieces you need. However it takes a little more to get them to stick. The fake stone might be harder to pick out the piece but it sticks to the wall so much easier because it’s lighter and mortar dries quicker

    • @masonthemason6412
      @masonthemason6412  Рік тому

      They will last the same amount of time but over time if the fake stone is in the weather the colors might fade and it’ll look like concrete

    Lathe should be rough when moving your hand up not down. Seems counterintuitive but that’s what the US Stone masonry association calls for. Read official trade manuals and don’t take advice from UA-cam or even me in the comments section. DYOR through official organizations.

    Do you use wire on brand new block walls ? New construction block

    Who gives a shit. Panthers better draft CJ or I'm out. They will miss my support. 😂😂😂. On a serious note. We need to get this right. I think we are balancing out the hype for Bryce. Then bam we pick CJ. WE BETTER PICK CJ. It's the right pick. If Reich is the guru he says he is, then the pick has to be CJ. Reich can put cj in a position to balance his weaknesses. With Bryce you handicap this team because you can't help Bryce see over the middle of the field. What's the plan? Just not use the middle of the field. You can't cut block every play. Its has to be CJ. Fudge this smear campaign.
