Our favorites are cheese, bacon, ground beef and chicken. I am so grateful to have found keto. I started keto at my heaviest weight of 300 lbs on January 13th. I am now down to 197 lbs. I have lost 103 lbs in 10 months! I still have more to go but I feel amazing! I love this way of eating. I can easily make a keto version of something that I crave so it doesn't seem difficult to me. My hubby has lost 40 lbs and is at his goal weight. We will never eat the SAD diet again. Thank you for all that you do!

Another fast cabbage dish: Fry bacon, crumble it and put aside. Chop up cabbage and fry it in the bacon grease until just wilted (still crunchy) or however you like it. Add salt and pepper and lemon juice, whatever amounts suit your fancy. All done - just put the crumbled bacon on top of each serving and eat.

Thank you Dr. Berry! Me and my husband eat a simplified way of Keto just like you described. Simple meats, a little veg, lots of good fats and cheese. We stay away from the abundant recipes that are constantly posted as substitutes for foods we once ate. The whole idea behind Keto is to abandon the old carb way of eating. I’m mostly carnivore. I have bacon for lunch, eat a steak for dinner and be totally satisfied doing that. Next day I will have ham for lunch and chicken for dinner. I’ve lost over 30lbs and my husband has lost 50.

I grew up here in Western North Carolina. My mom lived to be 97. Her mom-90. They fried everything-in lard. We grew everything. I loved The fried cabbage in good ole bacon grease (and greens too with bacon and boiled eggs). We rarely went to the country doctor and never spent a night in the hospital. Guess we ate mostly keto. Just didn't know it. Country life-wonderful. I never could stand the taste of our cows milk but I loved the buttermilk, homemade butter and cottage cheese. We were too poor to buy all the fancy (poison) food at the grocery store. However the spread mom put on the table was always delicious. You are a breath of fresh air. Guess I'll just go back to the way I was raised!

From my childhood: Throw the hamburger into the fryin' pan. If it's fatty, cook it to get it brown and maybe a little crunchy if you like that. If it's too lean, you'll need to add some fat/oil to make it taste right. After the meat is the way you like it, add the cabbage sliced into strips, add salt, and a little water, put a lid on it on low heat until the cabbage is steamed, and yummy to your tummy!

Going carnivore ended up being the coolest culinary choice that I've ever made. Hubby and I got into smoking, wood grilling, propane grilling, brazing, stewing, raw, rotisserie, and every other way you can think of to consume meat. When we do the landscaping we're putting a huge hole in the ground, surrounding that with brick, then filling it with sand. Why? So we can bury a whole pig in there with a good bed of coals for parties, that's why! lol! I haven't eaten ground beef in months because there are so many other options.
And it's still easier than any other way of eating that we've done over the years. I used to prepare my family a 'balanced' meal, complete with a fresh salad, a hot veggie, a carb, a glass of milk, and a pitiful portion of meat. Now it's just a generous helping meat and eat until you don't want to eat anymore. Too easy. If I don't have time to cook, I just toss a couple of steaks in a pan. Done and DONE.

Tougher for us Jewish folks. Most meats are not biblical for me (pork, scallops, crab, oysters, catfish, etc.). But I do enjoy fish ( must have fins and scales), beef, chicken, turkey, and lamb. I also enjoy eggs and some dairy. I also snack on pecans and walnuts, occasionally. So far I’ve lost 52 pounds. I have much more weight to lose... but it’s working! It all started with spending several days in the hospital for glucose levels near 400, and an A1C over 16. That was in May. Less than 9 months later, I’ve lost over 50 pounds and my glucose is at 80 and my A1C is under 6. THIS WORKS!!!

I buy little tubs of avocado in a small case. I get it at Costco. It's a bit expensive, but works well as a salad dressing, and because it can be frozen, none is wasted - very handy if you live outside of town away from shopping. And no guessing if it's ripe or not. The recipe is so simple: 1 little tub of the avocado taken out of the freezer 10 - 15 minutes ahead, massage into the salad, squirt lemon on, add crumbled feta, black olives, or oregano on top for a treat. Other dressing is olive oil drizzled on, and then squirts of lemon juice, then salt. I use 1/2 & 1/2 celtic/Himalayan. Nothing simpler than that.
