@@gerhardbraatz6305 curious...what does that even mean? Are you saying yo yo dieters are in denial ? That they can't accept they have been led astray ?
Gerhard Braatz I’m sure Dr Berry has heard it all. Unfortunately for the yo yo dieter and so many others the problem is theirs. The real pity that so many “professionals” in the nutrition and medical fields also think this way of living (LCHF) is not only wrong but dangerous.
Started keto last May , down 75 pounds. I’m a woman 69, obese for over 30 years. Now I feel like I’m 40 , have so much energy, no knee pain!! Whole new life!
Wow! You're an inspiration to me! I'm 63, started Oct 2018. Down 46 lbs so far. Pain ALL over is WAY down. Still have 85 more, or so, to go. Keep sharing! I love success stories.
Nancy Archibald I had issues my whole life. Did WW three different times always lost but never kept it off and always gained more because cravings never quit, I was always hungry! Now I can listen to my body, it tells me when I hungry. I have about 15 pounds to my goal. I really believe in this way of eating, saved my life Congrats on your great success. You’ll find this gets easier all the time
I've been suffering with MS for 20 years now. I thought that things were only going to get worse as I aged. I turned 40 last month and started keto. My MS symptoms have totally gone away! I haven't felt this good since being a child, no exaggeration. Drs Berry and Berg have changed my life so much for the better and for that I'm incredibly grateful. Thankyou.👍
I have a MS too and I think on going on Keto to better myself. I been in and out of the hospital for the past three months with different symptoms. I cant wait to start my journey and be symptom free
Hi guys its so nice to loose so much in such a short time girl, congrats to u, n keep it up. But we are all not the same. I am on the kito for ummmm 2 months now with i.f for very long hours cus am not hungry most of the time. But my waight is slow too gooooo. Lol any ways am hanging in there cus i need for it too go.
1. Not enough fat 2. Not enough salt 3. Snacking 4. Comparing your results to others 5. Calorie counting and restricting portion sizes, aka "dieting" and stressing 6. Trusting food labels (they hide carbs under different names) 7. Going Keto solo. Get support!!
I follow reversing diabetes Facebook. They have a great tool box. Definitely has helped me get off metformin. The moderators are very helpful. I found excess protein pushed my blood sugars up.
I’ve been in ketosis for 10 Days now. I’m down about 5 pounds and feel amazing. Oddly , my arthritic hands and feet feel much better , and I have almost no pain at all !!!
Today is our one year anniversary on keto..! I've lost 157 pounds and my wife Tiffany has lost 85. Plus our A1C's, blood pressure and cholesterol are now normal for the first time in years and we no longer have to take any diabetes meds. 🤩 🤩 🤩 We think KETO ROCKS..! 🤩 🤩 🤩
I'm actually doing this diet alone. I really don't care what my hubby or my friends think. I feel 90% better then I have ever felt and I have lost 38 lbs in the past two and a half months since I started this diet. If you have the will power, ther is nothing wrong with going it alone. Also, Dr. Berries videos help keep me motivated.
@@davidskaggs9914 may I answer about my 1,5 year personal experience of doing keto diet? I don't want to look fanatic but literally it's been the best thing I've ever done for my health. Always eat regular meals.. x2 per day and IF after 6pm till 10am next day. drink plenty of water.. take Apple cider Vinegar( AVC) befor a meal at least 30 mins, can help reduce Blood sugar..
Been on Keto for 3 months. Lost 33 lbs. Although I wasn't really overweight before, I am now ripped. The unlimited energy has helped in every part of my life. Did blood work the day before I started. Did blood work 3 months after. Every measurement has improved. Keto has changed my life!
I believe you bc i see muscle ive never seen and i barely work out. Its the fat melting away from the hidddn muscle! Now my gial us to exercise more for health. I love my results even without it but its important to exercise.
this is awesome, I'm a post menapausel woman, who lives in a cold state, so I'm waiting to do my daily walks with dogs in the next few weeks, my keto struggle has helped me lower my a1c numbers, given me energy, helped my hair/nails/skin and I have more energy then I have had since my 40's. I hate to excercise though, I feel like I'm burning energy I could use cleaning my yard, house, doing stuff....I refuse to weight myself till this summer, I think I'll have lost at least 10 lbs since last September, my clothes fit better so I'll never go back to eating the diet (SAD), that gave me type 2. I'll always be keto or carnivore or some type of diet inbetween.
Keto for 6 weeks have lost 20 lbs and my energy is through the roof. 66 years old and thought the loss of energy was due to age. Not true, sugar and carbs was my issue. Just feel so much better!!
I wish someone could convince my 63 y.o. husband of that. He eats what I put in his plate so right now it's Keto. But he also eat in abundance Glossettes and Reese's Pieces and other junk he finds during the day. He's always tired, doesn't sleep enough to my taste, and started hurting at multiple places in the last few months. He says it's age. I say it's not but I'm his wife... I'm glad you came to see the light. Good job, by the way. Nicole
I also am 66 years old and just started Keto about 2 weeks ago. Wow! I have so much more energy and only want one meal a day. I have lost 15 lbs already! I am staying with it!👍💖😀
I am 60 and had the same thoughts about loss of energy. I believed it was just age. However once I got past the keto flu I feel A lot more energetic. I have been on this keto lifestyle for about 2 months now. I am down about 12 lbs and have better digestion.
That's wonderful - congrats! I wish I had energy. I'm tired all the time. (UPDATE: Dec 27, 2021 a large chunk of my fatigue was relieved in 1 day when I stopped eating egg yolks! Been supplementing with niacin & other Bs. Food intolerances, like eggs and pork, just drained me. What a difference!) I've been eating keto+IF since July 2020, then started eating ketovore in Sept 2020. I lost 8 pounds in the first two months and have much less joint pain. But I really looked forward to more energy and that hasn't happened yet (food intolerances). I'm 64 female, 5'4" with about 15-20 (now 10#) pounds to lose. Oh, and I have a hard time getting sufficient potassium. Already supplement with 3000mg KCL per day! I started eating paleo in 2012, but my metabolism is slow. Been reading ALL the books. Since I started taking Lugol's 2% IODINE (about 5 weeks now), I've been sleeping much better!
okay, I summarized it into my own word. different people have different interpretations, though. keto tips: 1. don't be afraid of taking fats 2. use salt in food, to taste 3. no snacking 4. don't compare your results with other people 5. don't restrict food portion or count calories in them 6. don't trust information from food manufacturers blindly 7. don't be discouraged when you feel all alone

He's a Great Doctor, ( wish he was mine ) who actually, cares about us, and bcuz of the caring, hard work, and research he's done over many years, we are finally getting our health back, and getting that weight off our joints, and you will feel marvelous. Binge watch Dr. Berry's videos. He'll keep you going. You can also email him. Stay connected. You're doing GREAT !!
I have familial hyperlipidemia, my body makes too much fat regardless of how clean I eat, so I was scared of keto. Started IM first for 18 months, then got tested and cholesterol was normal for the first time in 25 years, so I let my son talk me into keto. Already a huge Dr Berg fan, but avoided keto. Been a week and I feel great. We will see what my bloodwork says in six months!
Number 4 was such a big help to me. I am 67 years old and been obese for almost 35 years. It has taken me 5 months to lose 27 lbs. I see so many people on keto who have lost 3 times that amount in the same amount of time. I plan to continually remind myself that I am on my own journey, like you pointed out. Thanks.
Almost a year feom when you posted this, how is it going?? Did you went back to your normal meals as before but cut back on what you eat now?? Let me Know thanks
@@ezequielarce8079 we are down 130 pounds each! We switched over to a less strict version of keto so we weren’t so restrictive. It was a lot easier to be restrictive during lockdown when everything was closed but as Resturants and life started opening up again we still have fun but stick to a lower carb diet to still enjoy things in moderation!
I lost 50 lbs in about 6 months on the ketogenic diet and Intermittent fasting. I do one meal a day (OMAD) during the week and two meals a day on the weekend (18 hr fast). Thanks Dr. Berry. Keep up the good work.
how do you keep the hungry's away? I don't eat till lunchtime, but I have to have keto coffee to get me through the morning. I can't eat 1 meal a day, I wish I could.

Keto and IF saved me. I went from 418 pounds to 215 pounds. I look and feel amazing. And check this, im 31 and my 6 grade graduate suit is now 2 big for me. Ive adapted this to my lifestyle boy i never felt so good. Im at the point where i have to force myself to eat because i dont be hungry. And the reason why i force myself to eat is because i workout I want to maintain My muscle mass. When people ask me whats my diet. I say i follow a Keto/flexiterian diet meaning. I'm keto and im flexible with meat. Somedays ill eat meat some days i won't and substitute with seafood or not meat period. I cant cut out meat completely, im from the islands n i love oxtails, chicken, pork, lamp, goat n etc. The coolest thing about this, i can stand in a room full of donuts pizza and junk food for hours and not be tempted. All i say is omg i remember when i use to eat that and laugh right after.
Can I reach out to you? I'm on a similar journey and same starting weight. I'm a couple weeks into keto and feeling strong, but definitely would love to have some friends for the journey. Are you on My Fitness Pal? Or any other social media?

I’ve been doing this diet only one single week and I can already feel a vast difference in how I feel inside of my body. I feel “better”. My stomach is not as bloated or full, it is going down already and I can bend down easier, I feel lighter, and yet I have NOT BEEN HUNGRY or felt deprived of food. Another thing that I noticed is that I used to race for breakfast food in the morning and not be able to last long into the morning without eating something. On this particular way of eating, I can easily make it to lunch time without eating a single thing and I am NOT feeling starved or getting a headache from lack of food. I do drink plenty of non sweet liquids until lunch time though. Eating a meaty/cheese meal at supper time with a huge portion of veggies (also with cheese) is keeping me full for hours on end, all through the night and all through half the next day. So there’s my intermittent fast that puts me in ketosis. And I’m not finding it necessary to snack hardly at all so far. These food combinations keep you FULL. You don’t get peckish and want to graze on junk food. I am very hopeful this will work out. I’m loving this so far and feeling very satisfied with my hunger levels throughout the day. What’s best is I actually like what I’m eating and I’m not starving. So yay!
Same here. Ive had multiple people tell me Ive lost weight when Ive only lost a few lbs and it shouldnt be noticeable. My weakness is sugary drinks like juice and fruit punch. I noticed gatorade has lower sugar than many other drinks and I cant stand diet drinks. So I allowed myself 1/3 of a gatorade bottle per day to stave off sugar cravings, which were intense. But those sugar cravings have largely subsided. I still like my sugary drinks, so Ill drink half a bottle once or twice a week. But like you, I feel better than I have in a long time. Quitting alcohol completely has definitely helped im sure.
Keep it up. I've been doing this for about a year. I've lost 65 pounds, feel great and agree with everything you said. I eat one meal a day. (OMAD). I don't feel hungry between meals. So many metabolic issues have simply gone away. I cannot sing the praises of Keto enough. I finally got my wife on it a little over a month ago. Already I am buying new clothes for her and I'm loving it!). 16 pounds down in a month an a half. She used to be starving by breakfast and needed snacks to keep her going. Definitely Insulin resistant. She is also reporting that her hunger is gone, she has fewer night time pees, her sinuses cleared up (crhonic for years), and she loves what the diet is doing to her body. She has a long way to go, of course, as years of insulin resistance have had their effects. The trend is positive, and she is a believer now. Seeing my results were one thing, but seeing it for herself, on her own body, was the clincher... Time to go shopping for clothes again... :D
I don't know Dr. Berry, there's a lot of crazy people in those Keto groups on social media. I have lost 130lbs now in about 7 months doing Keto. I have pretty much followed all of your recommendations from you Keto Guidebook. I feel great and have about another 100 lbs or so left to loose. I am feeling healthy, strong, sharp, engaged in the moment, like I haven't fell since I was a kid.
Shit! You are looking to lose all that? I believe it. I have seen it. I lost only 50 lbs but I wasn't as desperate as you. And I am down to my goal weight. You have to believe in it and not give in to donuts.

I wish ALL doctors took the time to explain things like Dr. Berry. So far lost 35 lbs on Keto and looking for 20 more.... Feel better than ever at 62 Thank you Dr. Berry!
People always used to tell me to listen to my body but prior to keto I was painfully desperately hungry all the time. Now I'm free of the sugar insulin cycle, I eat small amounts and reach satiety really quickly. Love it!
I needed this.i was going to call the bariatric center and make an appointment.i don't seem to be able to lose weight.after watching this I'm going to give it a shot.
Dr. Berg videos are great too, and there are other UA-cam channels that focus on various aspects of keto and health. Dr. Fung is one; Thomas DeLauer is one; Headbanger's Kitchen for the recipes; KetoConnect for the average guy wondering and researching about keto kinds of things, and I'm sure there are lots more. Education is the key. Dr. Berg's approach: you don't "lose weight to get healthy," you get healthy FIRST and then you lose the weight. A healthy body cannot hold on to excess weight. It's so exciting to see all of this excellent health care education available to us for free on UA-cam and thank you, Dr. Berry!
I’m 76, female with a lot of inflammation & arthritis. I’m having a hip replacement 2/27/19.The surgeon encouraged me to go on an anti inflammatory diet which I started January 5, 2019. I have lost 7 lbs. even though I have made mistakes. Thank you for all your tips, they really help.😋
You’re so right about not comparing your Keto journey with others. I’m almost 62, female, and my metabolism was DOA 20 years ago. Weight loss happens when it happens. Big love from Indiana! ❤️
Fat avoidance was my biggest hurdle. After about six months I worked it out. Our government's misinformation has damaged an entire generation. Thank you for bringing enlightenment to the discussion.
I'm 34, and had been trying to just wing low carb for about a month and ended up gaining 2 lbs and I craved carbs like crazy, I have been fully Keto for only 6 days and already feel amazing. I have lost 4 lbs (water weight but still losing inches due to decreased inflammation) a win. The intense carb cravings are gone. I am telling everyone I know about it, have been doing so much research that now my husband lovingly sighs with a small eye roll everytime I say the word Keto. Inspite of all the positive effects I still feel slightly nervous everytime I add butter, cheese or full fat anything to a dish it has been so firmly ingrained in the psyche that it's a mini struggle. But the health effects especially my blood glucose levels (type 2 diabetic) really keeps me going. I think it's almost criminal the lies that have been told and I wouldn't be surprised to find out they were fueled by Big Pharma to keep people sick.
I'm three weeks into Keto. My reason is to lower A1C. I eat only fresh whole foods, never eat more than 20 carbs a day, never allow myself to get hungry enough to binge and drink enough water to cause a drought in my town and my weight has dropped 24 pounds so far. I didn't expect such weight loss in 21 days but I'll gladly take it. I am working with my Dr. and having regular tests done to make sure I don't screw up.(my screwed up life style has already caused my diabetes)
Last week I got through six days without sugar, by the 3rd day I started to feel amazing. Each new day I just felt more and more amazing. I never knew it was possible to feel so wonderful... I think that by understanding why certain things are bad for my body, it will be easier not to cheat but stay on the Keto path!
I've lowered my carb intake but not to keto levels. In the 2 weeks that I've done this, I've noticed my blood sugar levels have dropped from 200+ range down to around 130. I test it at least twice daily and it is much more stable as well. Glad I saw this video, especially about trusting labels. I see I havem more work to do. Thank you for posting.
Thank you, Dr Ken! For years I've been fighting with everyone in my family about my need for salt, particularly as I have Crohn's and have post operative diarrhoea. I just started eating keto again to decrease bodily inflammation and insulin intolerance. Working beautifully allready and seeing results BUT wasn't sure about salt intake. I know I need more (night-time cramps) so now I can go ahead. Thanks!!!!

I’ve only been on this diet for just over a week and already loving it. Eating more fats make me feel full longer so snacking isn’t even an issue for me and my blood sugar and weight continue to drop and I feel great and I haven’t even added exercise yet.
Am only 4 days into my Keto journey and am AMAZED at how well my body has taken to it!! I have SO much energy, I'm sleeping like a dead man (previous insomniac), I'm rarely hungry and SO happy! Even though I've yet to document any weight loss, I'm so excited to be on this journey and can't wait to see where it takes me!!
Same here! Today is my day 4, well I am feeling hungry at some times but I know it's because I am not eating enough besides that it had been going well. Although I am creating alot of weird recipes.
Doc since I started keto diet two days ago I no longer feel like I was before. And before I was starving and kept craving food constantly and now I don’t feel hungry at all. Sugar is a real poison. I’m so happy on my keto diet because I honestly hated feeling the urge to keep eating and I couldn’t stop because I was eating too much sugar and now I’ve stopped that I feel great and so happy.
7 Biggest KETO Beginner Pitfalls 1. Not Eating Enough Fat 2. Not Getting Enough Salt 3. Snacking 4. Comparing Your Results To Someone Else's Results (You Are Unique) 5. Worrying About Portion Size/Calories 6. Trusting Food Manufacturer's Nutritional Facts 7. Don't Go It Alone (Have a KETO Buddy)
@David W I think my interpretation is correct... it is a pitfall TO trust the Manufacturers Nutritional Facts. You are saying it is a pitfall NOT TO trust them, but if you disagree, well then I'll just agree to disagree...
@David W That was not my statement... You are interpreting (yeah I said it) wrong. I did not say to TRUST manufacturers. The word I used was TRUSTING, as in trusting them is a pitfall. But fine, again I say I'll agree to disagree with your interpretation of the meaning of the word. But you also went on to disparage those others in the comments who my have liked my original comment. That says far more about you than them. I'm done arguing, life is too short. I wish you well on your KETO journey & sorry you did not like my original comment.
My favourite foods? Oily salty fatty and lots of veggies! Im 10kgs down in 3 months. At 65 I didn't think this was possible. I'll stop comparing myself to others after this wonderful advice and just enjoy my new lifestyle. XOXO tyty
My son saw my good results in 2021 when I was on keto. He's not overweight, but expressed interest in it. When I tried explaining what I had learned about the diet, I could see the doubt and worry about the amount of fat in the diet, because of all the erroneous information we were fed for all those decades. I told him that my A1Cs and the other labs were great and I had quickly dropped 20 lbs. I told him that he get good information from your channel and others. During the lockdown last year, I got bored and starting eating those evil carbs. For some reason it's harder to start again than it was the first time, but I'm definitely starting over. I had more mental clarity and felt better than I had in a long time. One of THE best things about the diet is that I never had real hunger and could fast for 16 hrs! Thanks for reminding me!
Thank you for all the videos Dr. Berry. Your a truely special person. God Bless you and your family. Could you do a video on kidneys, uric acid and excess protein consumption and negative side effects of it (ex: bubbly urine) and how to fix it? Would be good to get ur take on it. I am sure it would benefit alot of people to recognize this issue and how to fix it if you become CKD stage 1 thru 3.
Cream of tartar is a really underused potassium source!! Mix a few dashes with a bit of salt in water while fasting. Works really well but tastes exactly as bad as you’re picturing 👌

My whole fat family is seeing me lose weight on Keto...36 lbs. in two and a half months...and they're all getting on the bandwagon! They can't believe all the lies we were told growing up on SAD. Congrats! I started solo as well and now have family doing it to, February marks month 4, however I had a couple bad food weeks during holiday season, but overall I'm about to hit 30 lbs down, which is huge for since I've always struggled to lose. I’m so glad I came across you Dr. Berry your amazing I’m a week in and my blood Sugar is at 102 after about 5 years of high blood sugars because of type 2 diabetes Your advice is priceless
Fasting is the hardest thing for me too. Because if I go longer than 5 hours without eating I start feeling very sick and gagging (with low blood sugar). The people who are able to fast for 18 hours, I'm jealous of them!
@@amandaclover9191 sounds like you have not been “fat adapted” check out videos by Sten Ekberg on intermittent fasting and fat adapted. 18 hrs should make you hungry but not miserable and when you do eat it’s like heaven! Good luck!
Learning about this has changed my life. I love hearing fitness personalities crap on this diet who haven't fully embraced it. This is the only thing that is ever worked for me.
About doing it alone, it's hard because 90% of your environment will judge you, especially when you start getting some visible results! I actually found motivation and strength in that! The most judgemental person was "friend" that denies her bulimia, even if you catch her vomiting. Family was concerned, but accepted my choice, and tried to adjust meals to my preference. Coworkers were the funniest, they were curious what I have for my meal, an and were inspired to change there eating habits by bringing home prepared meals instead of bakery "food". So I think that my decision to try something goods for my self, had some benefits for my environment! So if anyone considers to try this lifestyle, I encourage them to try for six months, and try to do thay best. Then you will see how this lifestyle effects you and your surrounding, and is this for you or not.
Yeah...I mean...I never really notice what other people decide to eat...unless it's something that looks really good that I'd also like to have...but it just normally doesn't even cross my mind to think about it ...So why all the people apparently are judging others like that doesn't make sense to me...unless someone is making a big deal to others about what they are eating. Then yes you may be likely to get feedback from other people.
Dr. Berry, I literally did go Keto alone but you were then & still are my biggest motivation, I keep myself accountable by watching your video's daily when possible, you keep me in check, thanks for saving my life literally...
And if a craving attack hits out of no where for whatever reason, although following this way of eating for life, you wont have many cravings.......talk about salt...simply shake a LITTLE SEA SALT IN SOME ICE WATER AND drink it down...cravings magicaly dissappear!!!!!!!!!
I appreciate you so much. About 60 days ago I started a new health challenge. I quit coffee and sugar. I started eating bacon every day and I put a small teaspoon of bacon grease in my morning hot tea with a scoop of collagen powder . It brought such mental clarity. My eyes are no longer dry. I have eaten a keto diet for a couple of years. The addition of bacon and bacon fat has been a welcome addition. I am never hungry. Thank you so much for your common sense approach to health and food. The quality of life is top priority. At 74 yrs old it is "Great"
People need to realize you can't have both....they want the fats but don't want to give up the carbs and this is where we need to recondition our brains....THANK YOU ALWAYS FOR YOUR GREAT VIDEOS DOC
Irish Claddagh they won’t though. So many of my friends are fat and sick but say “I can’t give up my cereal or toast or bread or pIzza”. Whatever. I gave up and say nothing now. Too bad so sad.
@@junkgirltoo5005 After seeing me loose weight on keto, a girl at work said she'd try keto then gave up after a single morning saying to everyone that the keto diet failed. I asked her what she had for breakfast and she said cereal! Ah duh, you never even started keto because you're a sugar addict. She is only 20 and says she will "do anything" but is getting fatter by the month eating all those so called diet snack bars for lunch and morning and afternoon teas. I don't talk about it either.
I am 70. When I was a kid if you wanted to lose weight you quit eating or cut down on bread, sweets and potatoes. We knew more then. That was the advice then. Still works today but then people were not as fat and sick. Didn’t know anyone with diabetes. Oh, another thing was we were told not to eat between meals as we would spoil our supper. The state and fate of western humanity has gone horribly wrong. Even my own 13 yr o,d granddaughter has been on mood drugs for 2 years. Keto can help but my daughter thinks it’s too hard to wean her off the crap so pop the pills. I am truly sad about that. We have to be the physical presence and economic push of change even if those around us are disastrously blind. It is a disaster. Take care and keto on.
@@junkgirltoo5005 you and I are the same age. Do you remember many years ago there was a diet called The Drinking Mans Diet? It was low carb and there were certain forms of alcohol that were allowed. My parents and I went on it.
Cindi Estess I kind of remember. My own dieting began in 1968 when my hubby was in college and I worked. Twiggy was around and I thought I had to look like that and I ended up with bulimia. I was young and in retrospect I was thin anyway. My first fad (then) 1968 was the Stillman Diet and that was low carb. Then stillman was murdered by his bonkers girlfriend. I was a mess with disordered eating until around 1981 when I overcame the bulimia but it took a couple of years to eat normal. Just in time for the low fat debacle. 🤪😱🙄Low carb has always worked for me. I was Paleo first and now Keto has improved my health, weight and mood the most. I’m in. 70 ain’t so bad this way!!
I am doing this alone and your videos plus a friend who introduced me to you have been inspiring and motivating. Today someone said she could see I have lost weight even though I can’t. I do not have a scale to weigh myself on as I have found scales very depressing in the past. I suffer from severe IBS but I am a different person since I have been doing what you are teaching us. I have even stopped prompton pump meds and my reflux has stopped. I still have a long way to go and sometimes feel like giving up BUT my motivation is listening to you every night.
Im 55 and have been eating carnivore for a year now. I have always been slim, but had the dad gut from the traditional American diet. I was a dark chocaholic, and always eating cookies, pastries, and chips. Now I eat ribeyes for lunch and dinner. Absolutely now craving for sweets now, and my energy is constant. I ride my mountain bike 3 days a week, and lift weights twice a week. No dad gut, I’m at my high school weight and same waist size too. I chose this diet because I had digestive issues and from people antidotal stories thought it could help me. It has! To me its now a way of life not a diet.
I'm intrigued about a keto diet, and am considering trying it. What if you like the weight you're at (more or less), but just want to think more clearly (decrease brain fog) and have good energy? Does anyone have insights or suggestions to share?
@@roseschulze1647 Brain cells can't function without fat, so Keto does help a lot in clarity of mind. There are many stories and testimonies on internet about how Keto helped people in that regard. But if we're talking about the brain fog due to old age, more brain exercise is required. Learning a different language, solving puzzles etc. any activity to push the brain helps.
@@precursors Thank you for your comments. I guess I'd be referring to brain fog due to perimenopausal hormone level changes. In my case, my job is very mentally challenging and I do various games and puzzles outside of that. Low iron levels exacerbate the brain fog, and it had gotten to the point where I considered quitting my job for one less mentally challenging. I've made various changes that have helped considerably since, but now the "last frontier" for me seems to be related to diet. :) Well....and getting back into the gym. Lol
I'm finding it helpful to do intermittent fasting while beginning this lifestyle change, as it's giving me time to gather information and not jump head first into keto bars, keto recipes, fats, proteins without really understanding what this all means.
Great video, Doc. I've been at this for a good long while and I've managed to lose +/- 20lbs and keep it off. Now I'm at a standstill. I think I SNACK too much! My mom is in her mid 60s and she has totally transformed in about as much time! I also COMPARE MYSELF TO OTHERS too much! Thanks for the tips.
@@lindsayskye4244 it drives friends crazy that I don’t use a scale to determine my weight. I use the size and feel of my clothes and the mirror. I can see the fat and dead muscles turning to firm muscles. I am 63 and omg this works for me. I am getting healthy and because I am getting healthy I am losing weight. Getting healthy is really all that matters. Blessings to you and yours.
I so agree. Everyone loses at a different rate, even on the best diet for their bodies. And everyone's nutritional needs might be a little different. Thank goodness keto is a diet that allows for variety between more plant-based and more meat, so we can each experiment and see which foods we need more of and which ones we need less of. My keto plate may look way different than yours. And that's ok, if we're each eating exactly what our bodies are asking for. No need to compare to anyone else...only compare where we are to where we were before we started.
You are my go to❤️ lost 74 pounds 10 months on this carnivore... not diabetic anymore.... but insulin resistant.... doing intermittent fasting OMAD and then 3-4 days fasting to cure my insulin resistance. I’m 66 yrs old female ,
When I was in my 20's I was doing keto & never knew it. I never felt so good or looked better or had more energy than I did then. I'm definitely going back to it. I suffer severe pain from multiple spine problems, arthritis in spine being one of them so I'm truly hoping going to keto will help. There are days I almost can't take one more minute of 24/7 pain & as of 2016 with the CDC guidelines, I no longer receive meds that help with the pain. When I did, I was active, worked, could cook right. Now it hurts to shop, stand to cook clean etc. I used to be able to ride motorcycles through the Yukon to alaska & all over the US. All within reason of course. But now, no. So please, wish me luck. It's more than just inflation, but it's a start to lower that.
He said no snacking tho,,, so are we allowed to snack or not haha I just got diagnosed as pre diabetic so I'm going to start this keto diet and try and fix it before I go to type 2. He said not snacking all day but to eat when hungry
I’m 48 female and a truck driver, believe me no an easy combo. Not do keto but carnivore and intermittent fasting. To be honest I don’t know a weight number but I can say I feel better. I mean it’s only been a week today. I still have some bowel issues but the pain, blotting are for 99% gone. That is why I starting this journey. I googled symptoms and came up with Dr. Berry, now that funny. My goals are day by day. And yes I’m doing this alone. Am I scared yes. But fear of the unknown is what the human species last as long as we have. So like my ancestors, I will push through my fear to see and appreciate this new journey. Thank you Dr. Berry for taking this trip with all of use.
Folks need to realize, health, longevity and weight loss is so multi faceted. Nutrition is a big part of it but, sleep, movement, sunshine, nature, stress reduction, medications, relationships etc. have so much to do with healing and good health.
One note to add on about the portion size. I want to add on to not eat too fast, eating to quick leads to eating more than it takes to make you feel full. Let your body catchup with knowing how much you actually ate
Encouraging information. I've been doing keto since the 2nd week of January, and have lost about 18 pounds. I know I'm not doing it exactly right, but am encouraged by my results. I just have to remind myself that I'm 63, and that my age is more the problem when it comes to speed of loss.

I started keto, but not for weight loss, just to get healthier. I am late 20s, woman, 5.6ft, 120lbs, anemic, depression, anxiety (general and PTSD). I was underweight for over a year (90-110lbs). I definitely have some residual issues from that. I do a lot of yoga and homeschool 2 Young kids. Well, when i started keto, I felt a light bulb go off. I started feel so much calmer, less depressed, less anxious, more energy, better focus. I know some studies have shown an improvement of mental health and focus. Bacon cooked in grass fed butter is the best pre-yoga food. Focus. Strength. Energy. Animal farm is a super food. I started trying to manage my weight in 1970, with Weight Watchers. (basic American Diabetic and Heart Association. recommended diet) Back then, and up until recently, we were ALL told that we women especially, need to eat every few hours, and we should ALL avoid FATS like the plague. A 'snack' was half cup of grapes, etc. I was very strict, VERY HUNGRY and suffered some real side effects, from avoiding fats, A couple years ago , at 68 yrs old, I tried Carnivore for 30 days, and never went back! A little KETOVORE now and then. Carnivore is SO SATISFYING that anyone can easily go hours without eating anything. I encourage anyone who grew up in the era of WW, to give Carnivore a try, you will not regret it!! Thanks to Dr. Berry and his lovely wife Neisha, for all the info, and promoting this lifestyle! Hey doc....thank you for putting these videos out because they really have changed my health....my sugar in the morning used to consistently be 250 and since I switched to keto and intermittent fasting my sugar in the morning is 82 to 95 and this will add years to my life so thanks you from the bottom of my heart
Thank you Dr. Berry! I’ve stalled, became frustrated, and almost went back to the SAD! I’m going to revamp my keto habits and leave the so called keto manufactured foods alone.
Thank you soooooooo much for ALL YOU DO FOR US....I WISH I HAD YOU AS MY DR. in Texas. Most drs, including mine, put us on the salt less, tasteless diet....soooo sad.
Just do it! For me, (who is never hungry in the morning anyway) it was easiest to just eliminate breakfast. I eat two meals a day. And am never, ever hungry...but drink plenty of water and don't forget the salts and minerals Dr. Berry reminds us about!
Just started Keto going on week 3 and have lost 15lbs. Still learning about keto, however my best friend and I are doing it together and we talk daily. My husband is a great support. I'm finally under 300lbs. Makes me feel amazing
I still watch my portions and keep in mind calories only because I am addicted to food. Before it was processed crap and now it’s good whole food but nonetheless I still have a tendency to overeat on whatever it is.

I'm on second day of keto choice foods. I have ALWAYS had a sweet tooth and I'm praying for strength to stay away from carbs.. My GYN called this week and told me that I am pre diabetic at 6.1 with my A1C test . 😩 I am 52 and VERY active , but I had noticed that I have been being tired a lot. I account that to the sugar levels being elevated. I'm so glad I found Dr Berrys videos. Blessings and continue healthy eating .
I'm just stating what my dr told me. He said you should be ok if you are healthy, but if you've had any kidney problems, such as stones or infections, it can damage or cause more damage to kidneys. I am not a dr. My dr. Told me this and I witnessed 3 ppl who ended up with kidney problems, after doing atkins which is why I asked dr to begin with. Not trying to act like i know this to be true, just concerns me, that's all. But good for you! Keto takes discipline and is great for some ppl.

So yay!
Me too and I will be 70 this year. Have only been doing it a few weeks. Already on omad, just don't feel the hunger.
How and where did get the plan to start the Keto diet, pleeeese.
Wow...congratulations!!
Shit! You are looking to lose all that? I believe it. I have seen it. I lost only 50 lbs but I wasn't as desperate as you. And I am down to my goal weight. You have to believe in it and not give in to donuts.
Hi this is my 3rd day of my keto diet. I'm real nervous and excited to see results

@@lauraduncan6786 Keep going. Stick to it. And, if I can give you a recommendation: KISS. Keep It Simple Stupid. 😊 And, have only a few sources. Dr. Berry is awesome. Dr. Annette Bosworth is fantastic. Dr. Berg's videos are very, very good. Do it through food. Best
57lbs in 5 months blood work was good, KEEP ON KEEPING ON to a healthy life... thanks Dr Ken
Good luck. You've got this. :)
Just keep watching Dr Berry videos and keep going. I know many that have had the surgery and gained the weight back. So sad.
Go keto, not butchered, you can totally do this and you will be SO glad you dodged the knife.Keto is a life fix,not a quick fix 😘👍🏻
vittorio vuocolo definitely try keto you won’t regret it!!!!
Berry!
Im just new to keto. And i started 1 week ago i haven't weighed my self until today i have lost 8 pounds since starting my new lifesyle

That's awesome. 👍👍👍
You’re so right about not comparing your Keto journey with others. I’m almost 62, female, and my metabolism was DOA 20 years ago. Weight loss happens when it happens. Big love from Indiana! ❤️
I'm 4 months in my keto journey, recently cutting additional foods b/c they weren't keto. This video is extremely helpful. Thanks!!
Are you Nigerian or from any African countries.
Fat avoidance was my biggest hurdle. After about six months I worked it out. Our government's misinformation has damaged an entire generation. Thank you for bringing enlightenment to the discussion.
For the first time in a very long time average life expectancy is going down. I blame the fat phobia.
@@trucid2 I agree. Along with fat phobia came carb mania. My grandparents didn't eat that way and 3 out the 4 of them lived into their mid-nineties.
TWO generations‼️😡👎
Not to quibble, but it was and is government DISinformation. Quite deliberate.
Thanks Dr. Ken....just started keto 1 month ago and the last time I weighed i was down 11 lbs.
Congrats! That's amazing!
You'll probably find you'll save money at the supermarket as well. I know I have.
Congratulations 💥👌!!!😁 im trying to start this lifestyle, however I don't know where to start... How did you do it?

Jo M. That's excellent!! Keep on going! The reward is totally worth the effort!!
Thanks!!!!
Do you use a special kind of salt, like sea salt?

I’ve only been on this diet for just over a week and already loving it. Eating more fats make me feel full longer so snacking isn’t even an issue for me and my blood sugar and weight continue to drop and I feel great and I haven’t even added exercise yet.
Yay! Same for me.

5. Worrying About Portion Size/Calories
6. Trusting Food Manufacturer's Nutritional Facts
7. Don't Go It Alone (Have a KETO Buddy)

I think my interpretation is correct... it is a pitfall TO trust the Manufacturers Nutritional Facts. You are saying it is a pitfall NOT TO trust them, but if you disagree, well then I'll just agree to disagree...
@David W
I didn't misrepresent Dr Berry, he said it is a pitfall to trust the Manufacturers Nutritional Information
@David W
That was not my statement...

Good to hear again! I needed a refresher! Fell off the wagon, and need to climb back on! Thank you Dr. Berry

I’m so glad I came across you Dr. Berry your amazing I’m a week in and my blood Sugar is at 102 after about 5 years of high blood sugars because of type 2 diabetes
Your advice is priceless
Fasting is such a tough one. I know the benefits and I do feel better physically, but life is hard when the single thing you enjoy is eating.
You guys have saved my life. You have also improved my quality of life. Your bride is adorable as well, I enjoy her videos as well.
The most sensible voice on this subject anywhere. Thanks.
Thank you~~!!

@@roseschulze1647 Brain cells can't function without fat, so Keto does help a lot in clarity of mind. There are many stories and testimonies on internet about how Keto helped people in that regard. @@precursors Thank you for your comments. I guess I'd be referring to brain fog due to perimenopausal hormone level changes.

I've been on a keto diet since just after Thanksgiving. I've lost 32 pounds and I have about 15-20 to go...feel great
Yes! Yes! Yes! Thank you! I just signed up for keto quest! I teach keto free to anyone who needs me!
KETO Diamond good evening, how can i get in touch with you?

Thank you, first for being a wealth of knowledge but also that you share it!
I've been doing keto for 1 week in down 5 Ibs feel so much better and confident. Can't wait to see results in 2 months
Thank you soooooooo much for ALL YOU DO FOR US....I WISH I HAD YOU AS MY DR. in Texas. Most drs, including mine, put us on the salt less, tasteless diet....soooo sad.
Thanks doc. I needed a refresher course to get to my goal. I need to stop being a chicken about IF. Never trust big food/Franken food. Got it!!!
He has even tried some of the food and he likes most of it as well. Which is ok cuz he could lose some weight as well.. but he is not as committed as I am.. I am the heaviest I have e ever been... I'm finally under 300lbs. Makes me feel amazing
I still watch my portions and keep in mind calories only because I am addicted to food. Before it was processed crap and now it’s good whole food but nonetheless I still have a tendency to overeat on whatever it is.
"go back to the stupid American diet"-you have to love him for that
It is only truth!!!
The dreaded pyramid 😂
@E Kuqi he didn't say so
Me too!!
That what makes me subscribed immediately 😂
Started Keto and Intermittent Fasting 4 weeks ago , already seeing results: Triglycerides down to 88 from 160 from last test 2 months ago, HDL however constant, HBA1C 5.7 from 5.9. Need to give it more time, I guess
1. Not eating enough fat.
2. Not getting enough salt and electrolytes.
3. Continuing to snack.
4. Comparing own results to other's.
5. Restricting calories: eat until full.
6. Trusting food manufacturers.
7. Don't stay alone, use online community options.
Great to meet your thoughts online, this is the start of my keto journey, lost 0ne stone already on, a omad diet,
your tips will be taken on board. Thank you.
I have always added salt to everything. My whole adult life. Have always gotten a ton of crap for it. And now ... VINDICATED!! LOL!
Until you find out this keto diet damages kidneys in the long run.
wildfire wildfire Proof please. Yeah.. I didn’t think so.
Sheryl. Me too. My blood pressure has always been low and at 70 yrs, it us still low. Always have and still use salt on everything.
Pink salt don't use iodine or standard sslt
I'm just stating what my dr told me. He said you should be ok if you are healthy, but if you've had any kidney problems, such as stones or infections, it can damage or cause more damage to kidneys. I am not a dr. My dr. Told me this and I witnessed 3 ppl who ended up with kidney problems, after doing atkins which is why I asked dr to begin with. Not trying to act like i know this to be true, just concerns me, that's all. But good for you! Keto takes discipline and is great for some ppl.
Dr. Berry, thank you so much for your insightful information and comical delivery! It’s making my journey easier for me! 😇
Reached a major goal post today after more than a year's gradual weight loss. Still have about a year to go till I reach my target weight. Every now and again I get stuck. Your video helped me to start losing again in the last week or two after I got stuck for about a month. It was your simple tip to stop snacking that did the trick. Thank you so much!!!!
